Changing Table

In this day an age places have changing tables for babies.

Most changing tables can be pretty disgusting. That is true.
HOWEVER, I keep disinfectant wipes in my diaper bag for just that
reason. I also keep small scented bags to put the diaper in
afterwards. I know that not everyone does that, and I know that some
people are so rude that they don't care about leaving their babies
diaper in an open garbage can. However, every parent should not be
penalized for that. Do not assume anything about me, or insinuate
that I should ashamed for using a changing table. I am very careful
before laying my child on anything especially in a public bathroom.

I have been in many bathrooms that are completly nasty and smell
terrible and it had nothing to do with a baby but grown adults just
like each and every one of you.

Yes it can be easy to run outside and change a baby in a car. Most
places though have a baby changing station for convenience.

My complaint is not stupid or dumb. It is the way I feel and if you
disagree then so be it. But making inappropriate comments is not
called for. You don't like my complaint...whatever. I am not the
only person who feels this way. After explaining the situation to
family, friends and co-workers they all thought it was ridiculous.

Until my child is old enough to not need a diaper change I do not plan
on going to Pizza Hut. I have children...millions of people do. You
can't really expect them to not go anywhere just because of this. My
children are well behaved, they do not act up in public or bother
other patrons. I should be able to go to a restaurant and change my
child if need be.

The letter is overly dramatic and really should be presented as a
suggestion rather than a complaint. However, it is perfectly valid for
a customer to state that if a certain optional service were offered,
she would be more likely to spend her money there. In fact, it's
exactly the kind of suggestion businesses want to hear.

I'm sure the writer's frustration was heightened by the silly,
obviously made-up reason the employee gave her for the absence of a
changing table.

I am only 30. But I do remember when there werent changing tables in
public bathrooms at ALL! What in the WORLD did parents do then?

I will tell you...

They changed their baby in the car.

In the stroller.

In the car seat.

Or they just stayed home until their child was old enough so they
could enjoy a few hours out without the hassle of having to change a
diaper.

Maybe it's because I became an aunt at the age of 6 and pretty much
had to help raise 5 nieces and nephews long before I became a mother
myself that I know this. I am not sure. But I do know that bathroom
changing tables is not something that came into this world hundreds of
years ago and it IS something people can live without.

If we were talking about an airline, an amusement park, some place
where people are spending hours at a time and there isnt some place
else convienent. We are talking about a pizza place where you might
spend and hour or two.

Those bathroom changing tables are disgusting!! You should be ashamed
for using them!!! They are never cleaned and I cant tell you how many
times I have seen them covered in all kinds of nastiness. I avoided
them at all costs when my son was a baby. they are doing you and your
child a favor.

Just because Pizza Hut doesnt cater to parents of babies by providing
changing tables in their bathrooms you are going back again? That is
silly! It has nothing to do with their food or service. Its amazing to
me how easily inconvinenced people are these days. Especially when it
comes to their babies. It's amazing that they survived childbirth at
all if something like this is enough to get them riled up.

I agree with you.

'People have babies...babies need their diaper changed!' Well--I
DON'T. So is that any reason why I should have to smell your kid's
poopy diaper when I go into a restroom? Ya' know? Even if I DID have
kids, the last place I'd want to change its diaper is in a Pizza Hut
restroom. Next time send your husband out to get the pizza to go, or
have it delivered.

Did you know, you can go out to your car and change your baby on the
seat really quickly. I did that all the time because I hated those
germ infested changing tables.

It only takes on dirty diaper to stink up an entire restroom and
people aren't nearly as careful at out as as they are at home.
