Cost Cutters is a Hair Salon, Not a Daycare Center
by Toni S. - Posted Thu April 2, 2009 @ 12:00 PM

I've been a customer of your Cost Cutters Hair Salon located on Island Ford Rd. in Madisonville for over three years.

I love your stylists, and even know most of them on a first name basis. My two children even have their own stylist who I absolutely love!

In the last few months I've noticed a few changes in management, and unfortunately, this one was not for the best.

For the last few months I've gone into your salon I've noticed that this woman constantly has her family visiting her at work. They smoke in front of the door to enter the building, they are loud, and her grandson who looks no older than 3 has full run of the salon while they are visiting. I was there for close to four hours getting an all over color, highlights, low lights, and cut, and I watch this child knock bottles off of a glass shelf, unplug curling irons and hair dryers as well as spin in the salon chairs without ever being corrected for his behavior.

To say that was dangerous is an understatement. That child could have SEVERELY injured himself or someone else.

That last time I had an appointment for both my children her family was visiting her again, starting to see a pattern here? And once again the child was running all over. My children's stylist had to keep excusing herself to answer the phone and check out other customer's because the manager was too busy with her family to do her job.

This final incident is my last straw. And is honestly making me feel like I am no longer welcome in your salon.

I went in on a Tuesday to make an appointment with my stylist for high lights and a cut. I was greeted to the smell of cigarette smoke from her "visitors" smoking by the door to the salon, and when I was stared at by her family and made to feel like I wasn't even welcomed there. I asked her when my stylist was working and what times she had available and was rudely asked "Well tell me what time you want." Almost like she couldn't wait the three seconds that it was going to take for me to finish looking at my calendar to make sure I didn't have anything going on at that time.

Please inform your employee that this is a hair salon and not a daycare center. It is fine to have family visit you at work occasionally, but to stay there all day and let a small child run amok in a business is unprofessional and inappropriate.

I would also like you to inform your employees that it is not O.K. for their visitors to smoke in front of the door to enter the building. It is disgusting. If they want to smoke they should do it out in their personal vehicle, which isn't far since they are almost always parked in the Fire Lane.
