Not sure if anything CAN even be done... but the Top letters juble together to me when I am trying to see if there is anything new in it. Maybe the titles are too long. I don't know what it is, but just a tiny pet peeve

It seems like every day, around 6:30 am or so, my time (GMT -5) I suddenly can't access the site anymore.
Is this a daily maintenance thing, or is the site just exceptionally busy at that time?
Just curious.

I liked the original setup of Planet Feedback because it was easier to write the letters and fix any mistakes made. With the new way you have Planet Feedback setup, I hav very difficult time finding what I need. This morning I wrote a letter and a mistake happened I think and I had to email a letter to you guys to see if the mistake I had made was actually made and to ask you to fix it for me if it was made. The old Planet Feedback was easier for me because I could just hit back and it would take me back to the previous page and I could fix my own mistake. I really like your website and I hav used it a few times and got results. I just think the new Planet Feedback is not client friendly. Thanks guys for being here for us.

Thank you for dealing with the "Leaky Tampon" letter. While I believe the letter writer was attempting to make fun of the "Happy Period" letter and not at all serious, the replies full of name calling and insults were absolutely out of line and totally uncalled for. Thank you for taking care of it so quickly.

To get a "draft" mode? I don't know if it is something that could be saved under our profiles, but I know it would seriously help me when I start a letter and can't finish it until later.
Figured so long as you're making all these changes, I might as well "strike while the iron is hot!"

As has been said numerous times, this is in fact a privately owned site. The owners and administrators of this site can do pretty much whatever they darned well please, and if we the members of the site don't like it, we can, as has also been said numerous times, leave. I understand that, and I also understand that sometimes we as members don't need to know what the owners and administrators of the site are doing.
But.
This is not the "Demands Box," or the "Vague Idle Threats Box." It is the "Suggestion Box." That means that the content posted here by members of the site is in fact a series of suggestions, and ought to be taken as such. If feedback is not desired by the administrators of the site, just take down the Suggestion Box. If members' opinions are disagreed with, just say so, in an explanatory and non-combative manner.
In the spirit in which I believe the Suggestion Box was begun, I have some suggestions.
1. I suggest that an experiment on the effect of moderators in our community must take longer than a week to be valid. In other words, the perceived "failure" of the moderator system was a conclusion drawn prematurely, without adequate data. I'm not saying moderators are or are not the way to go. I'm not saying that the mods selected weren't doing a good job (for the record I think they were). I'm saying that naming some mods based on the results of a non-scientific poll of users, giving some vague direction, and then yanking them before they had a chance to figure out which way was up is not a basis to conclude that the idea of moderators will not work.
2. I suggest that large changes which will affect member's experience of the site be announced. If you are looking at different styles of ads, let us know. This will save you all the outcry when you hit on one we don't like. We will know we are part of an experiment, and I guarantee we will react accordingly. As it is, I feel like you are underestimating our ability to help you make the site better. It seems that there once was a thread in existence which would have been a great place to let us know what was going on, but it too seems to have been dismantled with no explanation. I'm not asking for an exhaustive weekly report on the site's progress here, just a quick, "Hi guys, here's what's happening and why, and here's what you can do to help."
3. I suggest that a system be put in place to effectively remove posts which violate the TOS. Recently there has been a rash of such posts, and many attempts to report them have fallen on deaf ears. I understand that it is not feasible for two people to police an entire site at once, but I also understand that a new user (a group which it seems the PFB admin is eager to court) coming to the site for the first time will not be back if they open up a thread or letter filled with ethnic slurs or offensive language. At least, if they do come back, it will not be for the right reasons. The longer an offensive post stays up, the longer PFB advertises itself as a site for trolls to have flame wars unchecked.
Again, these are suggestions. They are not orders, they are not demands, and they are certainly not threats. This site is about giving a voice to the voiceless. I am sure that the PFB administration understands that having a voice is quite different from having that voice heard. I hope I'm not using mine in an empty room here.

I was just reading over the Suggestion Box, and it made me realize that I've been making a lot of requests lately, but there have been so many changes, and I don't adapt well.
At the risk of being shown the door, I would still like to say two more things, which I promise never to mention again.
We really need a delete/ignore button in the profiles.
Please reconsider the ads in between the comments. Placing them on the top, bottom and sides of the page is great, but in between the replies is making me crazy.
Thanks for listening.

