PFB C-pinion: I've Got Great News

I switched to Geico recently. I'd been with Progressive Insurance for the previous eight years with no accidents at all and no tickets for the past seven years. Yet my insurance rate kept going up...not a lot, twenty or thirty bucks every six months but it got to be really annoying. The way I saw it, my length of time with Progressive coupled with my excellent driving record should have translated into lower rates, not higher ones. At one point, I called Progressive to ask why this was going on and the response was that rates for all Progressive drivers in the Seattle area were going up.
Ok. Fair enough. It was at this point, I exercised my right as a consumer to choose and I chose Geico. Their rate quote was a third of what I've been paying on a six month basis. Their sign up process was relatively painless. I received the follow up packet containing my ID cards within a week of doing the deal. Earlier today, I received a phone call to thank me for my business and make sure I got my packet.
I have no intention of ever having to find out if Geico's claim service is as good as their signup process. Still, they've started me off so well that I'm confident I made the right choice.

I'll be calling Geico right away!! I use Progressive, and I have also been getting pretty irritated!
I switched from a red, 2 door sports car in crappy condition to a blue, 2 door car in great condition with automatic seat belts, air bags, and other safety features, quit smoking and got married. The price went up! So then I bought my new car, a 4 door with very low mileage, safety features, excellent condition, inexpensive parts, I turned 25, and now my record is completely clean. My prices went up again!! I pay almost $100/month for insurance!
I've had them for years. I had one accident where a Progressive Respresentative even said it sounded like fraud. The men in the parking lot sped up, had no lights on, hit the back of my car while I was backing out (in a huge lot with plenty of driving room, and no reason to be so close to my car) and then tried to get me to get in the car with them and go to an ATM to withdraw money for them. Also, they requested I not call the police, and the location we were at made me afraid to walk to the phone and do so anyway, as they would have stopped me I was afraid!
Anyway, after claiming that it sounded like fraud, Progressive proceeded to pay out a large amount of money for neck injuries and what not. Like I said, it was in a parking lot!!!

Sad to say, I know from a few experiences. Everyone in NY LOVES when they find out I have Geico...they are so easy to work with, pay quickly, etc. for everyone involved.
Glad you found them!

And I've had a few major minor accidents.
Not even a rate increase for one of them and they paid out for my damages...about $2500...
I really am happy with them. I wonder what else happened that made them decide to drop your client.

This is an excellent letter and some great advice. I was in the market for insurance after getting new wheels.... and being a creature of habit... I stayed loyal to Nationwide for way way too long... I too was shocked at the difference...and I live in a State with almost the highest rates in the country (Pennsylvania). They really do have excellent csr's. But what really sealed the deal was Warren Buffet owns Geico and I like the philanthropic work he's been doing with the Bill Gate's (love him or hate him) Foundation. It's an added bonus knowing some of your money might possibly help the less fortunate.
