Ok...week two was better.

This time I lost just over 5 pounds which makes for a total of 8 for
the two weeks.

I am happy about that. LOL! Actually, I have a feeling I am actually
losing more inches than anything else already since my clothes are
already getting too big.

Hmm....this might actually work.

First week weigh in and I only lost 2.6 pounds.

That SUCKS!

I did everything right and then I had to go and "start" last night,
right before my first weigh in.

Hopefully next week will be better.

So yeah. Its a new year. And this year I made ONE resolution. I
usually make NONE because I never stick with them. But I think this is
one I can stick to.

I have resolved to do things that make me feel good about myself and
that make me feel good.

I am going to treat myself better not put myself last all the time. I
am going to try to not let what other people say about me or to me
dictate how I feel about myself. I am going to try not to give in and
stuff myself silly every time I get depressed or even happy.

I HAVE started a diet. If you can call it that. I started the Weight
Watchers points system. Today is my third day and I have to say, I
already FEEL different. I feel like I have already lost a little
weight but I wont get on a scale yet. LOL! The first day was good but
a little depressing. Not because of the food. This program is designed
to use REAL food and works well for REAL life. LOL! But because I cant
just graze all day like I normally do. That bothered me.

But yesterday was better on the eating front. I just had NO energy. I
even went back to bed late in the morning AFTER taking a walk with my
nephew. But the food and eating aspect was better and easier. I think
because you CAN eat real food, just certain amounts. So its not like
you are losing anything, just how much you can eat of it. And thats
really not a bad thing.

Today so far I have had a bottle of water and I havent been able to
bring myself to eat yet. Its only 9am but I have been up since 7. I
will eat eventually. LOL!

My biggest problem is getting in all my points. I get a lot and so far
I havent eaten them all yet. They say you are supposed to eat ALL of
them but I cant bring myself to do it. Last night I had a WW ice crem
cup and a WW peanut butter bliss bar and it felt like I was cheating.
LOL! But I was STILL inside my points. LOL! I did do a lot better not
eating the sweets yesterday though. The first day I had an ice cream
and TWO bars. LOL!

I am trying to eat better, exercise, and just treat myself better in
general. I dont want to let people dictate my life to me anymore. I am
trying to become my own person.

Also this year I plan to either get a differnt job or go to some kind
of trade school. I just went to the weekend night shift at my job
which gives me all week to work another job or go to school. I need to
do something else with my life.

So I guess my plan for this year is a complete overhaul of my whole
life! LOL! But I think I can do it. I just have to figure out exactly
what it is i want to be when I grow up. LOL!

by mary jo Posted Wed December 12, 2007 @ 10:46 AM

My dad's German Shepard died yesterday. He has been sick for awhile so
its not like we didnt expect it. He pretty much just wasted away. My
dad took him to the vet. Supposedly they said there was nothing wrong
with him but his body wasnt taking nutrients from the food. He was
still eating until night before last or yesterday morning. But he was
skin and bones. It was so sad to see him dwindling away.

My 8 year old son was outside. I told him that he should probably tell
him good bye, that he was a good dog, thank him for always playing
with him and looking out for him...just in case they had to put him
down when my dad was going to take him today to the vet yet again.

And thats what he did. At this point the dog was still walking around.
He was outside. They talked for awhile and then my son was playing.
Next thing I knew my son ran in the door and said the dog had just
fallen down and died! I didnt believe him. He told me to go look. I
told HIM to go look. He did and came back and said the dog hadnt
moved. So I had to be brave and go check it out. (Yes...I tend towards
the weeny side.)

The dog was in his bed, in his room, and he was completely still with
his eyes open. I called his name and wistled and he didnt move. I
could see his heart was still beating so we stood there and told him
what a good dog he had been and that we loved him and that Jesus and
Mango (my mom's dog that died a few years ago) was waiting for him. I
did this to make my son feel better. We watched as his body completely
shut down.

My son told me he had been in there with him, again telling him he
loved him and what a good dog he was. He said he just fell over ON his
feet. Then he took some really hard breaths and it was over. I told my
son he told him it was ok to go and that was a good thing. He said "I
didnt mean it was ok for him to go NOW!"

I am glad he isnt suffering anymore. My dad was going to take him to
the vet again today and they were probably going to put him down
anyway.

Its very sad and my son is really upset about it. I am sure my dad is
too. When he was child in Germany his father raised and trained German
Shepards and he had always wanted one himself. When his other dogs
died 6 years ago we all got together and gave him Wolfgang as a
birthday gift.

I am just glad that he died in his room, in his own bed, with the
person he loved the most in this world...my son.

So for those who are looking for a reason to continue to crucify
me...here you go. You can be happy that something so sad happend to my
son and my family, and right before Christmas.

That I have offended.

LOL!

Big suprise, huh?

So...MONTHS ago I posted on Literates of PFB on MySpace that I dont
think men have any business being on a website titled MOMMAGE and that
if they are going to bill the site as a place for mothers then thats
exactly what it should be. Since I didnt..and dont...agree with men
being allowed to post and comment on the site I never returned to it
and have no plans to.

However, my points of view and my decision not to back down on them or
be bullied into backing down on them obviously offended some PFB
oldies so that when they moved to another MySpace group..they refused
to invite me. ROFL! This is insanely funny to me. I had no desire to
be there and had only read the old group once or twice since the
Mommage debate. It was the same old crap. "I know so and so is old so
and so with a new profile and name." That was pretty much the extent.
VERY little discussion about the letters posted here. Only who was
stalking who and what should be done to get rid of them. Frankly, it
amazed me how adults were so obsessed over such a thing.

I love PFB. I have been a member for many years now. I have seen
countless people come and go. I might go MIA for awhile but I always
come back. I might lurk for awhile and not post anything..but I am
always around. I have made a few friends while here and I have
witnessed many dramas unfold. I love reading the letters and
occassionally responding.

What I dont understand is why certain people feel the need to be the
PFB police. As soon as someone says something they find as silly,
immature or..god forbid..too close to something someone else has said,
they get all up in arms. Should that person NOT back down, run away,
or change to the way the PFB police think they should act they are
labled trolls or considered to be any number of other by gone PFB
members they thought they had successfully run off.

This got old REAL quick but I thought for sure that these people would
get bored with that game and just go back to responding on the letters
and taking their agression out on the letter writers at least. Sadly,
that didnt happen. And from what I cant tell..its still going on.
Although thankfully, not to the extent that it was.

Oh sure, occassionally the PFB police are correct. But the point
is...SO WHAT?! If this person wants to annoy everyone the only reason
they succeed is because you let them. Ignore them and they will go
away. Keep responding to them and you just drive their passion. I keep
thinking this is an easy concept but obviously, it isnt.

However, I know that some people just LOVE drama and some of the PFB
police thrive off of having someone to crucify every day. Their
obsession is just the same as the people who stalk PFB and post troll
letters and comments. Its just as immature. Its just as pointless.

So I said all that to say this..while I am sorry for offending so many
people with my personal belief..I will not apologize for HAVING said
belief. I still feel the same way. I do find it hard to believe that
after all these months some of you are still SO upset by it that you
would choose to exclude me from one of your sacred private groups.
Some of you that even used to consider me a friend. But, I suppose
that if you CAN be offended..you WILL be offended. Why you took my own
personal thoughts and beliefs so personal yourselves I will never
know.

Frankly, I barely have time for PFB or MySpace as it is and I choose
to spend the time I do have just reading the letters and commenting on
them, and finding something to be happy and positive about. The less
drama I have in my life..the better. I dont need to feed off of anyone
else's, thats for sure! LOL!

So I wanted to let these people know...and you know who you are...that
I know. ROFL! And I wanted you to know that while you think you are
punishing me, you really arent. If I cared what you thought, I would
have read your replies to me in that thread those many months ago. I
didnt. The reason I asked about it is because I had just heard about
it from someone and was curious about it. But I KNEW before I asked
that I had been purposely excluded. Which is fine. If you want to keep
people out of your private club because they dont agree with every
little thing you say and do thats your own problem. I find it highly
amusing!

I am sure this will only further the offense you feel from me. But,
like I said...if you CAN be offended you WILL be offended.

I will let you believe that I am off, crying in my little corner of
the world, because the PFB police wont allow me in their private club
because I wont be a mindless drone following the crowd.

I still dont understand why people are having issues with Target and
returns.

My mom had a dvd she had bought for the kids and it didnt work. It
would not play at all. I told her I wasnt sure if she would get a
refund or exchange on it since it had been opened but she took it back
anyway.

Not only did they let her exchange it, but they gave her the cost of
the dvd on a gift card as well! So basically she got the dvd for
free!

I had to return something a few weeks ago. It took about 3 minutes to
complete the return. The time before that it took less than a minute!
Of course I had the receipt and so did my mom. So maybe thats the
clue! LOL! But we have never, ever, EVER had any problems returning
anything to Target.

Today I used PFB for the first time in a LONG time to send a letter to
a company.

I spent about half an hour writing a very detailed letterd. I clicked
to the next page. All was fine. I picked which faces matched my mood.
Then I clicked to the next page.

It said that the details of my letter were there. But there was
nothing in the box. My letter was GONE! Vanished. It was like I had
never written it. I backed up to the page I had typed it but I knew
before I got there that it was gone.

What a HUGE dissapointment and frustration!

Is this a commen problem or was I just the lucky one?

am just SOOO tired and worn down.

