I was able to find CFMD anywhere. Now I can't seem to find it in any of the grocery stores. WHY??? They keep the regular MD with caffeine, on the shelves of all the grocery stores. You won't find a problem finding it anywhere. Just like cigarettes/beer..they leave the beer and other harsh drinks on the shelves for people to drink and then go out on the hwys. to kill someone. Whoever heard of someone killing someone while smoking a cigarette? well....enough of that. How about the people who are allergic to caffeine? for instance..ME!! I think they should give us people a break!! please put CFMD back on the grocery shelves. Caffeine is addictive...So what are you people trying to do, get everyone addicted? Give us other people a break. PLEASE PUT CFMD BACK ON THE SHELVES. Just like fast food restaurants. All they serve (MOST of them) are sprite or 7up...it would be nice to go through one of them and order a CF drink, especially MD.

I was also FURIOUS when they took away the Canadian, caffeine-free diet Mountain Dew since I had been drinking this for many years! If Pepsi wants to addict all sorts of people to caffeine, so be it, but at least leave the rest of us who just enjoy it for the taste with an alternative! Imagine my excitement when staying in Destin, Florida this winter when I found CAFFEINE FREE, DIET MOUNTAIN DEW, in a Walmart store there. I , of course, figured that I would be able to find the same thing in other areas of the US but when we went to the Port Charlotte area in Feb. we couldn't find it anywhere. If I had known this, I would have bought about 20 cases at the time. A couple of weeks ago I tried to find it in the Lewiston, New York area, which is only about an hour and a half drive away from where we live in Canada. with the plan of taking some home but NO LUCK.
WHY CAN'T I FIND DIET, CAFFEINE-FREE MOUNTAIN DEW anywhere but Destin, Florida? Can anyone help me to find it somewhere else?

Just wanted to say also that I have been a customer with Pepsi Co for 24 yrs. and I am as I say very upset about them taking Diet Mt. Dew Code Red off the shelves here in Oklahoma. I have seen on other sites that we are not the only city that has this problem either. So all I can say is if the Diet Mt.Dew Code Red does not get back on the shelves then they have lost my business for good. I WANT TO SEE THE DIET MT.DEW CODE RED BACK ON THE SHELVES. I AM SPEAKING FOR ME AND OTHERS WHO DRINK THIS PRODUCT. I know you can bring it back. Now get off your lazy butt and bring it back or you have lost some customers especially me. I really hope this gets read by a Pepsi member

I am very upset that they took the Diet Mt Dew Code Red off the shelves. I am a diabetic and this is the only pop that I found that I liked. I have been a customer with Pepsi Co and use to buy the Reg. Mountain Dew, before I came down with diabete's and then I found the Diet Mountain Dew Code Red and it was as close to the Mountain Dew I use to drink. I can't believe that you get a good one out on market and then take it away from alot of others who like the same thing. If the Diet Mt. Dew Code Red does not appear back on the shelves in Oklahoma, then I am done with drinking pop and will not support Pepsi Co.

Youve got to be joking, right? Mountain Dew is the best thing that ever happened to this planet!! Canada has ruined you by getting you hooked to Mountain Dew WITHOUT caffeine. What a JOKE!! What a idiocracy!! When I first came to Canada, I looked and looked and couldnt believe that I couldnt find my long time favorite drink I had loved so much in the states. All I could find was this pansy decaffeinated version!! WTF!!! I cant believe it. I guess I know what happened to the GOOD STUFF before I got here. SCHMUCKS like you got it taken off the shelves because you couldnt handle it. LOL!! I bet you'd like some milk and cookies, eh? How about some CHEESE with that WINE? Ya BIG BABY! Mountain Dew is the GREATEST drink of ALL TIME! Without caffeine it's not even the same drink. Trying making french toast without the toast. Hmmm, what happens? IT'S NOT THE SAME!! LOL!!

Pepsi Company does sell a Caffeine Free Mountain Dew here in the US (I;ve bought some in Utah in 2005). However, trying to get Pepsi to carry it where I live has become ridiculous. They keep telling me that "...there is no market for it..." where we live. I keep asking "How do you KNOW that there is no market for it here if you won't carry it to see if it sells?" It's pretty ridiculous! I have looked online to see if I can order from anywhere else and I haven't found a place yet. However, I'm not giving up!

Caffeine has often been called the "Christian" drug of choice... I had to quit drinking carbonated sodas because they were causing bad chest pains... I'd love to find a non-caffeinated Mountain Dew... Good luck finding some... :)
Mountain Dew/Pepsi are great about satisfying true complaints, you might get some freebies...

