Ralph Lauren sweat suit

Write a Letter to this Company

I was at Macy's store in Robinson Twp., Pa. and found a Ralph Lauren sweat suit on a 50% sales rack with additional 50% discount. It was clearly marked on top of the rack. When I went to purchase the outfit, the sales clerk said the sign was wrong and she took it down. She was only willing to give me the original 50% off. I told her to keep it. I really think I should have gotten the article as marked!

I would like a gift card to make me want to go back to a Macy's store.

I can understand if the sweat suit was in the wrong place and was not
50% off but the sign still being up entitles you to the full discount.
The sales person should have taken the sign down and THEN given you
the full discount. That is false advertising and is illegal. If the
sign remains up even after the sale is over the customer is entitled
to the full discount because that is what is advertised on the rack.
I have had this situation happen in several instances and always the
sign was taken down but I was given the marked price to abide with the
law. Asking for a gift card is a little cheesy but I do agree Macys
needs to abide by the law and make sure all of last weeks sales signs
are taken down before the store opens unless they want to honor the
sign.

Not Necessarily by Harleycat Fri September 8, 2006 @ 2:13 PM

I used to work in Macy's. It was probably either of two things,
someone forgot to take the sign down when the sale was over or someone
put it back in the wrong place (most likely). When not ringing
customers, we spent the better part of our day putting merchandise
back in the right place.

Try to look at it this way. Someone comes in and picks up a brand new
designer outfit worth say $150. Sometime during the course of their
shopping, they decide they don't want it and put it on the $10
clearance rack. Should the next person who picks it up get it for
$10? No. If stores honored such requests, they would go out of
business. The only time we would do that is if an entire rack of the
same item still had the sale sign on it or rang up wrong. So it would
only be if an entire rack of Ralph Lauren sweatsuits had a sign for
50% off would we honor that customer and then remove the sign. We
could not honor it if it was picked up off the hodge podge of a
clearance rack.

*cough*gimmepig*cough*

Give me a break. Very often when I see 50% off signs and the price
marked is already 50% off, I presume someone already marked the
discount. I'm guessing that is what happened in your case.

Sounds like a case of the gimmegrabs to me.

I'm sure they won't miss your bargain hunting; you deserve nothing..

Sigh. I'm not in the mood for a greedy gimmegrab tonight. Another
shopper put that sweatsuit on the rack, or the people who do "sale
set" (I used to do it) missed one rack and forgot to take that sign
down.

Ralph Lauren clothing doesn't go on sale as much as other clothing,
and usually it goes for 25% off (when most other brands will be at
30%-40% off). To get something at 50% off, other than clearance, is a
HUGE sale on Ralph Lauren.

You should have bought the sweatsuit -- I really like the Ralph Lauren
brand and the few items I've bought still look new.

Wouldnt 50% off of 50% off be...free? ROFL!

Either way, someone probably put it in the wrong place. You said the
sign was on the rack..not marked on the clothing. So getting it for
what it was MARKED would have probably cost you the full price.

You dont deserve a gift card. You didnt lose anything and it cost you
nothing.

You could have bought it at 50% off but you choose not too. That isnt
Macy's problem.