Anyway, in case anyone actually DOES read this I have a question. I am
looking for a new camera. I have a Kodak Easy Share that I have had
for 2-3 years now and I LOVE IT! But I want something better. I want
something that takes more professional looking photos because I am big
into photography. I hope to one day take a class or two but right now
I just do my own thing and learn through trial and error. I am
planning on spending a couple hundred dollars on it.

Anyone have any advice on what I should be looking at?

I know I havent updated my blog in a long time. I have been seriously
busy! Besides working a lot of overtime (which isnt over yet) I had a
BIG birthday party for my son last weekend that I was busy planning
and putting together. His birthday wasnt until yesterday but for
certain reasons we had his party last weekend.

Today I had a baby shower to go to and I have another in a couple of
weeks. I know at least 4 women who are pregnant but one of them is a
life long friend of mine. This is her first pregnancy but her second
child. She adopted her first. Thats whose shower I went to today.

Like I said, I have been working a lot. Lots of overtime at my regular
job and its been about once a week at my second job but its usually
only 4-5 hours for the week. With Easter coming it will be more
though. Which is good because I need the money to pay off my son's
party. LOL!

I have had MAJOR issues with my tax refund. I filed the second of Feb.
and I have yet to get my refund back. It was "flagged" and they are
investigating it. I didnt do anything wrong but supposedly so many
people have, and so many are trying to cheat the government, that I
got flagged and have to suffer for it. There was a couple reasons it
was flagged but I wont go into that here. Its just been REALLY
frustrating because I seriously needed it and I didnt have it when I
REALLY needed it.

But I survive. LOL!

Anyway, I just wanted yall to know that I havent fallen off the face
of the earth. Although I am sure some of you wouldnt mind if I did.
LOL! I have been around a little but I havent been online much the
last few weeks. I am getting a headache now so I guess I will take my
leave. I will talk to you all later.

I am done holding my tongue just to appease everyone. I have stayed
out of all the crap going on around here for a long time now. Mainly
because I felt it didnt matter what I had to say and it wouldnt change
anything anyway.

Have no doubts..I respect everyone and their opinions. That does NOT
mean I agree with you nor does it mean I WILL agree with you just to
make you happy.

Just because I disagree with someone does not mean I lose respect for
them. It also does not mean that I hate you or anything immature like
that. An adult realizes that you can disagree with someone and still
get along and be friends. If you can do that, GREAT! But if you
cant...its not my problem. Just dont assume that if I dont agree with
something you say that it means we can never again have a
conversation.

I dont have time for immaturity. I never have. It has bothered me my
entire life. When I was in junior and senior highschool everyone came
to me for advice and help. I never got involved in all that drama but
everyone who did came to me for advice. I have just never had the
desire to deal with that stuff. I dont even watch soap operas. LOL!

Since I refuse to discuss this anywhere else but here this is what I
will say, and the last time I say it. On this site one needs to be
open minded and respectful. One needs to remember that everyone has a
different opinion and that just because you dont agree with them,
doesnt make them wrong. If you dont agree you can RESPECTFULLY
disagree. You dont have to personally attack someone just for their
personal opinion. In the end, what does their opinion do to hurt you?
Nothing.

If the commentators have no respect for each other then how the hell
can we have respect for the letter writers?! THIS IS MY POINT HERE! If
we attack, fight, bicker, disrespect, ect. each other there is no way
anyone is going to treat a new poster or commentator with anything
other than the same. And this is why so many letter writers get
offended and leave. You have to have a tough skin to use this site and
having been here so long has definately thickend mine. But that
shouldnt be a requirement for using PFB. This is the point I have been
trying in vain to get across to you all.

I am not so sure what is so hard to understand about that.

A new name (or an old name that hasnt been seen for a long time) comes
along and everyone assumes that person is here to cause problems, is
someone else re-incarnated, ect. What does it matter?! Everyone has
the right to give their opinion and so long as it doesnt violate TOS
WHAT DO YOU CARE HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT SOMETHING?!

The whole issue with Giselle and Courtney is a great example. Giselle
has been around a very long time but hasnt been around in awhile. Its
too bad really because I enjoy her view point and posts. She had a
perfectly fine, legitimate opinion she posted to a letter. Courtney
comes along and attacks her for using a PHRASE that Courtney has
deemed over used on PFB. SO WHAT?! Who cares?! What was the point of
even taking the time and space to nitpick about something so trivial?!
Did the use of a phrase really offend so much that it warrented a post
solely to attack Giselle? Was it done because it was assumed Giselle
was a newbie and she needed to be "schooled" in how things work around
here? I dont get it. And frankly, I am so tired of things like that
happening. Then it was transfered over to another thread where Giselle
posted, yet again, a very rational and intelligent comment. What she
said was taken out of context, turned around and used against her.
Dont tell me that it had nothing to do with the first confrontation. I
dont believe that for a second. Courtney unjustly attacked Giselle in
one thread and then she found out that Giselle wasnt going to sit back
and be bullied. She picked on the wrong "newbie". After that Giselle
was nothing but an insitgator in Courtney's eyes and therefore
Courtney took up a supposed offense that didnt belong to her and yet
again attacked Giselle This time wrongly accused her for her OPINIONS.

I realize I have pissed a lot of people off in the last two days. I am
sorry for that but I stand behind my posts and what I have said. There
was no reason for Giselle to be attacked the way she was. It was petty
and immature and just not warrented. The issue was NOT about someone
disagreeing with her, it was about her choice of phrases being
disliked.

We should all take a moment to read what we have written before we
post it. I know I have posted some things that I shouldnt have. Now I
try really hard not to post if I cant think of anything constructive
to say. And that goes for comments TO the comments as well.

It really upsets me that so many people dont see how this pertains to
the exact issues Pete was talking about in his letter. Like I said
before, if we cant have respect for each other then how can we
possibly have respect for the letter writers. Most of us were letter
writers BEFORE we became commentators. How many new commentators do we
lose because we feel the need to be snarky. Yes, being snarky is fun.
But its almost always uncalled for and unwarranted.

Its like a gang or pack of dogs around here! Someone new tries to come
in and everyone goes on the defensive. If a regular goes against what
the general popular opinion is, or disagrees with another regular,
they are shunned. Why is that? I dont understand it. We should be glad
to see new names and points of view. We should be happy to know that
PFB is getting more popular and reaching more people. We should all be
open minded to new ideas. Instead of this mind set that seems to
abound around here that new people or opinions are not welcome or
wanted.

I LOVE PFB! I have since the day I found this place. It has been a
wonderful place for me with my background in retail plus my love of
shopping. It has helped me see customers and employees in a new light
and I try very hard to give both respect in the hopes that they will
return it. I hope that this happens to many other people because Lord
knows that working retail and shopping can be stressfull for all
involved. And obviously, from recent reports, PFB is starting to have
a really solid affect on certain companies from headquarters on down.
Now is NOT the time to start tearing down our own house. Now is NOT
the time to destroy the effectiveness of PFB with petty inside
bickering or by trying to lock the doors and not allow anyone else in.

So I said all that to say this. Give respect to everyone. Give
everyone, newbies included, the right to give their opinion. If you
dont agree with someone then RESPECFULLY disagree. Stop picking on
every little thing like spelling, phrasing, new names, or anything
else. Give everyone a chance and stop peeing on every post just to
mark your territory. There is room here for all.

In the end, if you CAN be offended then you WILL be offended. Its up
to you. I hope this made sense.

Crap like this!

I was working for my mom again today. Let me just say its been a very
long, very hard week. I worked 45 hours in 3 days but I havent had a
day off in more than 3 weeks. I have slept very little. My mom and dad
took the weekend off and went away. I get to cover at the store.

Today I didnt stop working all day except for the break I HAD to take.
I had a lot to but it wasnt too hard. Just steady work. I was about 30
minutes from leaving and I hear some say "Oh no!" really loud and the
sound of glass breaking.

It wasntmuch glass so I wasnt too worried but I KNEW where it had come
from.

We keep a table up with upgraded arrangements on it. I had made 4 of
them this morning and there was 8 total on it. This woman's daughter
had been running through the store and ran into the table.

Since I had only heard one small sound of breaking glass I didnt think
there was TOO much mess.

I made my way over there to find one bud vase knocked over and
shattered. But that wasnt all the mess! Oh no! 6 of the 8 arrangements
were either on their sides on the table or on their sides on the
floor. There was a flood of water everywhere!

I had to bite my lip. Literally. I wanted to kill them! And the mother
just stood there looking at me while I tried to clean it up. Actually
it took three of us to clean it up and I had to take everything back
including the table! And the table is supposed to be up all the time.

Eventually the mother sort of apologized but it was only half
heartedly and she never did even attempt to help clean up the mess.
Her kid had to have been running very fast and hit that table hard
because its a heavy and steady table. I wanted to cry. I really did.I
had spent a lot of time putting that table together this morning and
in a second that one little girl tore it up!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, tomorrow morning, I have to go in and clean it all up and start
all over again. Wonderful.

For a long time now I have wanted to get a tattoo. I have never been
able to decide on what I want but I figured it out months ago and I
have just been waiting to get a little more secure financially before
I went ahead with it. Now I am getting close to being able to get one
and I am getting excited.

What I want is mine and my son's initials on the inside of my left
wrist. I couldnt decide for a long time on color but I think I am
going to just go with black. I dont want it huge or wild or anything.
The letters will be M J J W and I want the two J's interwoven somehow
and the M and the W to look exactly alike except one is up and one is
down of course.

