Renovated KFC Stores are Still Gross!
by MA L. - Posted Fri August 3, 2007 @ 12:00 PM

Recently the local KFC shops in my area underwent MUCH needed renovations. I was excited to see the new designs and was relieved that the gross carpeting in both stores would now be gone.

Boy was I disappointed.

We visited the store on W. 117th and Franklin in Lakewood first because it was closer. It basically looks like they gutted the interior and slapped up some bright yellow and red paint.

The bathrooms (which were probably in the worst shape of the entire restaurant) weren't even touched. Same fixtures, not even painted. Still just one commode.

But again, I'm just grateful that nasty, dirty carpeting is gone and they've replaced the broken tables.

The store at W. 165th and Kamms Corners was actually worse. Same condition overall - the ceiling in one place shows that there is some sort of leak, possibly from the roof that has not been fixed. Every table in the place was dirty. The floors were sticky. We attempted to put our 8 month old in one of the high chairs and it was caked with dirt. We wound up taking turns holding him on our lap while we ate.

I wasn't even sure what to even say to the manager. The place was gross. But how do you tell someone their store is a pigsty without offending them?

I would hope that after making the decision to revamp the stores that it would have been more than just minor cosmetic. I also would hope that the staff would take pride in their new space and work to keep it clean. I guess not.

I don't expect much from Church's Chicken or Popeye's, but I am disappointed to say that as much as I PREFER your chicken and sides to theirs, I would feel MORE comfortable eating in their shops after these visits.

I hope that you will address this with your sites. I don't know if anyone else was as put off by the underwhelming changes, but I was and I just wanted to make you aware of it.
