Rude and Unhelpful Server at Buffalo Wild Wings
by Jessica S. - Posted Wed February 3, 2010 @ 12:00 PM

I took my two daughters to Buffalo Wild Wings last night in XXXXXXXXXX. Our server was very friendly at first. I had both kids order off the kids menu.

My youngest daughter got the macaroni and cheese which came with fries and a drink. My older daughter ordered the "traditional wings" off the kids menu. When she asked how many wings it came with, the server said six (or possibly 4, that's a little foggy) but that they were only $.45 each and you could order as many as you want. So she ordered 8. She asked for fries and I asked server if they came with fries and she said no. So I told my daughter she could eat some of her sisters. If you have children, you know they like to order more than they like to actually eat it. But in the back of my mind I was thinking "Why the heck does a kids meal not come with fries?" That should have been my first clue. I asked server what drinks they came with and she listed the typical coke, sprite etc. My daughter ordered a coke.

When I got the bill, I noticed we had been charged for two drinks for a total of $4.58. I only had one coke. And both my daughters got something to drink which came with the kids menu. No big deal, probably just an error. So when the server came back (which took an EXTRAORDINARY amount of time) I politely enquired about the extra drink. And she looked at me and put her hand over my drink and said "This is one drink" and then put her hand over my daughters and said "This is another drink". Ok, wow, that was a little rude, but I meekly said "So her's didn't come with a drink?" And she did the hand thing one more time, slowly pointing out my stupidity. To which I replied again softly (because I'm wondering if I am stupid) "so her's didn't come with a drink?" She paused and looked at me as if I can't add. And then she breaks out into laughter like the whole thing is hilarious as says "OH! I thought you were talking about your OTHER daughters drink! No, her's did not come with a drink because she didn't get a kids meal." Apparently when the server said the wings were $.45 and she could order how ever many she wanted, if she went over the six, it was no longer considered a kids menu. Which no one said a word to me about that. Which I don't think is particularly fair. You see each kid ordering off the kids menu. My daughter specifically pointed to the item on the kids menu "Traditional wings". I think it's fine if you want to have some kind of "special" and make it not on the kids menu but I think you should have to tell the person when ordering. I know eating out is expensive and a luxury. But the kids menu is supposed to be there to provide some kind of value. A kind of "all in one" package. If she would have said ordering the extra wings made it not a kids meal, we would have ordered something else.

So not only was the value simply not there, the server was incredibly rude. I left her a 10% tip instead of 20%. When I got back to my car, I was thinking I shouldn't have tipped at all. Not only was she incredibly rude and unhelpful in ordering, she took forever to come back to help us. In addition, when we asked for a lid for my daughters macaroni, she completely forgot. My older daughter had to go track her down.

This Buffalo Wild Wings is about 3 blocks from me. It is really disappointing as I couldn't see myself going back. Definitely not with kids and definitely not if I had the same server. We would be willing to give them another shot if Buffalo Wild Wings was paying for it. But I don't want to waste my own money giving them another shot.