I was going to get it done in December but the day I was going to go
get it done I got scratched by a cat in the exact place I want the
tattoo! I still have red marks where I was scratched so I am trying to
wait those out but I dont know that I will wait much longer.

I also know of a the second tattoo I want. I want to get my son's
footprint that was made when he was born. I want his name above it and
his birthday and birthweight below it. And I want that on the outside
of my ankle. But it will be awhile before that happens.

Actually...all this depends on how much of my tax refund will be taken
up with the dental work I will be having soon. If there is anything
left it will go on my credit card. And THEN..IF there is anything left
I will get my tattoo.

Anyone have any tattoo stories, suggestions, advice?

I wasnt online for almost 4 days and when I came back I expected to
see lots of new letters and posts. But, while there was a lot of new
letters so few of them go un-noticed. I go to Bloglines and read the
letters there and respond from there intead of going through each
different forum here. Its easier that way. And I comment to SO many
letters that I never see make it to the Top 20. But the same old
letters stay there for WEEKS!

I wish that Top 20 letters would "expire" after a week or so.

But, since I am bored right now and NO ONE seems to be on the entire
internet but me..I am posting my MySpace page here so anyone who wants

Problem is its a very touristy city and parking is difficult.

Anyway, this is a peaceful protest and they have it every third
Saturday of the month. I had been erally excited about it but now that
I have to go alone I am not so excited. LOL!

NEW RULES FOR 2007

New Rules for 2007

New Rule: No more gift registries. You know, it used to be just for
weddings.
Now it's for babies and new homes, graduations, and releases from
jail.
Picking out the stuff you want and having other people buy it for you
isn't
gift giving, it's the white people version of looting.

New Rule: Stop giving me that pop-up ad for Classmates.com! There's a
reason
you don't talk to people for 25 years. Because you don't particularly
like
them! Besides, I already know what the captain of the football team is
doing
these days: mowing my lawn.

New Rule: If you need to shave and you still collect baseball cards,
you're
gay. If you're a kid, the cards are keepsakes of your idols. If you're
a
grown man, they're pictures of men.

New Rule: Ladies, leave your eyebrows alone. Here's how much men care
about
your eyebrows: do you have two of them? Okay, we're done.

New Rule: There's no such thing as flavored water. There's a whole
aisle of
this crap at the supermarket - water, but without that watery taste.
Sorry,
but flavored water is called a soft drink. You want flavored water?
Pour
some scotch over ice and let it melt. That's your flavored water.

New Rule: Stop f***ing with old people. Target is introducing a
redesigned
pill bottle that's square, with a bigger label. And the top is now the
bottom.
And by the time grandpa figures out how to open it, his ass will be in
the
morgue. Congratulations, Target, you just solved the Social Security
crisis.

New Rule: The more complicated the Starbucks order, the bigger the
a**hole.
If you walk into a Starbucks and order a "decaf grande half-soy,
half-low
fat, iced vanilla, double-shot, gingerbread cappuccino, extra dry,
light
ice, with one Sweet-n'-Low and one NutraSweet," ooh, you're a huge
a**hole.

New Rule: I'm not the cashier! By the time I look up from sliding my
card,
entering my PIN number, pressing "Enter," verifying the amount,
deciding,
no, I don't want cash back, and pressing "Enter" again, the kid who
is
supposed to be ringing me up is standing there eating my Almond Joy.

New Rule: Just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it
doesn't make
you spiritual. It's right above the crack of your ass. And it
translates to
"beef with broccoli." The last time you did anything spiritual, you
were
praying to God you weren't pregnant. You're not spiritual. You're just
high.

New Rule: Competitive eating isn't a sport. It's one of the seven
deadly
sins. ESPN recently televised the US Open of Competitive Eating,
because
watching those athletes at the poker table was just too damned
exciting.
What's next, competitive farting? Oh wait. They've already doing that.
It
was called "The Howard Stern Show."

New Rule: I don't need a bigger mega M&M. If I'm extra hungry for
M&Ms, I'll
go nuts and eat two.

New Rule: and this one is long overdue: No more bathroom attendants.
After I
zip up, some guy is offering me a towel and a mint like I just had s**
with
George Michael. I can't even tell if he's supposed to be there, or
just some
freak with a fetish. Don't want to be on your webcam, dude. I just
want to
wash my hands.

New Rule: When I ask how old your toddler is, I don't need to know in
months: "27 Months." Instead, "he's two," will do just fine. He's not
a
cheese
------------------------------------------------------

This is obviously written by a man but I thought it was funny. My only
problem is the eyebrow thing. No wonder I cant find a man. I only have
one!

This letter to the editor recently appeared in an Oregon newspaper:

Don't Help People Sit on their Rears

I have a question, not only for Douglas County, but for the entire
state of Oregon. Like most people in this state, I have a job. I
work, I get paid. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my
taxes as they see fit. In order for me to continue earning my
paycheck, my employer requires me to periodically pass a random urine
test. I have absolutely no problem complying with that request.

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to
people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to
pass a urine test to get a welfare check, because I have to pass one
to go earn it for them?

I don't have a problem with helping people get back on their feet.
However, I do have a problem with helping someone sit on their butt
and use my tax money to get high. Could you imagine how much the
government would save every year if all welfare recipients had to pass
a urine test in order to collect their welfare check?

And STOP replying to Adam and SueNY!

PLEASE!!!!!

Dont you understand that they WANT the attention? They want a flame
war. They want everyone to know their name.

Adam has (or had) two letters in the Top 20 for days now. Why? Because
he makes a stupid comment or remark and everyone has to jump to the
defense. Let him say what he wants. He only makes himself look like a
fool! But keep chomping at the bait he is throwing you and you run the
risk of joining his club.

He is just another of those who get mad at everyone because no one
agreed with his letter of complaint. Big deal. We have seen it
before.

As for SueNY. Well, I am not quite sure WHAT her problem is. She likes
to accuse people of things without thinking too much about what she is
saying. She is beyond offensive. But she too seems to thrive on
controversy. And you make her happy every time you respond to her.

So please. Cant we please just ignore the two of them?! They might not
go away but at least we can remove their "power" so to speak.

I am all for people having their say but it has become painfully
obvious that neither Adam nor Sue has anything constructive to add to
this site and only want to bring chaos and disorder.

I posted this here, instead of the Suggestion Box becasue I feel that
this is what blogs are meant for. And because I dont want to give Adam
and Sue anymore publicity than they should get.

I am always dealing with seriously dry and cracked lips. They are
ALWAYS like this no matter what I do. So I am always looking for new
things to try.

The other day I saw something new from Sally Hansen. Its called Sally
Hansen 24 Hour Lip Treatment. And its garbage.

Its cost me like 5 bucks. Maybe more. I dont spend that much for
Burt's Bees and thats some good stuff! Supposedly after using it for
24 hours your lips are supposedly to be soft and healthy and blah blah
blah. Let me tell you, my lips would have been better off if I hadnt
used anything! They are WORSE now then they were before I started
using it. Nothing has gotten better at ALL!

I have been using it now for 5 days so it isnt like I didnt give it
enough time. And then, to make it worse, today the tube fell apart!

They also have a new product that is supposed to give you brand new
lips and some how heal dry cracked lips in like 5 minutes. You put it
on and then minutes later wipe it off and you have perfect lips. I was
going to give that a try too but now there is no way I will waste my
money on it.

Anyway...just thought I would let yall know.

by mary jo Posted Tue December 19, 2006 @ 9:04 PM

If its so offensive
to remove the word Christ from a man made word that was attached to a
pagan holiday that Christians STOLE then why ISNT it offensive to
have
attached Christ's name to the pagan holiday in the first place?! Why
arent Christians up in arms about THAT?!

That being said...I have this to say about the below post and
comments. I stand by what I said in reference to papaspot's letter. It
was a very immature and crass letter although I will say it was a good
suggestion. But if I had received that in my inbox at some company I
would have immediately thrown it away. My comment that it was a mature
letter (sarcasm fully intended) was very mild considering. It was a
rude, obnoxious letter and he could have gone so much further with
just a little kindness and tact. So, I stand by my comment and if
papaspot now wants to follow me and flame me all over PFB so be it.
Wont be the first time and I doubt it will be the last. I had been
missing having a "fan". Nice to know I have one again. Its been a long
time. So please, post whatever you want in my blog. It doesnt bother
me. See, I dont let some typed words on a screen offend me.

And to those who offended me, all women I see, thank you very much. I
guess we have to stick together and not let some men think they have
control over every aspect of our lives just because we were born
different parts. I am glad to see though that everyone other than
papaspot understood my post. I hadnt read my blog in awhile and had no
idea all that was going on.

But please, dont let this take away from the point of this post which
was to ask the above question.

Merry Christmas to all if I dont get another chance to say it.

by mary jo Posted Sat December 2, 2006 @ 7:40 PM

Today I was out doing a little shopping. I got REALLY hungry. I mean,
usually I can just wait until I get home but this was the kind of
hunger that makes you sick. So I pulled into a fast food place that
was in front of some apartments that, well, its just not a very good
neighborhood. Its on a very busy street though and that usually keeps
the crazies at bay.

Usually.

While I was sitting (third in line) at the drive thru..with my window
down..I heard the shouts and screams and laughter of some guys who
were coming. They werent even in the parking lot yet but they were
LOUD. Just being stupid, not doing anything wrong. It was a few
minutes before I actually saw them.

