Hideous experience
by Florence F. - Posted Thu December 29, 2011 @ 11:04 AM
I am writing to you in reference to an order I placed on October 2nd, 2011 with Verizon. I called on a Sunday and spoke to a very polite girl that ave me internet and phone when I asked for a bundle. I asked about telephone, internet and television but still received the internet and phone. She told me that a modem would be extra but said if I had an existing modem I wouldn't have to buy one from Verizon. I told her we had Comcast and wanted to switch to Verizon. Then, she told me someone would be at my house from 8am to 12pm on Friday the 7th. No one showed up, I did, however, receive six splitters in a box from UPS from Verizon.
Then, I called on the weekend of October 8th-9th and spoke to a man. He told me I could get a better deal if I got bundle with phone, internet and tv. He quoted me a price of 74.99, I said "yes that sounds great." I also told him I had been with Comcast. He arranged for the
technician to come on Monday, October the
10th. Mr. Moore came and did a wonderful job installing the satellite tv.
Unfortunately, I was still using my cell phone because we were having difficulties with Comcast: I could not get online nine times out of ten. Even though I have an older computer, I am still able to get online faster with Verizon. We did not apply for our rebate with DirecTV until after the 13th because I did not have an online provider and I did not know we were supposed to apply for it before the installation date because I could not receive e-mails.
Now, I called Verizon and spoke to an informative lady named Sidney. She said "oh, I should have told the previous people who I had before because Comcast cuts the wire then they connect the phone and internet. I explained to Sidney that I had told each person I talked to with Verizon about my maladies with Comcast. She switched me over to a lady whose name was Mrs. Thost, pronounced toast. She set up an ppointment for a technician to come out and fix the problem. I was informed by Mrs. Thost that we would not be required to pay the installation fee. The technician came out on Thursday the 13th then we had phone and internet with Verizon. The young man whose name I believe was Tom, was both pleasant and very informative.
I would have also cancelled the games and backup (the backup I already have) if I had been able to receive the e-mails from Verizon. Unfortunately, now we have a whopping bill from Verizon each month. Why did I leave Comcast?
I would appreciate any help in this matter because I am writing for my two parents, one in her eighties and my father in his nineties.
I thought I was doing something great for them by getting them Verizon. I severely regret my decision.
Tell me why my parents are not paying the 74.99 a month and getting squeezed to pay practically three hundred dollars every month.
Tell me why I already wrote two letters and none of them were acknowledged or even answered, I wrote directly to Verizon.