This floating ad over to the side is like the creeping crud - am I allowed to say that? - or even worse, kudzu.
It kinda unnerves me, the way it 'travels' up and down the screen, like it's chasing me or something.
Is anyone even listening to us? We've noticed the changes in the profiles and Top 20 (25) but some of the more serious complaints - the ads, the vulgar posts, the silence from Greg and the rest of the PFB staff beyond one liners - aren't getting such quick action. What's going on, folks?

Shoving ads into all the letters was bad enough, but this long strip of adds that follows you as you scroll up and down the page is too much. What are you people thinking?? Enough already! Please get rid of that floating strip of ads ASAP! It is incredibly annoying. If the PF owners can't pay for the site themselves any longer, then start offering a premium fee based membership This ad barrage is TOO much! Who's ever in charge of the ads here either has no idea what he's doing or doesn't care.

No??

Okay, that's it. I am officially requesting the Top 10 Profiles be expanded to 20. Every time someone starts a new blog, I get pushed further down the list.
Gee, I never realized I was so competitive... hahaha!

I just got done composing lengthy letter of complaint to Hewlett Packard and when I clicked on the "next" button, it had all disappeared! There was no form, letter, emotions, or anything to suggest I'd made an attempt to make the wrongs done to me, right again! What did you do with my letter??? I don't want to have to type it all in again. Why is it all gone?

Yet another comment that has been allowed to overstay it's welcome.
Where is everyone? ANYONE with the power to pull these posts? In my opinion posts like this degrade the entire site. These are not regulars posting these atrocious remarks. They are people coming here, being disgusting and going away. This really needs to be handled immediately.

I'm very concerned that in Greg's absence other members of the administration aren't stepping up to remove a very offensive racial slur.
I know that e-mails have been sent out about it. A racial slur is an outright violation of the TOS. This is not a gray area in any form. "Review" should not be necessary. Immediate removal is the only action that should be taken.
This post is a call for someone to step up and handle business.

One more plea... reconsider the placement of advertisements in between the comments. They completely interrupt my train of thought, and I assure you I will never purposely click on any of them. Also, the double lines that sometimes appear when there is no advertisement, create a distraction and cause confusion.
Please rethink this decision, as I cannot imagine anyone enjoying the disruption in the flow of comments caused by the advertisements.
Thank you.

I'd like to add my request for an ignore button or at least a way to limit who can and cannot post messages to your blog. As I am currently dealing with a situation in which I am not comfortable with a certain persons constant posting on my blog, his repeated refusal to leave me alone and his threats to continue to harrass me, I would love to see a way to keep abusers out of the blogs that they abuse.

It's nice that you can click on a writers name and visit their profile, if they have one available.
I was thinking today that it would be equally as nice to be able to click the "Company" name at the top of the letter that it's written to and visit all the letters to that company??
On that same note, I am not sure if this is on the "To Do" list, but the search function still does not work correctly most of the time. Or possibly I am using it wrong? I usually use the search option personally to look for companies. So for me, it would be nice to have the option of searching for company names such that if I typed in "General Motors", it would bring up GM with a link to all of it's letters. Maybe this is not possible here with the current database. However, if I currently type in "General Motors" to the search entry area, I get all sorts of things with the word General or Motor in it. This includes General Electric, etc.
Just some thoughts, both along the same lines.

I was wondering if there was any way to delete old blog posts. For those of us on dial up (me and Venice that I know) it takes forever to get into our own blogs.
Maybe a delete comment button would be a good idea so we could get rid of all the superfulous comments.
Or maybe the posts could expire after a certain amount of time. I know I dont go into too many blogs myself because it just takes too much time.

I had a comment posted here about Christian bashing. I'd found a reply to a letter that said some very nasty things about Christians, and reposted it here to ask if it was the kind of thing that should be reported. I asked for opinions and Mr. Helpful's thoughts. It was deleted without a single word of explaination to me. I find that extremely rude. I am all for the removal of any posts the PFB staff deems inappropriate, but they need to have the common courtesy to notify/explain why. How are people ever going to learn from their mistakes if the staff refuses to tell them what they did wrong? I would like to know why my comment was deleted. Thanks and happy holidays.

I'm guessing this site could be flooded next week with complaint letters. I'd just like to say, "Good luck" to all the people who post here. I think we'll have some challenging posts. It could get ugly, but it also could be quite entertaining. Especially if Phyllis, Dora, Dickie, et al. celebrate Christmas. ;)
So hang in there, take a breather if you find yourself getting to bent out of joint over an overly demanding complaint letter, and if you have to vent, just post something in Venice's PFB blog. I'm sure she'd love to hear from you.

