PFB Consumer Alert: Get An Excise Tax Credit

We know no one's in any hurry to start talking about federal income taxes; especially since we haven't even hit Christmas yet.

Still, there's no bad time for good news and this is good news.

For the tax year 2006, the IRS will allow a one time excise tax credit of between $30 and $60 to compensate folks with land lines for overpaying excise taxes for the previous two and a half year period.

You can read the whole reasoning behind the move in this Snopes article. In the meantime, jot a reminder and put it wherever you keep your tax stuff.

$30 may not be a lot of money but it's better than nothing.