They didnt stop at the first car in the drive thru. I think it was a
big truck or something. But they went to the window of the car in
front of me and was yelling things at them. I started getting really
nervous at this point because I had my window down and its a crank
window. Plus I was alone and there was 4 of them.

I was hoping they would just keep walking but they didnt. One of the
guys..the biggest..stopped at my passenger side window and starts in
on all this crap like "Oh you are cute! I like white girls! Want some
of this? You know you want it!" And started making motions having to
do with oral sex!!! Then a young boy walked up with him and was
watching him.

At first I didnt look at him but I finally turned to look at him. I
never changed the expression on my face. Never showed fear or anger.
Just annoyance I suppose. I told him that was something really nice he
was teaching that kid. Then he started LICKING MY WINDOW!!! He went on
and on and thought it was the funniest thing.

So..I figured I had a few options here. I could either let him keep
licking my window or I could lay on my horn or I could run his ass
over.

Since neither the first or the last options were very good ideas I
decided to lay on my car horn. I did....and he ran. I heard him yell
"Oh S***!" and he took off. And so did all the other guys. I turned my
car mirror so I could see if they came back because then I got really
worried about them retaliating. But they didnt. Just took off to their
apartments.

When I got to the window the guy working there said "Did they try to
get in your car or something?" All that time I was thinking no one saw
what was going on but when I found out that someone had..and no one
came to help me..I got mad! I didnt say anything to him because
really, I wouldnt have expected him or anyone else to come help. But I
guess they would have just watched from the window if I was being
robbed..or worse.

Its times like this that I REALLY HATE being single.

Today at a hospital here in town a lady went into the hospital
pharmacy to get her meds. She wasnt happy about how much they cost and
tried to get the lady working the register to reduce them for her. Of
course she couldnt do that and this woman got really mad.

I mean...really...REALLY mad.

She pulled out a gun and shot the cashier 3 times!
She then tried to leave the hospital but thankfully only got as far as
the parking lot before the cops caught up with her.

The cashier died.

This example is extreme of course but it still shows very well how too
many customers think of employees and how they treat them.

family tradition of giving by making a donation through the

I think this works well for everyone. You can stay home and donate

I just want to point this out even though I dont really want to keep
this in the top 20 any longer that it has to be.

But...if anyone were to go through the letters OTHER than the 15
Minutes Of Fame or the Top 20 you will find plenty of calm, rational,
respectful responses. I have spent the last couple of hours going
through the pull down menu and checking out letters in lots of other
forums and I found few, if any, rude or over the top responses to the
letters. And those responding to those letters are all "regulars".
There are many...MANY commentator's names you will see on the Top 20
or 15 MOF letters that you will not see on most of the letters other
places.

I think that should tell you something. But I wont make any
judgements
about it. Draw your own conclusions. I have already made my own.

I am back to cleaning out my stuff that came out of storage and the
house I used to live in. I started back in, like June I think and it
was so emotionally devestating to me that I had to stop. But..I am
doing a little better today.

But let me ask yall this. Think of the most special things you have
from your wedding. Wine glasses, the cake cutter, the cake topper.
What about something from your honeymoon? Pictures, souviners. How
about your first anniversary?

Now tell me what the HELL do you do with that stuff when you get
divorced?!?!?!

I cant throw it out...but I cant keep it. I cant stand to look at it
but it breaks my heart to get rid of it. WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!

I just keep taking it from one box and putting it in another. Its
breaking my heart!!!!!

And then all the damned letters and cards sent back and forth. We sent
more letters than we actually spoke in person for a long time. I cant
throw them away. I keep thinking that maybe one day Johnathan will
read them and know that at one time we DID love each other. I just
keep thinking that we have been seperated for 8 months now and
divorced not quite a month and I think I should be past this. It
shouldnt be affecting me so much anymore. But it does. I dont feel
anything for him anymore. I am just sad for what we had and what I
assumed we would have. It was my fairy tale come true...where did my
happily ever after go?

Its just too much. But I am making some good headway so I dont want to
stop now. I just came in to put on my shoes and socks because I
dropped a glass candle holder and it broke everywhere. It also dropped
on my toe cutting it open. When I moved I stepped backwards into my
garbage bag and something in there cut my leg. So now I am bleeding
from two places and when I went to put my shoes on (on my parent's
light blue carpet) I noticed there is a lot of dirt coming from them
which is now on the carpet!

I had to take a break for a minute. There is sweat literally pouring
off my face and neck. You cant tell if it is sweat or tears so I guess
that is good.

Anyway, I need to get back out there before I lose the drive.

Just needed to vent.

I have seen that most of us have this stuff listed beside our blogs.

My Special Interests

Talking to the "media" about your experiences with key products
Being a member of the PlanetFeedback "Advisors Club
Moderating or actively participating in PlanetFeedback discussion
forums
Periodically responding to customer satisfaction surveys about
brands, products, or services
Authoring a dedicated blog or "column" on PlanetFeedback dedicated
to a certain issue
Rating, reviewing, or critiquing company "contact us" forums on
their websites
Serving as a PlanetFeedback "mystery shopper" and periodically run
spot checks on customer servic
Making myself available to companies for online or offline focus
groups to help them improve products or customer service

But does anyone know what it means? Has anyone done anything regarding
these things? I am just curious because other than an occassional
email I dont ever hear anything from PFB. I did get an email once
inviting me to do something but at the time I was too busy to do it.

I hope you arent upset about anything.

Please come back soon!!!!

I am going to post this in my blog too in case you dont see it here at
the bottom of all these replies.

Actually, since I posted this on your blog I noticed that you have
been around but for some reason I guess I havent seen you. You havent
updated your blog in awhile and thats unusual for you. Anyway, I was
worried about you. You seem pretty quiet lately. Did all that
moderator stuff upset you?

I hope you know that I wasnt upset about having moderators and
certainly not that YOU were one. I think there probably isnt anyone
else alive that would make a better moderator than you. Actually, I
was all for moderators. I was just really suprised to see the changes
in the site...well, the commentators...after the mods were put in
place. That really concerned me and I will admit that I did feel
things were stressed around here. But it was something that happend
AFTERWARDS. I was, and still am really, in complete agreement with
having moderators. I wish that more time had been given to see if
things would have changed or gone back to normal after a couple of
weeks or something. I think the whole idea was given up on too fast.
But I guess too many people complained about it. I dont know.

I just hope you didnt take my blog about it personally. It didnt have
anything to do with having mods or who was choosen as mods. Just my
observation of how things had changed since yall were put in place. I
never expected that the whole idea would be pulled so quickly.

Anyway, I hope you are doing ok. I miss talking to you.

stand. You ignore them as long as possible. Maybe even try to get
along with them for the sake of everyone around. But that person just
really grates on your nerves to no end! They are rude, obnoxious,
immature and takes everything personally. And eventually, finally, you
just SNAP! You cant handle dealing with them anymore and you finally
start letting them know how you feel. Of course, it never goes well.
Consider who you are talking to (about). Of COURSE it wont go well!
LOL!!

But hey, at least its out in the open and it lets a little pressure
off you. They are pissed off and wounded but, then again, they always
are.

Sometimes you just have to look out for your own mental health I

feat for me but I did it. And to be the sole receipient of those
smiles and laughs was more than enough to give me hope to keep going.

I think its really making us closer the more things I do just with the
two of us and of course its empowering to me to be able to depend on
myself. To know that I CAN do this. I can find my own way. I can
handle whatever comes my way.

But it did occur to me that being a single mother IS a blessing in
disguise. You expect it to be hard mentally, emotionally and
physically. But you dont expect the heartwarming smiles, hugs, thank
you's to be AS special as they are. It seems to mean more when you
know its for you and you alone. Its bittersweet I suppose.

Also, the fact that we can go and do things without tons of drama and
stress makes things SOOO much better! LOL!

Anyway, I just wanted to share. I wasnt sure I could do this single
mom thing but it gets easier every day.

I will admit that I am one of the ones who feels it has become
necessary to walk on eggshells around here. I know its been said that
it isnt warrented but really...it just seems like the life has gone
out of PFB. Its kind of sad. I know I have not posted a comment to
MANY letters lately because I figure what I have to say might be OFF
the TOS so I cant say it. Not that it will necessarily be wrong but
who knows. I dont want to risk it. I have ticked off too many people
in the past to risk it. LOL!

I hope that things can go back to the way they were..with people being
funny and friendly and having a good time, even with the mods.

By the way, I wanted to say that I dont have one issue at all with the
mods and thought it was a good idea to add them. I think they were
good choices and I like all of them. I dont think the mods are the
problem. Its just a perception issue I guess. The problem has come
from what everyone perceives will happen should anyone "mess up".

And then again, I am guessing that there are some people who are upset
that they werent choosen for the job or think they could do it
better.

Just my opinion.

I have been trying to think of something to post for a few days now
and I cant think of anything. So, I will just tell you what happend
today.

We have this older couple that lives in the house behind ours. My mom
and dad have been friends with them for many years now. Well, the man
had cancer and he died this week. Sad yes but also good that he isnt
suffering anymore. There has been TONS of people over there for 3 or 4
days now and for the most part it hasnt been too bad except trying to
get out onto the street because we cant see the traffic coming.

Last night was the viewing and afterwards everyone was over there
eating, drinking, laughing and having a good old time. Not a big deal
because they didnt stay out there too late thanks to the rain.

