This is my letter's final stand as it slips off the Top 20. So I'm giving it one last comment, to round the total off at a nice, round 125 comments.
To anyone who might've wondered what ever happened with my complaint ... absolutely nothing. Never heard a word from them. Which means they won't be seeing any more of my money this summer. Their response tells me how much they value my business - not at all. So screw 'em. Their theater sucks anyway.
I thank everyone for having given me your feedback. Despite the fact that my complaint ended up going nowhere, I still feel justified in having written it. I made my voice heard. That's all I ever really wanted to do anyway.

There most certainly is a scene after the credits. We saw the very first 12am showing on opening day. The entire theater stayed till the end and ah had a big "OMG" moment at the end.
I would be ticked beyond belife if the theater had denied me that final scene, even if it is only about 15 seconds long.

Every so often, movies will put things at the end of the movie. Ferris Buellers Day Off had the hillarious shower scene. Liar Liar had out-takes, and several others have done this as well.
We pay HIGH dollar to see these movies. We have to sit through what feels like hours of commercials. What the heck is THAT all about? Then, they stop th movie, rush you out? OH HELL NO!
I suppose this theater is lucky it happened to you and those others. Had it been me, I would have gone directly to the manager, and said, I am not leaving until I see the very last pixel roll up.
I hope you get passes to see X3 again, AND another movie of your choice, along with free soda and free popcorn. Its the least they can do. It costs them all of 25 cents, and they get huge points for cistomer satisfaction.

I actually like this letter. It's very well written. I saw X-Men 3 a few days ago and I was unaware of the scene at the end. Dammit... Still, the theater should not deny you your money's worth. They probably had another group of people waiting for the next show to begin and they had to clean up, but that's no excuse. The theater should allow more time between showings and not rush people out the door.

I'm really glad that they have the dollar theater where I live. Yeah, the movies came out like a year ago, but it's a lot cheaper. But I'd be super pissed to pay ten dollars only to not see the end. They should refund your money.

That really sucks, Erik. If it isn't bad enough that they overcharge for EVERYTHING in the theater, then they keep you from seeing the ENTIRE movie! There are some people who like to see the credits as well, not to mention an additional scene afterwards.
Good thing this didn't happen to one of the scammers on here. He/she would be demanding a written apology from the theater, as well as apologies from Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Kelsey Grammer, et al, as well as a year-long pass to the movies, as well as a free baby chair so they can eat their popcorn properly, as well as extra butter sauce so they can properly have their popcorn-eating experience, as well as... ahhh you get the picture.

I meant to comment on this. I think this person was right on track. Copyright laws actually prohibit ANYONE from altering a movie. To appease the Mormon community, video stores in Utah literally CUT AND SPLICED "Titanic" to take out some scene in which Kate apparently was topless, they were doing it in a car or something? I never saw that movie because it was too much of an Ultimate Chick Flick, but I remember reading about this in the news, because the company that made the movie sued those video stores and won a few million dollars in copyright infringement.

Wow. I'd be pretty upset. But I don't see why they would make a final scene after the credits, it just seems like a way to get people to actually watch the credits (and it would probably work).
But I cannot find any other source that states the final scene is after the credits. I'm going to see it today so will someone please confirm?
Good luck!

Many moons ago, my then-spouse and I went to see Toy Story at the theatre. We were directed to a certain viewing room number. A cartoon was playing when we got to our seats, so we waited. And waited. Turns out, the usher screwed up and sent us to the room in which the movie was half over, instead of to the appropriate room where the movie had yet to start.
I complained to that user, but he shrugged "whatever dude" and went about this ticket-tearing joy. I found the manager and got our money back (we were from another state, so getting a voucher wouldn't work).
Just sharing.
Also, another poster here recommended you call a manager during the day. I've tried calling a theatre manager during the day (to complain about a very young couple bringing their ONE YEAR OLD BABY -- and holding it up so it could actually see the movie -- to see the violent, profanity-laden film "Ransom") (nevermind that most movies' volumes are too loud for babies' sensitive ears) and the theatre's phone message gave no way to talk to a person. It merely gave movie times, directions, etc. Pressing "0" did nothing but start the recording over.
Grrr. Now you have me all riled up at 8:15 on a Sunday morning.

One would think that with a special ending after the credits, the distribution/production companies would somehow notify the theatres so they could be prepared to keep the film playing beyond the credits.
The ending should be available on the internet by now (thanks to Cosmo Kramer) -- I hope you get to see it without waiting 6 months for it to come out on DVD.

The movie theater gives you 15 minutes of uniterrupted commercials and $317.00 popcorn and you don't get to see the end of a movie. But you want to see the end of the movie? You disgust me with your entitlement mentality and your anti-corporate propaganda. If I weren't half cocked and trying to get ready to go fishing tomorrow I'm sure I'd make even less sense, so there.

I'm not sure it was a mistake, in the sense of happening by accident. It's probably their sneaky way of getting customers out of the theater.
I used to work for AMC Theatres and Cineplex Odeon; managment's goal was to get as many showings of the popular movies in as possible. If that means your ushers have 5 minutes to clean the theater between showings, too bad. (See how I'm dating myself, this was back in the days when they actually did clean the theaters between showings!)
The common trick in those days was to open the exit doors during the final seconds of the final scene. This caused light to pour into the theater, thus discouraging patrons from staying through the credits.
I won't say I'm proud of having participated in such a scheme, but forgive me, I was only 19 and working my way through college, in no position to stand up to the corporate thugs.
Try calling the theater during a weekday, about a half-hour before the first showing of the day. There should be a manager on the premises at that time, to whom you can explain your situation.

Well it's true that we do get mad at people asking for freebies, but that's only because they are greedy. You on the other hand atleast deserve something, such as a movie coupon because what happened was not your fault. It's not like you are expecting something impossible from them, such as unlimited highchairs. You should try and see if they will give you a coupon for your next movie. I don't realy encourage getting freebies for no reason, but you should atleast get something.

Great letter. Very well written and a legitimate complaint.
I should have known though that it was a PFB vet when I read the line "I have no intention of begging for freebies to make things right." LOL!!!

I agree with EricMV. Maybe you should even write to the movie studio to let them know the theatre is not showing the film in it's entirety.
I always stay until the very last credit rolls by, so I'd be upset even if they stopped the film before that. I'd be a crazy person if I knew I missed a scene from the movie.
If nothing else, you should definitely be able to see the entire film for free.

Good thing you're not asking for "freebies", because if their response is anything like the response I got from AMC, what you'll get is a whole load of silence!
Good letter - good job getting to the 15 minutes! :O)

A valid complaint. They violate their distribution agreement by cutting off the movie before the last bit has shown. And you're right: It's disrespectful to the audience.
As far as I am concerned they have to let you see the movie again at no charge, and for your trouble they ought to comp you another movie as well.
Good luck.
