because I spent four years in college back in the 1980's, and let me tell you it didn't to me a bit of good. In fact, it served to make my life worse.
I was 19, starry-eyed, my mind swirling with possibilities. I told my mom about wanting to get a bachelor's degree in electronics and she thought it was a wonderful idea. I told my girlfriend I was going to get a degree so I could improve our life together financially and later when we got married, everything would be great.
What a load of bull. I was working full time as a purchasing agent for a hotel and had to go to school at night. My schedule was absolutely brutal. Any moment I wasn't asleep or at work I was at school, even on Saturdays. Sunday was the only day I actually had off, and I had to spend most of it doing laundry and shopping, and when time allowed, I could see my girlfriend. During the week, I had to eat pretzels for dinner out of the snack machine at school. (There wasn't even time between work and school for "fast" food.) About three years of this goes by. I had lost about forty pounds just from not ever eating enough. I never had money because I was paying my own tuition. My bills became harder and harder to stay on top of. During this whole time I'm thinking to myself: "Don't worry, this soon will be behind you, and a fresh new start awaits when you get your degree!"
Well guess what? Year four of college rolls around, and my girlfriend (gorgeous, buxom, PERFECT) leaves me for some guy she met at a record store. Her parting words were: "We never do anything together anymore" because I could only see her four times a month.
Then the fun really begins. I graduate and get hired on as a satellite receiver technician working with a bunch of rowdy ex-military yahoos. One of the worst jobs I ever had, and it only paid 50 cents more per hour than my "uneducated" job at the hotel. Meanwhile, time is going by, and I am unable to make adequate payments to my student loans because my earning power absolutely sucked, while the cost of living continued to climb. Nowadays, my degree is considered obsolete, and I have actually been laughed out of job interviews and can only get entry-level positions wherever I go. Not to mention my student loan has ballooned out of control to the tune of about $18,000. No matter how much I pay per month, it keeps getting bigger and not even bankruptcy will get rid of it.
Anyway, my point is, if I could go back in time and do ONE thing to improve my life, it would be to NOT go to college. Just a speculation, but if I hadn't sought after a degree, I could have kept the purchasing job I liked, kept my girlfriend, my health, and I would have made about the same amount of money with absolutely no debt to worry about.
I realize a lot of people might disagree with my line of thinking, so I will say this: It is not education and learning that I am against, but paying 20 grand for a piece of paper that actually screws up your life. Anyhoo, thanks for reading my rant. Smiles to you. :-)

Ok, this might make people mad but here it goes.......Smokeing in my house. I don't smoke. I don't like the smell of smoke. I am not actually allergic to smoke but it does bother me. If you come to MY house and I ask you not to smoke inside then don't. Don't smoke inside and don't go stand right outside of the front door and leave it open so that the smoke blows in. Also don't go around telling people how horrible I am because I won't let you smoke in MY house. It is MY house NOT yours.
Anyone who wants to get mad about this, go ahead. Cuss, yell, scream, call me names, whatever you want. I've heard it all.

Why is it that people feel they have to be jerks to get their point across? If you act like an @ss to me, I will act like one right back at you. What comes around goes around. The question still remains though. Why do you feel you have to be an @ss in the first place?
Also, why do you have to point out every single spelling mistake that people make when it doesn't even matter. Obviously you knew what was being said. Even if you didn't, you don't have to point it out by saying someone is stupid because of it.
Then there is the fact that these same people get mad when someone points out their mistakes. I just don't understand some of the idiots on this site.

Hi everyone. No great words of wisdom or really anything interesting here so if that's what your looking for don't bother reading any further. As you may have guessed from my nickname, I love poetry. I have several books of poetry that I read quiet often but I also write poetry. No I don't have any published. Curently I have only let a few close friends and my boyfriend read any of the ones I wrote. I'm very shy in person but feel that I can be more open on the internet so you might not guess it right away. Well I gues thats all. Have a good day all