Today was the funeral and afterwards they, again, all came back to the
house. Now, I didnt find any of this unusual. Thats what people do
after funerals. What I DID find unusual was the TAILGATE PARTY they
had!! Today was the Florida/Georiga game. A long standing rivalry game
that is a BIG deal. I am sure they would have had the party if they
hadnt been having a funeral but I couldnt believe they were having the
party AFTER the funeral! They brought a big wide screen tv out onto
the carport and all sat around drinking beer and watching the game.
And of course, screaming and yelling at it while their kids played
football in the front yard screaming and yelling.

(Just as an aside...these are NOT rednecks even though it sounds like
it. LOL!)

They were so loud they woke up my sister when she was sleeping this
afternoon after her night shift at work.

Later on my sister was outside with her son pushing on the swing and I
HAD to let the inside dog out. She had to go! So I did and after
awhile my sister brought her back in and she was all upset. Seems that
one of the kids next door came up to our fence and our dog started
barking at him. When that happend a man started yelling "Stay away
from that dog! It will bark all night!" Then he started going on about
how he was going to turn the hose on our dog. At this point my sister
stood up and said "You are going to do WHAT?" I dont think he knew she
was out there because it was almost dark and we have bushes between
the yards. My sister then informed him that she would turn the hose
back on HIM if he tried it.

After a little while I took the dog back out AND I let the german
shepard out as well. LOL! My sister was saying how the guy kept
cussing and yelling and still complaining about the dog. She then
informed him that she didnt appreciate their yelling and screaming and
his cussing either. I then found a toy of my son's that makes a lot of
noise and added that to the barking dogs.

I know that it sounds horrible considering that they were supposedly
"grieving" but I figure if they could get past that and have a
tailgate party then their grief wasnt too bad. LOL! I mean, you would
have NEVER known they had all just had a family member die and buried
him today. It ticked me off! I swear, if the guy had said one more
thing about the dogs I was going to call the cops.

We are sensitive about the dogs barking but DOGS BARK! Especially when
some kid they have never seen before comes too close to their
territory. My dogs NEVER bark at the neighbors and wouldnt have barked
at those kids if they hadnt of provoked her.

Um...ok. Thats my story. LOL!

For weeks all I have heard is how everyone is going to be nicer and
more respectful. Everyone is going to try and not attack people for
the little things...everyone was turning over a new leaf so to speak.

And for the most part everyone did.

But one little letter about a pair of glasses threw everyone off!!!

Not only are people being rude to the letter writter but they are also
being rude to each other. What happend??!! I read the letter and most
of the comments but I dont see what was so bad about the letter. And I
dont understand why it riled everyone up so much.

Anyone care to comment?? Can someone explain to me what happend and
how this one letter threw weeks of respectful posts all to heckie-poo?

PFB is a site for people to send letters to companies asking them a
question, giving them a compliment or suggestion or making them aware
of a problem...right?

So why is it that so many people respond to a letter telling them they
should have spoken with a manager or called instead? If everyone did
that wouldnt it put PFB out of business?

But also, a website like this oneis perfect for someone like me who is
PAINFULLY shy in real life and would rather DIE than confront someone
face to face. Now, I will if I am pushed too far. But for the most
part I dont see the problem with going home, calming down and writing
a letter. Besides, having been on the other side of the cash register,
so to speak, I am fully aware that most time a complaint made at store
level goes NOWHERE and is often blow off and ignored. I know that
going over the store manager is usually the only way you will get
anything accomplished.I also know that MOST (NOT ALL) managers are so
full of themselves that they cant even deal with customers or their
complaints or questions.

I guess it just annoys me to see people posting replies to a letter,
on a website designed to do just that, telling them they shouldnt have
written a letter. Makes no sense to me.

Now, I understand if it was something simple. Like someone wrote a
letter to a company wanting to know why certain items were no longer
carried in one particular store. Of course the best way to find out
would have been to ask the store manager. That just makes sense. But
those kinds of questions and complaints are really few and far between
from what I have read.

I am not trying to offend anyone. I am just curious. I mean really, it
doesnt make sense to me. And to be honest, if I was someone working
for PFB those kinds of responses would offend me and feel like a slap
in the face. I realize everyone is entitled to their opinion but
comments like that just seem counterproductive to PFB's purpose and
goal.

That most of the guys you see not wearing a shirt are exactly the guys
who SHOULD be wearing a shirt?! LOL!

I understand it is socially acceptable for men to go around without a
shirt. But that doesnt mean you SHOULD!

I am not talking just about overweight men..or hairy men. But the too
skinny men or saggy men is, to me, more frightening! LOL!

This thought came to my mind as I am watching tv and a rock group is
performing and one of the guys isnt wearing a shirt. And from what I
have seen of this group he rarely wears a shirt. But he is one of
those very skinny..and very white even (even with all the tattoos) and
really isnt appealing. I am sure that with clothes on he wouldnt look
half bad.

So why is it? Now, if I were a guy and I knew I didnt have like..a
perfect body..there is NO WAY you would catch me walking around
without a shirt. Not even at the beach! LOL! I think it is just commen
courtesy to cover up unless you are, like, perfection! LOL!

Think About This One!!! It is short but very interesting!

A car company can move it's factories to Mexico and claim it's a
free
market.

A toy company can out source to a Chinese subcontractor and claim
it's
a free market.

A shoe company can produce its shoes in south east Asia and claim
it's
a free market.
A major bank can incorporate in Bermuda to avoid taxes and claim
it's
a free market.

We can buy HP Printers made in Mexico. We can buy shirts made in
Bangladesh. We can purchase almost anything we want from 20 different
countries

BUT, heaven help the senior citizens who dare to buy their
prescription drugs from a Canadian pharmacy. That's called
un-American!

Stella Awards!
Time once again to review the winners of the Annual "Stella Awards."
The Stella Awards are named after 81 year-old Stella Liebeck who
spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued McDonald's (in
NM). That case inspired the Stella Awards for the most frivolous,
ridiculous, successful lawsuits in the United States
Here are this year's winners:
------------------------------------------------------
5th Place (tie)

Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $80,000. by a jury of

her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was
running inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were
understandably surprised at the verdict, considering the misbehaving
little toddler was Ms. Robertson's son.

5th Place (tie)

19-year-old Carl Truman of Los Angeles won $74,000 and medical
expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Mr.

Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the

car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps.

5th Place (tie)

Terrence Dickson of Bristol, Pennsylvania, was leaving a house he had

just finished robbing by way of the garage. He was not able to get the

garage door to go up since the automatic door opener was
malfunctioning. He couldn't re-enter the house because the door
connecting the house and garage locked when he pulled it shut. The
family was on vacation, and Mr. Dickson found himself locked in the
garage for eight days. He subsisted on a case of Pepsi he found, and a

large bag of dry dog food. He sued the homeowner's insurance claiming

the situation caused him undue mental anguish. The jury agreed, to the

tune of $500,000. In my opinion this is so outrageous that it should
have been 2nd Place!

4th Place

Jerry Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded $14,500. and
medical expenses after being bitten on the buttocks by his next door
neighbor's beagle. The beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced
yard. The award was less than sought because the jury felt the dog
might have been just a little provoked at the time by Mr. Williams who

had climbed over the fence into the yard and was shooting it
repeatedly with a pellet gun.

3rd Place

A Philadelphia restaurant was ordered to pay Amber Carson of
Lancaster, Pennsylvania, $113,500. after she slipped on a soft drink
and broke her coccyx (tailbone). The beverage was on the floor because

Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an

argument.

2ndPlace

Kara Walton of Claymont, Delaware, successfully sued the owner of a
night club in a neighboring city when she fell from the bathroom
window to
the floor and knocked out her two front teeth. This occurred while Ms.

Walton was trying to sneak through the window in the ladies room to
avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge . She was awarded $12,000 and
dental expenses

1st Place

This year's runaway winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma. Mrs. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor

home. On her first trip home, (from an OU football game), having
driven onto the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and
calmly left the driver's seat to go into the back & make herself a
sandwich. Not surprisingly, the RV left the freeway, crashed and
overturned. Mrs.Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising her in the
owner's manual that she couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded
her $1,750,000. plus a new motor home. The company actually changed
their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any
other complete morons around.

I guess I should tell yall what happend last week with my car and with
Enterprise. I dealt with this first BEFORE the whole hair issue so as
you can imagine..I was wishing I had just stayed in bed all week! LOL!

Last Tuesday I went to pick up my son from school. It was 102 inside
my car so I went to roll down the windows to let the heat out. The
driver's side window went down about 3/4th of the way and stopped and
the passenger side didnt go down at all. I was freaking out. Havent
even had this car a year yet! And I just paid the bill yesterday. It
was brand new off the line when we got it. It had 3 miles on it!

So I drove it to his school thinking maybe the heat had warped
something and when it cooled off it would work. I even tried stopping
and turning off the car to see if it would work. No such luck.

But the time I got to his school it still wasnt working and my window
was stuck down. Not good with a tropical storm a-coming! LOL! So I
called the dealership service dept. and begged to bring it in asap.

We got there and had to wait well over an hour to be told that it was
a fuse and it was fixed now. I thought great! I could maybe get home
in time to get a nap in before I go back to work at 7pm. Oh yeah, I
forgot. I was already going in an hour early but then they called and
asked me to come in TWO hours early to cover for someone who couldnt
come in because they were sick at their stomach. WHATEVER!

