I want my money back

Posted Thu September 7, 2006 10:08 am, by AYANNA E. written to Chevrolet

Write a Letter to this Company

I, Nalo Ervin recently took my car to Curtis Chevrolet on Georgia Avenue to be serviced and have a alternator put on my car August 15, 2006). After I got my car back and came to work. I noticed something shiny coming from under my hood of my car and Low and behold the mechanic left his socket wrench under the hood of my car. I was totally pissed off and not to mention I started smelling a burning coming from my car. I thought that it was just the newness coming from the car being fixed and I called Mr. Guido and asked him about the burning sensation. He told me that I should not be smelling any burning and to bring the car back to them. I could not bring the car back to their dealership because I had taken enough time coming back and forth to their dealership to have my car fixed.

I called the manager Mr. Snyder and he was so nonchalant about the whole thing. He made me think that all his mechanics leave tools under the customers hood he was like oh well just keep it. No apologies just is that all.

I called him back on September 6, 2006 to let him know that I had taken my car to be sericed at another dealership and to come and find out that the mechanic left plastic under my hood and the dealership in virginia had to peal off the plastic burning around my exhaust system.

Mr. Snyder was so nasty with me on the phone telling me that it was my fault and that it was a plastic bag that flew under my car and that is not what the dealership said he said their was plastic around my exhaust system it was no fault of mine but neglicene on their part

I want my money back for the incompetence of both the mechanic and the supervisor. I would like 379.41 that was charged me for putting the alternator on and I also would like 500.00 for endangering my life and smelling those damn fumes.

Lo (not "low") and behold - another illogical gimme grab.

$500 - from where did you pull that figure?

Oh... never mind; I can figure it out.

"I could not bring the car back to their dealership because I had
taken enough time coming back and forth to their dealership to have my
car fixed"

Uh... change that to "I WOULD not". You could have; you chose not to.

I'm calling shenanigans here. One mechanic left a socket wrench under
your hood (how would you not have noticed that when you picked the car
up?); and yet another at a different dealer left plastic?

Bullpiles on a rainy field. Methinks you're an opportunist looking to
turn something inconvenient into something lucrative.

Ohh i'd see a doctor about that burning sensation... could be a
symptom of something serious... of course i'm not being serious. From
what i can tell (and not knowing the model year of the car) from the
letter, you're expecting 379.41 plus 500.00 because some plastic bag
you drove over stuck to the hot bits of your cars underside...causing
a burning sensation and fumes? And you got a complementary socket
wrench alreday? I'd take away about 800 bucks and some change from
your expectations then subtract 79.00 for asking for your money back
when you got your car fixed and didn't check the work before leaving.

Nice try though.

Um, the exhaust system isn't under the hood -- it's under your car, as
in muffler and tailpipe. Sounds to mas like you DID drive over a
plastic shopping bag.

You need to get over this. I don't think they owe you anything at
all. You should apologize to THEM for being such a rude customer
making demands about things when you don't seem to know even the first
thing about auto mechanics.

Chevrolet, the ones who made your car, have no control over the work
done by the dealership, which is an independent business, not owned by
Chevrolet.

If you want Curtis Chevrolet to pay for the correction at another
dealership, you have to take that up with them.

If you look at the check or credit card receipt, I can guarantee you
it doesn't say "pay to the order of "Chevrolet".' The dealer
collected the money, they would have to cover the repair.

Good luck on the $500. I'd love to know how you came to value
'endangering' your life at $500.

Hahahahahahahaha! You want $500.00 for endangering your life! People
who take the time and money to go to court wouldn't get $500.00 for
that!

Plus I don't actually see anything in your letter indicating that your
life was in danger. Not that it couldn't have been as I'm not a car
mechanic and I have no idea what could happen from leaving plastic
around the exhaust. I'm simply pointing out that you didn't feel that
"life endangerment" was important enough to point out specific
instances just important enough to ask for...::laughs::...$500.00.
