I also have had my account suspended twice in 7 days with no explanation as to why. I even bought gems and now can't use them. I didn't cuss, I don't cheat or use bots, the first time I turned off my pop-up blocker, the second I bought gems so I have no idea what glitch they have in the system, but I am NOT paying my hard earned money to a company that is too big to really take care of their paying customers. I don't need badges, even though they were fun to get, I don't need a mini either. And obviously they don't need my money, so I'm going to Slingo instead. I've emailed them both times, the first they reinstated me in 24 hours, this time NO answer back at all. Well this CUSTOMER is not coming back.

my screen name is Kayluh17 and i was temporarily barred or whatever because i said i didn't think our soldiers should be in Iraq they are killing innocent children and this lady thought i was insulting them and so i told her i wasn't they are heroes...blah blah blah then she went on about stupid stuff like how i should have another kid to get a stimulus check from Obama and atleast her kids weren't parents at 17, pretty much calling me a whore. so of course i got mad and said some vulgar things & i reported her as well and she is still able to play on pogo yet I am not!!??!! How they heck does that work?

This comment is a suggestion for all who think they have been treated unfairly by pogo or any other website that bans you, suspends your account, and punishes you in any other way without giving you a logical reason. My suggestion is: that you all band together and file an appeal. If that does not work, than your last resort would be to sue the companies that have mistreated you. You can sue the websites for as much money as you want.

I'm glad some of you dinner winners were banned from Pogo.
Gauging by your messages and replies, you don't even deserve to be on the 'net!
Pogo does NOT suspend accounts lightly. Why bite the hand that feeds them? Pogo relies on repeat subscribers.
If any one was banned, your not telling the whole truth, Pogo checked the logs and found you in violation of their TOS, period.
So quit the bellyaching and grow up!

ok here is how unfair pogo really is. I am not a child nor do I curse in the game rooms sometimes it gets so steamy i leave. I created a pogo account about 7 years ago when austin powers was hot I used my aol screen name which was at the time onesxybch38 i joined club pogo 3 years ago and no its not my life, but it is my entertainment, which i may say costs me every year. I go on weekly faithfully and work on my badges I have finished some of the games. and got rank badges. Well the other day I went to sign on and it simply wouldnt let me I had to search and search to find a way to contact pogo and you can only do so with an email. which with all the money they make is redicioulus. I finally get a reply days later saying that my screenname was offensive so they suspended me and oh i loose all but 10 of my badges after 3 years and all my ranks and friends list and such this almost brought me to tears 3 years of working on all this and this is what i get i didnt do anything wrong. and they didnt even contact just wipe me out so unfair looking into better business bureau i just want all my money back and never will go back there

Well I just got "barred" from pogo last night. What happened was, I was bowling on pogo and happened to look at the chat screen and seen someone said something like "everyone in here are tater nuts." Slightly amused and unclear on what a tater nut was I asked.."What are tater nuts? Are they anything like tater tots? Then he said "look between your legs." Slightly irritated and never one to take a whole lot of crap from anyone replied,"The only thing I see between my legs is the top of your mothers head". Now I thought it was funny, hes the one who wanted to get racy when he referred to my genital area, so I hit him with that one. Well then he comes back with something to the effect of his mother just passing away two weeks ago, wich from personal experience I learned thats the first thing someone says after being torched by a good mother joke.Even so I simply relied "I apologize" because I did actually lose my mother a few years back and not knowing for sure he was lying I apologized and did really mean it. A few other things were said, including him calling me a dumb dumb. Than I think i said poopie head. Funny right? Juvenile? This whole little scenerio went down without one swear word being used. Less than an hour later I'm "barred" from pogo. Well there was a time when I used to go on to pogo and just start messin with people just get them mad and I would use all kinds of profanity. I got a kick out of it, but it got old. But I have no problem engaging in a little personal conflict or a battle of wits of sorts. But you cant get into something with someone and have thin skin. I know the mother joke was a cheap shot and always an easy one, but I thought it was good. Yeah well, what goes around comes around and I guess I got mine. Does anyone know how long they ban you?

ROFL!!! I know I shouldnt continue to keep this in the top 20 but I have to point something out.
I just read further down where our little perpetual victim...I mean...Marcy said she had been banned from Pogo AND Customers Suck. I find that amazing since it would take a MAJOR MAJOR no no to get booted from Customers Suck. I used to be a member there awhile ago and it isnt a G rated website to say the least. If she got kicked from there that says a LOT about her. More than anything else she has posted about on here. And I am sure it goes without saying that what it says about her...isnt good.
Sorry...just felt the need to point that out.