Anyway, I get down the road and figure I better check the winows. The
driver side went down and back up fine. Then I tried the passenger
side and it didnt do a thing!!! Then I tried the driver side and it
wasnt moving again either!! GRRRR!!!!

So I had to take it back and leave it with them again. I had my son
with me and he was trying to get his homework done in between all
this. We were both tired and hungry. So after about another 15 or 20
minutes they came back and told me that they are going to have to pull
the door panel and check the electrical system and the engine to see
why the fuses keep blowing and that it wouldnt be until late the next
day before it was done. I would have to either wait it out and hope
that it would be done before going back to work at 6:30 or I could get
a rental car.

Well, since everything is still under warranty I got the rental car.

They drove me down to Enterprise and told me it wasnt going to cost me
anything. Yeah...right. First off they wanted a major credit card to
put a 25 dollar reservation or something on it. "Just in case". They
said they wont charge me for it unless I dont bring the car back or it
gets messed up or something.

Then they asked if I wanted the insurance. It was 18 dollars and I
figured that since I had never been in a wreck (well, once. But I
wasnt driving.) that if it ever happend this would be the time. So I
got it.

Then they informed me about the gas. Of course, whatever I use I have
to replace. Which is all fine and well except this wasnt supposed to
cost me anything!

I had traded in my not even a year old Saturn Ion Quad Coup for an old
Pontiac Sunfire. I didnt like it at all but I guess it was better than
nothing.

The next day, after I woke up, I checked the answering machine to see
if Saturn had called and they had around 11:30 or so, left a message
telling me my car was finished and ready to be picked up anytime and
to please call them and let them know when I would be there to pick it
up.

I called and told them I would be there between 2:30 and 3. I had to
get my son at 2 and I was taking the rental back myself because I
wanted them to charge my debit card for the insurance instead of my
credit card since I am trying to pay that off. Plus I had to put gas
in it.

So, (and as you know Ernesto was gracing us with not much more than
rain...but plenty of it) I got my son, got gas, and went to
Enterprise. We werent there long and then they drove us back to
Saturn.

We get to Saturn and they tell me that I need to go to the cashier to
check out and she has my papers. So I go over there and....no papers.
She went to look for them and when she finally came back she said it
would be a few minutes before she got them. So I went to wait. Next
thing I know the service manager (who I REALLY dont like. He talks to
you like you are wasting his time) came to tell me that the car was
NOT fixed!

They said they checked this and that and whatever, replaced the
buttons or something for the windows and some wiring but the fuse was
blown again and they had no idea what was wrong and would have to keep
it for another day or so. He also informed me that Enterprise was on
their way back with my rental.

I was FURIOUS!!! I had spent two days and FAR too much of my sleeping
time dealing with this now.

They had almost 4 hours to check the car to see if it was working!
Even when I called them they had an hour and a half before I would be
there to find out.

And what the hell could be wrong with it?!?!?! Its not even a year
old! They are talking Master Cylinder here. What does that mean?!

I asked the guy if he had any idea how long this was going to take
because I am supposed to be sleeping during the day since I work at
night and I have already lost a lot of sleep over this and now I will
be spending yet another day there tomorrow! He was like "Oh, Saturn
will cover the rental." That wasnt what I asked...

I was standing there waiting for the lady from the rental place to
come back and I was literally crying! I swear I have lost my mind!!! I
wanted MY car back! I just paid the bill on it and now cant drive it.
I think they should be paying ME every day I cant have my car back.

After all that my dad came inside around 7pm that night and said "You
know your back right tire is flat." Uh...no! Oh yeah..it was almost
completely flat on the rental. So he took it off and checked it and
found out that the tire isnt on the rim correctly. So he put the
doughnut on it and while he was doing that we realized that the front
left tire was going flat as well!

I was PISSED! I called Enterprise knowing full well they were closed
but they supposedly have road side assistance. Guess what?! Not a
thing they could do for me. They said there was ONE location still
open where I could change it out at. Yeah...at the AIRPORT almost an
hour from here and completely in the opposite direction from where I
live. And the only roadside service they offer is basically if you
lock yourself out of the car. They dont send anyone out for flat
tires.

So I had to borrow my mom's car to go to work because there was no way
I was driving a rental car with one half flat tire and one doughnut
tire across town and the 3 mile bridge over the water, in the dark
during the tropical storm!! I get home this morning and the left front
tire is DEFINATELY flat.

I called Enterprise back to see if they could come fix this. The woman
kept trying to talk me into driving it in! I told her I didnt feel
comfortable doing that and she was going on about how they could
change it out if it cant be driven. Not my problem!! Just come get
this piece of crap out of my driveway and get me a car that works
right!!! I didnt say that of course. Just made sure she knew I had not
driven the car except from there to home and that since I work nights
and sleep during the day I didnt have all day long to figure this out.

I had planned on just driving it to pick up my son and then taking the
thing back after that if my car was ready but since the second tire is
going flat that wasnt going to happen. Plus i am not sure that the
other two tires arent going flat as well! She kept saying "Well, when
you finish your nap....Call us back when you get up from your nap..."
Excuse me! Do you call your night time sleep a NAP?! I was going on
seriously very little sleep last week and I was NOT in the mood
anymore!

I got my second rental car JUST in time to go pick up my son. Nothing
special. Then I had to drive through blinding rain to take it back to
Saturn. Of course, I had to stop and put gas in it...costing me
another 7 dollars on something that "wont cost me anything".

I also had to sit in bumper to bumper traffic because on one of the
busiest streets in town they had one lane closed off. I pulled off to
get gas and then for the LIFE of me I couldnt figure out how to get
the gas cover open! LOL! I searched high and low. I felt like such an
idiot because you know men are standing there judging women on stuff
like this. But I FINALLY found a lever beside the seat on the floor.
Something they MIGHT have wanted to tell me! But the woman was real
snippy when she came to change the cars. Didnt even change my paper
work or give me any copies of the change.

So I FINALLY make it back to Saturn and of course, they couldnt find
my paper work again!! They finally found it and she just gave me some
papers and said that was it. I had already asked and the guy said
there was a frayed and scorched wire in the door that was shorting out
the fuses. On a practically band new car?! Anyway, I was expecting to
have to pay for the oil change so when I went to get the keys I asked
if they had done it and he was like "uh...we were supposed to do an
oil change? Who did you talk to?" I had called back on Tuesday when I
got home and told them since it was due to just go ahead and do that
while they had it. The guy who answered said they would add it to the
paperwork.

So they had my car for two days and I STILL have to take it back soon
for an oil change.

Oh..but to make up for me going in yesterday and not being able to get
my car they completely detailed my car front and back, inside and out.
So now its all greasy and of course my car has crap all in it thanks
to Johanathan and Josiah and all my STUFF...like stuff for my divorce
and atm receipts. I even had the bloody gauze from when I had my tooth
pulled sitting in there. Yeah..I know. GROSS! I just hadnt gotten
around to throwing it out. I clean out my car every time I get gas but
didnt see it until I got to Saturn. I tried to hide it thinking they
would only have the car for a few hours at best. I had no idea they
were going to go in and start going through all my stuff. They threw
out all the napkins I had been hording. I keep all the extra napkins I
get when I go out to eat. Since my eye waters all the time I keep them
around for when I dont have a paper towel and of course, they come in
handy when you have messy kids. I wasnt given a chance to get anything
from the car and my son's lunchbox was in there and he had to go to
school two days in a row without it.

Today I got a phone call from Enterprise wanting to know how my
experience went. Needless to say someone else is going to be calling
me back to discuss what happend. LOL!

Saturn usually sends out forms to fill out after you have work done to
grade them and I am waiting to see if they do that before I complain
about them. At this point I dont know that I even want to take it back
there for the oil change.

sorry its so long. It was a rough week...

I went to Regis today to get my hair cut. Thats where I went last
time and it turned out so well I thought I should go back there.

I asked if someone could cut my hair and Natalie said she could..then
asked if I wanted color to which I said no. OMG I should have stuck to
that decision!!!!! We started going through books to pick out the cut
and style. I told her I wanted it cut but not too short..but not too
long either. It was about between my shoulder blades and just too much
to deal with. Besides, it wont style. At some point I changed my mind
about wanting the color. Figured I would just go ahead and get it done
there because I knew I could get what I wanted and it would last
longer. I was justifing it to myself saying "You get what you pay
for!" WRONG!

I decided I wanted to go brown, back to my natural color but not quite
that dark. I wanted to have it more golden brown. I told her how I
have red pigment in my hair..even showed her my son's picture so she
could get an idea of the gene pool she was dealing with here. He has
flaming red hair, eyelashes and eyebrows. I told her that my hair will
pick up on the slightest amount of red. She was measuring my root
color with something and had all these books and charts and was
talking like she really knew what she was doing. She was so happy and
positive! "I am a messy colorist but I am a GOOD colorist! We are
going to have FUN! We are going to have a good day! Gonna get you
looking hot so you can go out and get some guy's phone numbers!" I
allowed myself to feel excitment. I allowed myself to get happy. I
allowed myself a few minutes of NOT feeling depressed. I should have
known better.

Lets just say that 4 and a half hours later she was apologizing
profusely and they didnt charge me.

For some reason she had decided to add just a TOUCH of red to the
brown and gold colors she was putting in my hair. Do you know what
colors make up gold? Red and yellow. So she added red, to red, and was
shocked when my hair turned out a dark burgandy..almost purple! The
roots were fine. The roots were the golden brown color we were going
for. The rest was this amazing shade of slate gray black with burgandy
purple highlights!!!

