Verizon turned my account over to Collection before sending me a bill

Dear Verizon Wireless
I strongly believe in the products that Verizon Wireless offers. Today's world depends heavily on wireless communication and I feel Verizon is right at the top of the competition. I was a loyal Verizon Wireless customer for 2 years from 2003 - 2005 and have never been late with my payments. I have always paid my bill on time.
After completion of my 2 year plan I chose to upgrade my cell phone with you again for an additional 2 years. Surprisingly I didn't receive any bills for the adjusted amount. Instead I received two Collection Agency notices. The amount of the debt was extremely low. I had no reason to not to pay you had I received a bill.
Assuming that the damage was already done to my credit I chose not to pay at that time. Being from a different country I was not fully aware of the implications of negative credit. I shortly left US due to my father being ill and other family issues.
I returned to US in 2008 after I found a job here. Naturally both the accounts mentioned above went to charge-offs by then. Being an ethical person I decided to pay off this debt which is my only debt.
Now it's showing as paid charge-offs in all three of my credit reports. I don't think I deserved this since I always pay my bill on time.
I request you to kindly delete the above mentioned accounts from the credit bureaus.
I am considering to get a Cell phone and a DSL service from Verizon as I have great regard for your products. However, I would decide against it if your billing department does not improve. I am hopeful of resolving this matter in an amicable fashion.
Sincerely
Basab
Immediate deletion of the above mentioned accounts from all three credit bureaus.