This is not an actual suggestion, but I have to point something out here.
I tend to be a bit of a scrooge. Maybe it has something to do with having a birthday at Christmas, I don't know. It's a big hassle and now that my kids are older, the fun is pretty much gone.
But,I digress.
I always look forward to Christmas being over with. However, one of the reasons that I'm looking forward to it *this year* is because finally, FINALLY this incessant debate about the X in Christmas will be
OVER!!!!
Can I get an alleluia, anyone?
Please, PLEASE can we just let it drop?
For the love of God, and I know I speak for a few others here, I don't CARE who said what to whom and when. It's OVER. In the spirit of the holidays, can we please just let it go???
Pretty please? :)
I find myself in the throes of a nervous tick every time I see the word X-mas now, regardless of where I see it.
Have mercy!

Just what is going on? I have reported several replies to letters that were crude and full of profanity, including "Amos"s repetitive profanity laced garbage on the Target/Litterbox letter, as well as Tina's constant Christian bashing, and have been COMPLETELY IGNORED and the profanity laden replies allowed to remain. Give me a break....why are we encourage to report such things if nothing is going to be done? A brief acknowledgement would be the polite thing to do. Has this site just become rules free? If so, please let us know. Thank you.

I think there should be some way to leave messages that are not specific to a certain company (as in pertain to multiple companies, a certain type of company, or some group that is not technically a company). If there already is a way to do this, then it should be more apparent since I was unable to find it. Also a section for suggestions to consumers would be useful. For example, a useful information to consumers that applies to multiple companies is the difference between gb(gigabytes) and gb(giga bytes), since their abbreviations are identical. Due to a few loopholes, my 250gb hard drive came with about 210 gb free space. Since a giga byte is 1000^3 bytes and a gigabyte (as measured by the computer) is 1024^3 bytes, there is a difference of 73741824 bytes for every gb. That's why my 250 gb hard drive came with 250 gb * 0.93 gb/gb = 232.5gb - 8.5 gb backup drive = 224gb - 14 gb operating software = 210gb of usable space. I don't know what everyone else thinks, but I think 40 gb is a huge difference and something of which consumers should be aware.

So... wandering through the site I realized that nicknames only change for future posts and not past posts however the avatar changes everywhere. Is there anyway that nicknames can change all across the board as well?
I think this will especially help keep track of who we are commenting to when posters opt out of sharing their profiles. Therefore I feel it will cut back on the "Please share your profile" pleas that some of us regulars have been chanting lately.

By that I mean using X's to spell certain words. This time of year they are mentioned often here, and using "XMas" instead of Christmas, or "Xtian" instead of Christmas is extremely offensive. There is one member here who gets very nasty when asked not to write them, claiming we are wrong to be offended. Sorry, but I was raised Catholic and the church taught that you always always spell out the word Christ, period. You may insist it's proper, but to a great many of us, it's very offensive.

Hey, I want to know how to get a picture by your name. I see one person with an eagle, one with finding Nemo.... How do I get my picture? And can you list things I can and can't have on my picture? And preview it so I can change it if looks bad before I appily it. And when I have a picture, I want to be able to change it anytime. I just hope this isn't too much to ask.

I think it would be great to have a glossary or information page, or something that explains to consumers what the terms they are throwing around really mean.
"Bait and switch", for example, is one of the most wrongly used, and overused expressions on this site.
Perhaps if consumers actually knew what it meant, they wouldn't look so silly accusing business of it over something as simple as not price matching, or running out of a limited quantity sale item.

Perhaps this suggestion has been mentioned before and if so, I apologize:
I feel that PFB should consider investing in the technology required that would allow a user to block another user completely. To me, this would be a 'win-win' situation.
Here's an example:
Hypothetically (yeah right), lets assume there are a couple of users who I have no respect for. Their comments grate on my last nerve, and I'd rather not have anything to do with them. Instead of finding myself consistenly irked (regardless of reason) or tempted to lash out at them, I could instead click the 'ignore' feature that would, for all intents and purposes, remove them from my view forever, if I so chose.
The benefit to the user (me, in this example) is obvious. What might not be quite as obvious here is the added benefit to PFB as a whole. Having the ignore feature would, by default, cut down on the emails that PFB Administration would receive, complaining about other users. Also, it might cut down on the snarky remarks, of which MOST of us are guilty of at one time or another.
I'm not saying it would be perfect, but it's something that should be explored, in my opinion.
Just my .02 cents.

That would allow us to fix errors before we post them.
I'm not really adept at HTML and would LOVE to be able to preview posts and figure out how to add working links instead of junk that people have to copy and paste into their browser address bar.