She put something on it to supposedly lighten it up and put me under
the heater for a long time. That didnt work. She kept washing it and
washing it and washing it. By the time we were done my scalp was
KILLING ME! And I am NOT tender headed. Whatever she did to it...made
it DARKER! I am NOT kidding! So she decided to strip it. Her manager
was helping her by this point and they were working together. They
were stripping just the shaft..not the roots. Trying like hell to
lighten it up. She kept saying "You told me your hair grabs on to
red..I should have listened better."

Finally, when she was stripping it she said that the ends were
starting to get bad so she had to rinse it off. Basically my hair is a
dark shade of brown. VERY dark. At least it isnt black anymore. But it
is NOT the color I wanted. I was trying to look younger and more
VIBRANT. Now I just look old. They gave me three tubes of hair repair
serum to put in my hair every two to three days and wanted me to come
back in two weeks to have the color fixed. Do you REALLY think I am
going back? You get ONE guess!

As for the cut...NOTHING like it was supposed to be. At that point I
just wanted the hell out of there. It was supposed to be kind of
chunky layers with long bangs. Really all she did was cut my hair to
about shoulder length and then said "I have noticed that everyone has
a good side to part their hair on. If you dont part it on that side
then it makes you look like a baby." So she does this long bang thing
and parts it to one side and said "No..I dont think this is your good
side." So she parts it to the other side and says "No..I dont think
its this side either." WTF?! So let me part it in the back of my head
and save everyone the horror of looking at me!

I wasnt even going for the long bang look thing. It was just one of
the THREE pictures I showed her for the cut I wanted. And my hair
doesnt look a THING like any of them. They all had volume and my hair
is flat on my head. I had to come home and wash my hair to get all the
product out of it that she put in it. The mousse and serum and who
knows what all else.

She also said that it should wash out some over the next two weeks and
then it should lighten up and I will probably like it a lot by then.
Now..usually when someone gets their hair cut or colored it isnt for
something two weeks in advance. And secondly, it isnt going to lighten
up anymore. Besides the fact that she washed it 100 times and stripped
it..when I washed it at home it didnt bleed or run at ALL! The last
time I colored my hair it bleed for WEEKS!

After 4 hours she starts telling me how difficult my hair is. Its now
my fault because my hair is thin, fine, and sucks up the color too
much! They were talking first about taking of 25% but by the time they
got done they told me it was on the house.

Thanks...

In light of the recent complaints against commentators I had joined in
a conversation on Venice's blog page to post my opinion about the
whole thing. She is insisting that I post it in my own blog so here it
is! LOL! I copy and pasted it since it is so long so if it makes
little sense keep in mind that it was originally written in response
to a post Venice had made in her blog. :)

Actually, I have been trying very hard now for awhile (before people
starting complaining and having their letters yanked) not to pick too
much on things like spelling and punctuation (unless it is just
really, really bad all the way around and obvious that the letter
will
not be taken seriously because of it) but when I do its usually
because I am trying to get it across to them that even though they
are
sending a letter over the internet it should still be professional.

And there is the REAL problem. The internet. It is FAR too easy to
just shoot off a letter written in the heat of the moment without
calming down and waiting a day or two. People just click and send and
dont give much thought to what they are saying or how they are
portraying themselves. Thanks to this website I am VERY conscience of
what I put in a letter now. And those are the letters that tend to
catch the most heat around here.

I am strongly opinionated I know. But I am also open minded and
usually read a letter at least twice before I comment on it. Thats
also why I often quote parts of their letters. Because I want them,
and whoever else might care, to know that I DID read their letter. I
dont just lurk the site to see who I can jump on. I often comment on
compliment letters and I often agree with letter writers on certain
complaints. Often I will tell them I do agree with them and they have
a valid complaint but that their letter was horribly written.
However,
very few people either read those letters or take note of it. I am
often the only person who comments on a lot of letters and those are
usually the ones who dont draw the kind of drama that certain ones
do.

I do NOT post comments telling people to get a life, that their
complaint was stupid, that they were wasting time. At least I havent
in a very, very long time. LOL! And I make a conscience effort not to
do that. And there have been times when I have come out against
people
for posting like that and then its turned back on me.

I practice what I preach in that if there is someone I dont normally
agree with or someone who just gets under my skin...I dont read their
posts. No sense upsetting myself and furthering a flame war. And if a
letter is getting nothing but immature responses I usually dont even
bother posting anything at that point. A lot of the letters that have
gotten TONS of responses to them lately I havent even bothered with.
Fact is, I dont have as much time for PFB as I used to. My work
schedule is insane and when I am not working I am sleeping or taking
care of my son. I sometimes go days without even getting online now.

What really gets me are those who accuse the commentators or
attacking
them when no one did. They just dont agree with the letter writer
(which is what happend with the letter you are referring to) and take
it personally. Its the internet! Why let it get to you so much? Why
take it personally? It basically doesnt matter what we say, does it?
We arent going to change anything since their letter has already been
sent. The commenting section of PFB is basically for us, not for the
original letter writer. Maybe they might get some tips for next time
but what we say wont do a thing about the letter they already sent.
So
basically its all a moot point anyway.

Anyway, there are a couple of people who post and I think "Was that
really necessary? Why say that? What was the point of that? Why be so
mean?" but since no one else seems to care then I guess I shouldnt
waste my time saying anything about it. They are allowed to continue
to say things like "Get a life" so I assume it must be allowed. And
so
will new commentators who come in, read the responses, see that and
assume that all the commentators are so immature. And its only going
to get worse and worse.

Anyway, I try really hard not to be critical just to be critical. But
again, I will almost always side with the employee or company simply
because I worked retail for 14 years and I know what its like being
on
the receiving end of nasty customers. God that just brought up a
memory. Probably the WORST customer I ever dealt with and she worked
for the same company I did..she just worked in the offices. She came
in very early before I was even scheduled to be there. Wanted a
classy
wrap. Those big balloons we used to make with things like flowers or
teddy bears in them. They take a lot of time to make and thats if the
balloon doesnt pop. This woman was "B" from the word go. She was
NASTY! I mean, just the most mean person I have ever met. Before it
was over she was talking about me to another employee and when I
tried
to stand up for myself she told me that I was to speak when she told
me to speak and I told her she could get her classy wrap made
somewhere else because I wasnt going to do it! She is lucky she was
trying to gag that damn balloon down her throat! LOL! I STILL get mad
when I think about what she did and it was about 11 years ago! Of
course, there was more to the story than I put here but you get the
idea. I have dealt with nasty customers but she was the QUEEN of
nasty. But I also know that customers like to put their own spin on
things to get their way. To get the store to ignore company poliy. To
cheat the store out of something. I cant tell you how many times I
have seen it. And just like I could tell a shoplifter the SECOND they
walked in the store...I can tell a phony story from the first word.

Anyway...just my thoughts. LOL!

That kids never need anything until the second you close and lock the
door on the bathroom?

It never fails. My son will be happily playing or watching a movie or
whatever...not a care in the world. But the second I have to use the
bathroom its like the world is coming to an end. He needs something to
drink, he needs food, he has problems with the computer, he needs to
use the bathroom (and refuses to use the other bathroom), it never
fails!

He could have just eaten dinner and will still tell me he is hungry.
If I try to take a shower he will walk in on me REPEATEDLY and then
thinks it funny to turn the light out on me. He is such a stinker!
LOL!

It drives me nuts. I hate locking him out but if I dont he will be
walking in on me every 5 seconds.

Just had to get that out. LOL!

Ok. So, I rarely go to Burger King. I just dont like the taste of
their food. But the other day my son wanted a kid's meal because of
the Superman toys. I dont usually get fast food because of toys but he
was excited about it so I figured why not. I had not dont it in
awhile.

So I went through the drive thru and ordered a kid's meal for him.
They told me the total and I paid, drove up and got his food. I was
around the builing when he told me he had not gotten a toy. So I
parked and went in and told them. The lady running the place said "Oh
yeah..he forgot. We are out of toys until Thursday." Now, I can tell
by the way she said it that he hadnt forgotten. Her speech was too
rehearsed. But, what could I do? He was hungry. So I took his food and
left.

A few days later I was on my way to work and decided to stop at
another location to try again. I was going to eat the food myself this
time since I work a 10 hour - over night shift and cant leave to get
food. I pulled up to the drive thru about 10 minutes till 10. I have
stopped at this location on my way to work at the same time a few
times in the past and there was never any problems. But this time the
guy comes on the speaker and tells me they just took their last order
for the night. I asked when did they start closing so early and he
said that his manager just told him to tell me that they were closed.
I informed them that I had gone through this place before at this time
and had never been turned away but that I would be sure to report this
incident.

What REALLY made me mad about the whole thing was that there was no
way out of the drive thru! So I had to wait while the "last order of
the night" got their food before I could drive on through. A female
employee made sure she waited until I was driving by before she closed
and locked the window in my face. By this point I didnt even have time
to go anywhere else.

As we all know...Burger King makes it next to impossible to contact
them. I am guessing because they have had more complaints than they
could handle. I had tried called that number on the receipt but that
is just to take a survey and to get a free whopper or something. I got
online and went to their website where I found a 1-800 number and a
snail mail address. I decided to send them a letter because I wanted
to make sure I got all my complaints out. I just sent it like two days
ago so of course there is no response yet.

