Lowe's doesnt offer discounts on a regular basis. There are certain times of the year that a military discount is offered but only at times like July 4th and Memorial Day. If you are getting a discount at your home store then they are doing it as a courtesy to you. This is not a corporate wide discount, this is a store level discont. We have an AFB here and we dont offer every day military discounts. Feel privelaged that you are getting a discount when you are. Lowe's offers every day low prices and will price match competitors prices. Because of this, they do not offer special discounts.

I smell BS. Who travels and goes to Lowes? Were they running some super promotion in Florida where you needed to buy that chipper/shredder or 2x4's that you couldn't wait to buy 1000 miles away in NY?

Let's try this again...
While travelling in Florida, I discovered that the discount I get back home is not honored at all locations. I do realize that the Fort Drum location probably offers the discount because of the nearby military base. However, there are lots of retired veterans who no longer live near a base. I think it would be a great move if you offered this discount at all of your locations. I'm sure it would encourage lots of vets to chose you over Home Depot or other home improvement stores. In turn, they would tell their friends and family about your great service, and increase your business nationwide.
Because I have always recieved great service, and because I do most of my shopping at home, I will continue to frequent Lowes for my home improvement needs. But I do hope that you take my suggestion into consideration.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel P.

Here's a suggestion for a better letter:
Dear Lowes:
I routinely shop at my local Lowe's and am allowed a retired military discount on purchases. I live in Jefferson County NY, near Fort Drum.

You say "store discounts not offered fairly" and then you're more than happy to accept a discount that's not offered to everyone.
I don't mean to put down your service to this country. It's a noble thing to do.
However, so are several other professions that do NOT receive discounts. What about police offers? Teachers?
What about the cab driver that brings me home to see my kids? The auto mechanic who makes sure my car is safe? The health inspector who makes sure that the restaurant I'm eating at is safe?
What about the actor that makes me forget my cares, even for just a hour? What about the guy who picks up trash in the park? The programmers that build Planet Feedback so that you could write your letter?
You see, your local Lowes is giving an unfair discount to certain people. They give it to people who were, at one point in their lives, in the military.
Why is that fair?
