Embezzlement of personal funds via debit card
by Carla A. - Posted Sat November 19, 2011 @ 6:22 PM
My husband went to the Shell service station in our town of Oak Ridge, NC.(which operates under the name Village Store)He purchased $11.00 worth of gas for the lawn mower and paid by running his visa debit card at the pump. He ran it as credit as we do everywhere. I check my balances at my bank and lo and behold, they are HOLDING $125.00 out of my account for an $11.00 purchase. I know this is an issue with Shell Oil and not the store b/c it happened at a Shell 30 miles away (also a mom/pop business) when my husband filled his truck up with gas.
This is outrageous!!!!!!! You nearly depleted my account. I know that it has taken nearly 4 days for this to "unhold" before and that money is unavailable to me. I tell my husband to go to Costco for gas but this was just a few gallons to mow so we did not even think about it. What you are doing is stealing and I am sure law enforcement would agree. Certainly the newspaper and local news would as well. Maybe someone like Glenn Beck also. I intend to announce it to everyone. Looks like another small business will bite the dust when this comes to light. NO ONE will do business with them all because greedy Shell Oil steals from their customers. It is a possibility that it already has gotten out as they have disconnected their phone service. Wonder why? maybe tired of calls from irate customers!!
I EXPECT Shell Oil to discontinue this practice immediately as it serves no purpose. There are no debit or credit cards out there that will let you purchase anything without the funds being available anymore. It is an automatic. To hold these funds in the exhorbitant amount they do is EMBEZZLEMENT!
I expect immediate action to release my funds and I believe a check in the amount of $125.00 to fix the damage is more than fair. Trust me when I say, I will never do business with any of your service stations again!! Now if you will excuse me, I am contacting my local news.