I have noticed that most of the responses to poster's letters is "humorous" insults directed at the posters.
I think there should be some way for the administrators to encourage only constructive criticism of poster's letters.
Now, it's a two way street- some poeple post awful letters just to provoke flame wars. Maybe some people will need to have their posting privleges revoked.
But the biggest problem does lie with the responses to these letters. There seems to be one accepted group opinion- and if you don't share it, you will have your opinion belittled and insulted.
I mean, I haven't said anything controversial at all (just stuck up for a few people's rights to say less than popular things), and I've already had posters suggest nicknames for me, etc.
So, maybe moderation is necessary. Maybe memberships need revoking. Maybe some people just need reminders that CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is appreciated. And maybe some people need to post a bit less often. I mean, some folks have an opinion logged on just about evey letter- honestly, people don't care to know whether every single member of tis website stands with or against them on their letter. If you have something to add, post. If you just want to say "I agree" or insult the poster, than keep quiet.
That's my 2 cents. Probably worth about what you paid for it;-)

I haven't read much of the PFB 'stuff' lately because so many people are just writing letters and complaining about so many petty things. I got the E-mail tonight and started reading some of it and it goes on and on and on - complaint after complaint. I did, a while back, send a letter to WalMart and then got a response from them - a vague one. But I never really got any positive information or a final respopnse so I don't see where using Plant Feedback did much goodother than let WalMart know that my complaint was being posted on a wide open webpage where lots of people would see it. I guess I'm appreciative that you are 'out there' because it seems to be a place where lots of complaining people can let off steam. Maybe, it that is all you do, it's enough. Happy Thanksgiving . . .

Hey, I love PFB and appreciate having it available as a tool. I have gotten responses from companies as a result of posting on this site. I just wondered if anybody else has had a problem - or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I just spent about 45 minutes writing a letter - getting all of the dates and times correct, checking my spelling and grammar, etc - and then when I went to the next page, it was gone! Gaaahhhh!! Where did it go?

Kissing at the Red Robin (an obvious bogus letter) was posted on Sunday morning. Within several hours it hit number one on the Top 20 list. This is idiocy at its finest.
Venice made this comment on her blogger.
"I'm beginning to think the Top 20 list is the root of all evil. People will write anything just in the hopes of getting their letter on the list. The Top 20 was my favorite part of the new site, but a lot of the letters that end up there are just attention getters."
This is a great comment and 100% true. With the Top 20 list you get people writing in with nane "letters" just to get comments and to see how far up the list they can get with their absurity. Commenters then can't help themselves and make comments that border on and sometimes breaking TOS rules. It's almost like a domino effect.
What is very sad is that writers of decent letters seem to get "heat" from commenters that are in no way deserved. If they use one wrong term they "get hit" with rudeness.
I (the Prisoner) am actually a reincarnation of a former member. Because of the vast increase of inane letters and then the creation of moderators to protect the letter writers of "inane letters" I "cancelled" my account as a show of protest. Oh, I'm still very much here -- just under a
different name (but I don't have multiple accounts).
My advice -- get rid of the list. Like Venice said it's the "root of all evil".

I've been gone for a little bit and the first three letters I read left me a bit disappointed. The "Walmart Gave My Car Away..." and "I Wanted to Buy Boots But Walmart wouldn't Let Me" letters are full of what I consider pretty rude responses, and the "Kissing At Chili's" responses have some pretty colorful profanity in them. Very disappointing. We say we don't need/want moderation, but we can't seem to act that way.

I have no problem with the majority of the mods at all. However I will say that I think Beth was a very poor choice of admin. She has a serious attitude problem. Many of her posts are snotty, condescending and just plain rude. They have a "i am the great and powerful admin" tone to them. Look at the infamous rape letter for example. I think she's on some kind of power trip to be honest. And Mr. Helpful, while I like you, I think you need a minor adjustment or two as well. It's completely inappropriate for the admins of this site to post in a sarcastic, nasty manner as I have seen you do many times. Yes, you're human, and no no one expects you guys to be robots, but as the powers that be around here, you should be more professional.
I'm sure I'll be banned now, and I'll accept that. Beth's posts on the rape letter really upset me and Mr. Helpful's rude and sarcastic remarks about Chris and Starlight did as well, and I need to say something.