This has to be the most intersting letter/responses that I have ever read! I had no idea that in Canada and Australia, MD has always been caffeine-free. I kind of feel bad for you guys, because I always loved MD because of its high caffeine-great pick-me-up.
Now, with the introduction of this MD Fuel...is this going to be in America too? Is it going to replace the MD I know and love? If so, will it taste different?
So many questions...I need answers!

I'm a Canadian as well, and the OP is correct. Until several months ago, the only version of Mountain Dew you could get here was caffiene free. Just wanted to clarify since several posters stated "Mountain Dew has always had it".

Mountain Dew has always had caffine. It has the highest amount of caffine, next to Jolt. Now, there IS caffine free MD. I buy it all the time in the WM store, but it has lost alot of carbonation, but it is still good. I'm not sure what the stores up there carry but it is in all of the grocery stores down here.
Your request for compensation makes no sense. If I got freebies due to 'unfortunate circumstance' then I would have a lot of stuff.

I bought a bottle one day at lunch time and a co-worker asked to try some as well. So I poured her some and we bottomed up.
And both slapped our hands over our mouths, eyes bugging out, and nearly spit it out.

and now that I think of it, I had a cold at the time, so maybe I didn't get the full taste. The only reason I know what I do about soda is because my son is obsessed with it and brings most of the new flavors home. I worry more about the sugar than the caffeine, so I insist he drinks diet. His favorite is Code Red, but I never let him have it because there is no diet version, or so I thought until reading these posts. I wish the company would send some diet Code Red our way!

...that reminds me of when Crystal Pepsi came out! I was in college at the time and worked part time in the information booth at a mall. Pepsi ran a promotion in the mall to give out free 12 oz cans of the new soda. They set up a machine right outside the booth and we had to hand it out to customers who stopped by. Our boss told us we could help ourselves whenever we wanted. The other girl on my shift and I each took a can, sipped it, and had much the same reaction you described. Neither of us touched another drop the rest of the week :-)

And what did you local store manager say when you asked why they no longer stock the old version? Were you told that PepsiCo was no longer selling it?
What is the Canadian law (or case law) on addictive substances? Has caffeine been declared an addictive substance? Are there laws restricting the sale of such items?

"...which is Mountain Dew with Caffeine..."
*blinks*
Mountain Dew has always had caffeine...it was like, the original energy drink. You wanted to stay awake, you drank Mountain Dew all night! Is something different in Canada??
Sprite and 7up are Caffeine free...but not Mountain Dew??

Your title cracked me up and, until you decided to ask for freebies to which you are not entitled, this was a good letter. Actually, I found it interesting because I never even heard of caffeine free Dew. In fact, I know several people who drink Mt. Dew instead of coffee for the caffeine kick. All I know is that, around here, at least, Mt. Dew has always had caffeine.

I'm pretty sure that I drank Caffeine Free Diet Mountain Dew just the other day!
OK... I checked and there is Caffeine Free Mountain Dew
http://www.pepsi.com/pepsi_brands/ingredient_facts/index.php
Solution: Go to the local convenience store, that you shop at often, and tell them to order you some CFMD from the distributor (Talk to the day manager). If they are nice, they might hook you up!
If this doesn't work, then try a local grocery store.
-Maybe you could order direct!

I had a well-founded response pointing out the caffeine levels of various soft drinks, with Dew being tied for third (tied with Pepsi, behind Jolt and Red Bull). Then I googled for caffeine-free Dew and found that in Australia and Canada, Dew has always been caffeine-free (well, at least it had no ADDED caffeine, so the "natural" levels likely are minimal):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Dew
"However, Mountain Dew marketed in Australia and Canada(see Dew Fuel/Mountain Dew Energy varieties below) as well as several U.S. states has no caffeine added at all."

"Classic" Mountain Dew is loaded with caffeine. Dew Fuel may well have more caffeine than the original, but it is by no means a new idea to put caffeine in Mountain Dew. Maybe that is different in Canada, but your "neighbor to the south," has been getting amped on Dew for years! Personally, I think it's nasty, but I admit to drinking it in college during all-night cramming sessions.
As far as getting free stuff, that is just silly. Writing a letter to express your displeasure with Pepsi's products or business practices is a great use of PFB. Asking for unwarranted free stuff is not.

Caffeine free Mountain Dew??? I never heard of that. The whole point of Mountain Dew was always the EXTRA caffeine, more than any other soft drink.
I had no idea there was a caffeine free version, and we certainly don't have it in the U.S., but if that's the way it's sold in Canada, I'm surprised it is no longer available.
So, I guess you have a valid complaint, however, it is unreasonable, even ridiculous, to expect free products when a business decision is made that displeases you.
