Blue Blob defect on Wega TV

Dear Customer Service,
Sony was aware of a manufacturing defect in its expensive, large screen TV's but did not inform its customers about the problem. By the time I knew about the problem, the warranty had conveniently expired and the repair cost would total $1200.00.
I would like Sony Inc to repair the TV at their expense or provide a replacement TV free of defects.