I decided to sign up here so I could put in my opinion whenever I wanted to comment, so I clicked on "register." Much to my surprise and annoyance, there was no "Outside US" option for signing up. It may come as a surprise for a lot of Americans, but there is a whole world outside America.
I happen to be English, and in order to register, I had to say I was from America. I don't expect every single country in the world to be listed, but an "Outside US" option would do nicely.

Somebody messed up when they did the "Consumer Alert Check Your Meds" posting. The huge "WARNING" graphic pushes the rest of the text on the page out of the frame, making all of it impossible to read because it's cut off where it was pushed out. The huge "WARNING" graphic needs to be resized I think.

No offense at all to the chosen PFB moderators, but is this what PFB has become? While I did not read the entire thread word for word, I did not find some overwhelming call for moderators, as Greg has suggested in the announcement of it.
It's obviously your site and your call PFB. As a feedback site, I felt the need to provide my feedback on your site. So, if I were to be writing a real letter, I would have marked that I had been satisfied with the services of this site in the past, but that I am now no longer satisfied.
Again, this has nothing at all to do with those who are moderators, as I have (and had) nothing but respect for them before anyways. I just already feel like a child reading the first main thread to "have the clamps put down" since this new PFB has been brought about.
That said, I like the old PFB better. My opinion only and I expect nor pretend to demand any changes because of such an opinion. Just putting it out there. I have already stopped coming here every few hours, and now go easily over a day or two without a visit. I figure that this will stretch to weeks and months the more I feel like a child.

I thought this might be interesting to watch on 20/20 tonight. John Stossel will be presenting the following story:
"My report covers one more reason why we don't need the government to regulate the marketplace. Thanks to the Internet, consumers now have new ways to talk back to big companies. Anyone can publicize bad service by airing snarky videos at sites like YouTube.com or Consumerist.com. It's consumer revenge! I'll show you some of the funniest examples."

I'd like to see the old format of planetfeedback when they helped you craft your letters. I think that made much more of an impact on the companies. Hopefully, you bring that feature back.

Is when a letter and all the commments get yanked... is there some way to remove the references on everyone's "my blog" list? Is there someway to connect them so when it gets removed, it's gone from everywhere?

It would be kind of cool if when a large issue, like say Walmart and
layaway, arises, there could be a standard "protest letter".
That way, the consumer could be heard and counted by the retailer,in
a coherant way.And we could have just one letter to debate the merits,
or lack thereof, of layaway.

Um...this is probably a stupid question but..where is this page?! LOL!
When I click on Suggestion Box it takes me to the old page that takes forever to load. I had to go to my profile and click on all my comments and then click on one I had made in this thread to find it.
Am I nuts? LOL!

What if we gave people the option of submitting a "draft" letter for feedback? People who respond would need to be made aware that they are to provide constructive criticism.
The OP could be told that the draft would be deleted automatically after, say, seven days, if it wasn't edited/updated and finished/sent on to the company/recipient.
Maybe someone would truly appreciate comments such as "You need to run spell check," or "you have a valid complaint, but you shouldn't muddy it with the reference to XYZ."
Just a thought. Thanks.

This isn't a complaint or a suggestion. Just thought you guys would get a kick out of this.
If you noticed the sudden influx of complaints to Wal-Mart about the layaway program being discontinued, it's because WOAI News in San Antonio did a story about it last night and listed PlanetFeedback as the place to go to complain to Wal-Mart. Here's the link to the online transcript so you can see for yourself.

Kinda cool, huh?

1. How about cutting the suggestion box page off at a certain MB level rather than by date, so that it won't take forever to load like the old page? The one dated 2005 freezes my computer.
2. Fix the compatibility issues. I just went off site to a library, and wrote a letter while I was there. Now I'm home and can't read my own letter. Is there any way to just view text on the site? This is the only site where I have a problem viewing anything, or at least the only one I've found.
And yes, I am going to keep complaining about it until you fix it. I'm not the only one - just the one with the biggest mouth.
3. When I tried to write the above letter, the site refused to admit Coca Cola and Coca-Cola are the same company. The old site didn't have this problem; why is the new one brain damaged?

Could you redirect all of the Suggestion Box links to the updated page? Is that possible?

If I'm addicted, what does that make me? ;)
I just discovered the suggestion box tonight. Where have you folks been hiding?
Mr. Helpful, I posted something in my PFB blog tonight that I'd like you to read and comment on, if you don't mind. Thanks much for your time.
More later (of course).

Never let it be said we dont listen to our users.
Behold the next iteration of The Suggestion Box.
And, if you get a hankering to view the old Suggestion Box archive, simply click on the link at the bottom of the greeting and you'll be in archive heaven.