However, to add insult to injury...my son asked to go to Burger King
again after his school orientation last night. Why I let him go I have
no idea. I should have made him go with his first choice of Wendy's.
But I took him and the sign was still up for the Superman toys so we
had a little hope this time. But not much.

Good thing too. When he got his meal there was some kind of "toy" that
was all papers and had to do with animals.

I guess those stupid Superman toys are really popular.

Anyway, now I wish I hadnt sent the letter so soon. I could have added
this issue to it as well.

I am DONE with Burger King thats for sure!!

I had a tooth pulled yesterday. I woke up Wednesday to pain but
nothing unusual. I am a tooth grinder and jaw clamper when I sleep.
But the pain didnt go away and only got worse. The roof of my mouth
started swelling and by the next morning the other side of my jaw was
hurting and the pain was going up into my cheek and around my eye and
down the side of my neck. So I found a dentist that takes emergencies
and begged them to take me. The pain was unbearable and I have a high
tolerance for pain. It wasnt responding to any pain meds either.

So they pulled the tooth. Thank GOD! But today I have been pretty much
out of it thanks to the pain meds and antibiotics. Dizzy, sick at my
stomach, just yucky.

The pain this afternoon was HORRIBLE! I think its due more to the
trauma and injections.

Anyway, I have to go because I feel like I am gonna be sick again.
Just felt like sharing. LOL!

by mary jo Posted Sat July 8, 2006 @ 12:47 PM

Life just sucks sometimes.

Starting tomorrow I am going to be all alone for almost a week. Thats
sad enough! LOL! But at least I have work and the animals.

But last night I just realized that my 9th wedding anniversary is this
coming Tuesday. Last year was wonderful! Life was great! We had gone
on what was supposed to be a romantic trip to Savannah Georgia. We
were staying in a very expensive hotel. He gave me a diamond eternity
ring. He got on his knees and apologized for the past and promised
that from now on he was going to do everything the right way. He had a
great job making good money. I was finally able to be what I had
always wanted to be. A stay at home mom.

Less than a year later he had found someone else (again) and we are
seperated and in the process of divorcing.

Dont get me wrong. I am not upset about this anymore. I was...for a
few days. Now thats its been 4 months I can see clearly now and I
realize that me and my son are so much better off now. Life is good
and happy and basically stress free. I miss him at times but I miss
who he used to be. Not who he became.

I hadnt even remembered the anniversary until last night and then I
started thinking about last year. Now that ring is put away, along
with my engagement and wedding ring...and his wedding ring that he
left on my key chain one day. I wear my mother's ring on my left ring
finger now. Thats the most important part of my life right now. Well,
it always has been for the last 7 years. Probably another "reason" to
add to the list.

Anyway, I just felt like venting about it I suppose. Instead of
planning anniversary celebrations I am waiting for a date for
mediation. Its mind blowing really if I sit and think about it too
long. Only a few weeks before he told me it was over he had been
planning a cruise for our 10th anniversary. I still dont know what
went so wrong so quickly.

Its weird starting over again at 30...with a 7 year old son to boot.
But I really feel like my life is finally starting! I have never, EVER
felt that way. I have hope and peace and joy that I havent had in many
years.

Of course, that doesnt always fill the lonely nights but I will
survive. I spent most of our marriage alone anyway so it isnt like I
am not used to it. I just figured that at this point we would have a
house, another kid, a savings account. Not getting divorced.

Funny how life can change. How our plans never materialize the way we
expected them too. I spent the last 9 years saying "One day...." and
one day never came.

But God works in mysterious ways and I know He has a plan for me and
my son. I am sure one day I will find love again and if not I will be
happy just being a mother.

Now...if I can just make it through the next week I will be ok....LOL!

So...I am a member of a certain group for people trying to lose
weight. One woman was writing about how she has this woman who comes
in and makes dresses for her. Not sure if that is because of her size
or because of her religion. She kept referring to "plain dress"
circles and all I did was ask what that meant. Next thing I know I am
getting bombarded with emails from this woman. Seems she is part of a
very strict religion that makes women dress in very plain dresses
only, no make up, jewelry and they have to cover their heads as well.

At one point someone in the group asked me what I thought about a very
popular female preacher and I posted what I felt about her. That she
is alright. I dont make it a habit of listening to preaching anymore
than I have to frankly. I grew up in church but I have completely
changed how I feel about religion in the last year. Actually, I
consider myself spiritual but NOT religious and refuse to join with
any religion.

My point to this woman was that most people want nothing to do with
religion and Christians because so many of them are angry,
judgemental, hypocritical and refuse to accept any other belief system
than their own. They are convinced that if someone doesnt believe the
exact same way they do that they are wrong and going to hell. Her
first email to me she said "Now before you respond to me in
anger..figure out who you are mad at.Me or God?" HUH?? I wasnt mad at
anyone and really I couldnt figure out why she had sent me this email
in the first place.

She didnt like my response of why I dont believe in religion. I dont
believe God meant for his people to be critical, judgemental, ect. I
dont see where they get off saying someone is going to hell because,
well, for example..they are gay. We dont get the right to make that
decision. And frankly, I know more gay people who are BETTER human
beings that a lot of christians I know! It amazes me what people do in
the name of God.

Well, she wrote me back and informed me that she isnt judgemental. Yet
in her VERY FIRST sentence she informed me that I am angry and full of
rebellion. LOL! I thanked her for proving my point.

I dont get the point of arguing religion. No one can PROVE anyone is
right or wrong. What you believe is what you believe and if someone
can change that simply by sending a threatening email then you werent
real strong in that belief to begin with. I believe in God and Jesus
and all that. But I dont believe that God created religion. I also
dont believe everything in the bible. I would like to. I really would.
But I cant get past the fact that a book that is over 2000 years old
and has been re-written SOOO many times...plus the fact that books
have been removed...is still what it was originally. I think that if
something from the bible speaks to you then great! But dont expect
everyone to get the same thing from it that you do.

I cant tell you how many times I have sat in church and read along
with the preacher some scripture. The preacher goes on to tell us what
the scripture is supposedly saying but I got something completely
different! And, in fact, if you go on and read before and after it, it
changed the meaning. I dont need someone to stand in front of me and
tell me what THEY THINK the bible is saying to me. I can read and I
can figure it out for myself.

Its amazing to me how many religions there are and how...at the basic
root of it...they all believe the same thing. But they add all these
different spins and rules and regulations and then they FIGHT about
it! Come on!!!

And the lack of respect that these "God fearing folks" have for people
who believe differently than they do is amazing. God is love! But if
you dont do what we say, believe how we do then you are full of sin
and going to hell! LOL!! That makes NO sense!

I cant do it anymore. I cant be part of something like this. I can
believe and love God and still be accepting of people who dont agree
with me. And it just makes no sense to me those who cant.

when I am accused of being hard and cold.

Let me just list here some of the things I have been through in my
life.

First off I was born with a "Giant hairy nevus" on my face, around my
right eye. It had to be removed because it was growing and would have
become cancerous. I had about 13 plastic surgeries and skin grafts to
have it removed.

I had a son who was born premature at 33 weeks. I had to be induced
due to severe pre-eclampsia and he was born weighing 3 and a half
pounds. He spent a month in the NICU.

I watched my grandmother, who I am named after, suffer through cancer
and was there to watch her take her last breaths when I was 17 years
old. She left me with her last wish which was something I was
completely unable to fullfill for her. I was also the last person she
spoke to at all.

I am recently going through a divorce and my life has been completely
turned upside down.

I have been made fun of, lied to, cheated on, abused, close to death,
more than once in my life. But I refuse to see it as an excuse to be a
bad person. I still try to look at the positive in life. I still try
to be a respectable member of the human race. I am, especially now,
trying to use all the bad in my life to positively change who I am and
make myself a better person.

This is just the highlights of a life that has included some HIGH -
highs and some LOW - lows. There have been other things but no reason
to list them all. I did, however, have a wonderful childhood
regardless of the constant visits to the doctor and the hospital. I
have an amazing family and child. I had the same job for 14 years,
took some time off, and now have a very interesting job where I am
actually helping people instead of catering to self centered customers
all day. I graduated from highschool but choose not to go to college
but instead to go to work full time. I am more the artistic person
than the scholar. I was a floral designer for 14 plus years.

So...thats just a little about the things in my life that have shaped
who I am. I dont consider what I have been through as an excuse for
anything I do or how I act. I am who I am. Like it or not! LOL!

Why do people fail to accept responsibility of their own actions?!

I dont understand it at all. There are too many people in this world
who think they should be allowed to act however they want to and not
have to pay the price for it. They make mistakes, cause trouble..and
its always someone else's fault.

Makes no sense to me.

Where are these people's parents? Why didnt they teach them better?
Where did it all begin?

Pointless questions I know.

I am just so sick, after having been very closely related to someone
who has NEVER paid for their own actions or mistakes, of people like
this. They can raise all kinds of hell but fully expect someone else
to get them out of it and blame everyone else around them for it.

Man..wish I had the conscience to do that. Would save me a lot of
grief! LOL!

"This year's first day of April was noticeably lacking in April Fool's
jokes as far as mention in the media was concerned. Perhaps this is
due to the fact that, with George Bush and Dick Cheney still at the
helm of the ship of state, there is no need to single out a particular
day for foolishness or nasty pranks in the United States: every day is
April Fool's day in this country for the time being."
