I Just Wish Wendy's Wasn't So Order Accuracy Challenged

No Cheese Please!
Every time, yes, every single time, that I go to Wendy's I order a #1 plain and dry. Always, yes, every single time, I am asked if I would like cheese. Every single time I answer no (doesn't "plain and dry" mean "plain and dry") and every time I get my burger...it has cheese!!! I simply do not understand how difficult this is but it has happended every single time I go to Wendy's!
Last night, I went again to Wendy's, ordered a #1 plain and dry with fries and a Dr. Pepper. I was not feeling great and in a rush so I didn't check the burger (as is my usual custom based on the order accuracy history)...the burger, of course, had cheese, even though this time when I ordered I said, "plain and dry with NO CHEESE! They got it wrong again. However, what really got to me this time was that this location was out of Dr. Pepper and would be out until "the truck comes in tomorrow morning" according to the drive through lady. There is another Wendy's location less than two miles away. It wouldn't be to hard to borrow some from another location, would it? I'm pretty annoyed with the whole thing and just wish that Wendy's wasn't so order accuracy challenged.
All I'd really like is some sort of compensation. The way I see it over the past year, I've gone through this ordeal about 30 times. Every time I've been charged for cheese I didn't want or had to wait in line, again, to correct your employee's mistakes. My time is more value than the money because my time can not be replaced. However my money can. Let's say 30 meals times the price of a slice of cheese ($.30) comes out to $9.00. Not much, I bet you could do better than that to keep a loyal customer happy. In other words, I expect to be taken care of with food vouchers. I hope this letter in some way helps the overall order accuracy for myself and other customers in the future.

Excuse me, I'm 17 and a employee of Wendy's. You are obviously rude, and don't know what you are talking about. It's not so easy to just borrow a case of Dr.Pepper from another store, and we work our hardest. I tell you what, even though Im 17 and this is just a job to get me thru high school for $5.25 and hour I dont give a damn if you have cheese on your sandwich why dont you just pick your lazy ass hand up and pick it off.

I too have the same problem. I went Wendy's and ordered a burger and told them no cheese. So the guy taking my order says "you want no cheese"? and I said yes. He then yelled back at the people working in the kitchen and told them no cheese.
So when my burger came it had cheese on it and I went and showed them and complained about it. The guy at the front counter told me "that's ok we did'nt charge you for it!

I agree with your complaint about wendy's. There is a wendy's that i used to go to in NY and i would order a spicy chicken sandwich meal and ask for only cheese and mayo and of course they would put everything else on the sandwich except cheese. I allowed this to go on a few times and then i got smart and stop going there. I don't know how hard it is to just to put cheese and mayo on a sandwich. In the end i learned my lesson.

30 times you could've said "hamburger ... no cheese"
and "borrow dr. pepper from another store"? That's a ridiculous request.

Compensation? if you are dumb enough to PAY for the cheese then you don't deserve compensation. 30 times you noticed that they charge you for cheese and 30 times you have paid for it? do you not tice the extra 30 cents on your bill????!!! i want compensation for having to see you people waste time in a line at wendy's.

I like Wendy's double burger, but without the mayo and cheese. When I order it that way, nine times out of ten they serve it with cheese! On one visit they had to make three burgers to get mine right.
These errors cost Wendy's a lot of money and you'd think the management would figure a way to solve the problem. IMO the system they use is "paperless" and this leads to errors and confusion for non-standard orders.

Boy, James you'd think that after getting bad service 30 times you would get the impression that the service in that Wendy's sucks.

After a few time of it being wrong I would just stop going there, but then that is me. But then we have three Wendy's all within a 5 mile radius from each other.

My problem is not getting cheese on my burger.
Maybe the OP and I can meet somewhere after going to Wendy's and he can give me the cheese.
God does that sound unintentionally dirty or what?

Very good letter, James, thank you for sharing your feedback!
I wonder if you've looked at the receipts for any of these transactions - is there indeed an additional charge for the cheese you didn't ask for? If so, and if you still have the reciepts, I think that you have a good case for asking to be reimbursed by the company.

A #1 is a Single - it doesn't show cheese on the menu. I've never had anyone ask if I want cheese when I order that, only if I order a #2.
Wow...ordering a #2 sounds so wrong and icky....
It's up to Wendy's to decide if you're due any compensation, but I would personally find cheese on a burger I'd asked to have plain pretty annoying. That'd be like me getting onions on *anything*. I despise onions, and always ask to have them left off. If they, by some miracle, still make it into my food, the food is completely inedible for me....and it really ticks me off.

Is the #1 a cheeseburger meal and you're just asking for it (albeit not so clearly) without cheese? If that's the case, they're not overcharging you - they're just charging the going rate for the #1. You can't expect them to lower the price of an item simply because you want it with fewer ingredients. Especially since, I believe, fast food places have prices programmed in, so all the cashier would have to do would be to hit the button for #1.
As for the "plain and dry". Well, I agree that "no cheese" is a bit more concise. Granted you used it THIS time (indicating that "no cheese" is not your standard terminology). But what I don't understand is why you would a) continue going to that location; b) not complain to the manager after it happened more than once; and c) just didn't order a plain hamburger to begin with.
As for the Dr. Pepper, I find it ironic that you're complaining about your wasted time getting your cheese problem fixed, yet were more than willing to wait for someone to schlep over to the nearest Wendy's and "borrow" some Dr. Pepper syrup, bring it back, get it into the machine and then pour you a drink. I laughed out loud at that one. "They could have borrowed some". Uh, no - doesn't work that way. Why couldn't YOU have just driven the two miles to get some. Or go to, oh, I don't know... a supermarket or convenience store?
I agree it must be frustrating to get your order incorrect all the time (though I do think 30 times is an exaggeration; I find it hard to believe anyone would keep returning after more than two or three mistaken orders). Further, you didn't even say which location this was.
As for saying "I expect to be taken care of with food vouchers", well... that just comes off as a demand and not one which I, personally, would honor.

Honestly, you paid 30 cent 30 times? Really, when you paid your bill didn't you notice the extra 30 cent? Right away you should have known that there was cheese on that cheeseburger.
If you really paid extra for a meal 30 times by accident, I need sell you a couple of items:
-- A magic string for 25.00.
-- Empty can of beans, (Eat by Elvis) for 150.00.
-- Dirty plate, (Used by the Queen of England) for 200.00

Instead of ordering the #1 (which is a cheeseburger), why don't you just ask for a hamburger meal?
I have also never heard of the term "dry" with reference to a burger. If you mean no cheese, say no cheese, don't make up some goofy term. The one time you did specify no cheese, it could have been a mistake. I think that when the person doing the ordering punches in a #1 that the person making it assumes it is a cheeseburger. It would be odd the order a cheeseburger with no cheese when you can order a HAMBURGER.
So they were out of Dr. Pepper, big deal! Things happen, and if you wanted Dr. Pepper so much, you should keep some in your car. Or tape a few cans to yourself. That way you would never be without the almighty Dr. Pepper.
No, this Wendy's cannot borrow the Dr. Pepper syrup from another Wendy's. Each store has their own budget and I think they would like to follow it. And why would they borrow some when they knew it was coming in the next day? Oh I forgot, you were visiting. They should have had the Dr. Pepper jet fly in and refill it right away, they wouldn't want to lose YOU as a customer.
As for the $9, forget it. It was YOU that chose to drive away with cheese on your burger, and if it were that important, you should have done it immediately. I have a feeling you just found some old receipts and figured you could complain yourself into a free meal. It's your own fault.
In conclusion, when you want a cheeseburger with no cheese, do us all a favor and order a hamburger.
Thank you, that is all...for now.

I agree with the other poster, you returned to the same location, not once not twice, but 30 times. Why go back. Also is it really that upsetting that they ran out of Dr. Pepper only once that you were there.

I worked at a fast food restaurant during a summer in college and I have never heard the expression "dry" used to mean no cheese... so I can understand the employees asking you if you wanted cheese. While you do say you specified "no cheese" last time, you probably would have saved yourself some aggravation if you'd thought of this sooner. Although granted I can see how frustrating it was when you STILL got cheese the one time you did specifically tell them you didn't want it.
But I don't get why you want free food... why keep going there if they can't get it right?

Why do you keep going back to this location, if there is another only 2 miles away? It seems the extra miles would be worth it to avoid the obvious frustration you feel. And I agree with the others, when you order make sure to say 'and no cheese!' I only ever get cheese and mayo on my burgers because I don't like limp veggies. I always make a point of saying, 'cheese, mayo and meat, only.'

Maybe if you ask for cheese they'd leave it off.
But why on earth would you keep going back if they always get it wrong? You said you've gone through this ordeal about 30 times.

Stop going to the location that messes up your order. You stated so yourself, there is another location nearby, go to that one.

Instead of plain and dry, why not just say that you do dnot want cheese, either. I am one to eat plain hamburgers and I always specify PLAIN and NO CHEESE and it is never an issue. Just a suggestion......