My original post caused a lot of people to tell me in great detail how wrong my priorities were. I don't feel it's ok to decide what another persons priorities should be judging by your own standards.
People have ZERO idea what another persons life is like or what they've been through. None of you have any idea in the first place why it was so important for me to spend so much time on pogo, therefore it was easy for all of you to beat me up for making pogo such a high "priority" in my life.
Well, I won't go into my personal reasons as they are my business only, suffice it to say that the last two years of my life have been extremely hard. I've seen the worst humanity had to offer and I wish I could say that the comments here have made me realize there are good kind people in the world. But I can't. In fact, the majority of comments have only reinforced in me why I dislike most people so much and prefer animals to human beings.
You all have your own opinions about my OP and things I've said since then. There's really not a lot to argue with anymore. My opinions and feelings haven't changed and I know that yours won't either. We both know how each other feels and neither is going to change the other.
So it's done. and YES, if the attacks against me keep up it will be very hard not to reply, but I have to. I've gotten too upset by reading some of the replies and getting upset and furious over what a bunch of strangers thinks just seems wrong somehow to me. I have enough to do in my "real" life to continue to bother with this anymore.

Someones kid calls me names FIRST and I'm the one who gets in trouble for retaliating ?
Well, I stand by my opinion. If you're old enough to join the fire and start insulting people and calling them names, then you're old enough to handle the forthcoming retaliation.
It would be nice to know that others had been warned as well as myself, because it's not fair to be attacked by virtually everyone, stand up for myself and THEN get in trouble for it.
This is NOT fair.

Hey, all.
Not surprisingly, many comments have been removed from this thread today. I found examples of profanity, name calling, and personal insults regarding intelligence levels and parenting ability. Some of the people involved are now on their second warnings.
There are several comments in this string that bordered on violating the guidelines, but I have tried to go easy on everyone involved, because I can see this is a touchy subject.
I will be reviewing this thread again tonight, and again tomorrow. Please feel free to continue the discussion - stopping your dialog is not the purpose of this notification. I'd just like to ask that, in the course of your discussion, you not use profanity, call people names, blatantly insult their intelligence or lifestyle, or threaten them in any way.
Thanks for understanding,
Beth

Humbleserf...
can I ask you a question since you have refused to answer it thus far.
Why do you accuse me of not answering your questions further down in this posting?
You had never asked me any questions, you DID ask Peregrina. It wasn't until later on that you asked me the same questions, that I answered them as soon as I saw them. What you fail to realize is that I work two jobs. I have the internet at one, the Bank. The other, I am a server and have no time to worry about the internet. I have no internet at my apartment. It's a cost I don't need. Thus I only check PFB when I am at my first job, or if I stop over my parents. When I stop there however, i am more concerned with my Yahoo e-mail and myspace than PFB. This is how I pass time at work. If you think I am not answering you, odds are, I am enjoying my day off, or it's a weekend, or even possibly, that it's after I have left work, and on my way to the other job.
Now for you ignoring me when i asked you multiple times why yu kept saying I was refusing to answer your questions...I believe that falls under your catagory of rude.
Also, to call us a heard and tell us to continue with our sheep mentality, is very rude.
Yo usay I started name calling, I beg you to point out where. I called you rude. If that offended you, why did you call the people on Pogo the same thing? DO NOT call me names. The second you do, yo uwill be reported. Yo uhave already attacked people's children. I don't believe you have a clear concept of what manners are after your postings here, and I can DEFINATELY see why you have been banned from multiple sites...but refuse to admit they are your fault.
If you have a problem with me, feel free to e-mail me Snowprincess1106@yahoo.com
Or take it to the PFB higher ups, and tell Beth or Mr Helpful, or Erik, Or any of the mods what your problems are. I will be more than happy to listen.

I almost always click the option to turn chat off while playing pogo. This completely removes the chat part of the game from my screen, so there is no way I would ever see you asking a question.
Other players in the room have no way of knowing I have turned off chat. You may have been in a room where lots of the players used the same option.
That doesnt make them rude, for goodness sake! You go on about people trying to police you, but you are doing the exwact same thing. You expect people to chat, others reserve the right not to.
Neither party is wrong, it is a choice and option on how to use the website. Cetainly nothing to get your knickers in such a bunch over that you behave in a manner resulting in your suspension.

You will violate the Terms of Service if you (or others using your Account) do any of the following:
* Harass, threaten, embarrass, or do anything else to another Member or guest that is unwanted. This means: don't say bad things about them, don't keep sending them unwanted messages, don't attack their race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. If you disagree with someone, respond to the subject, not the person.
Complaining and whining and calling people names is considered "Harassment", sweetheart. You don't have the right to insult people because they don't follow YOUR idea of politeness.
Pogo DOES investigate. They don't just arbitrarily suspend an account because of one complaint, unless they see proof validating the complaint.
Since you don't mention exactly what you say, I'm guessing it was something REALLY rude.

I was a member of Pogo for years up until about 8 months ago. I generally enjoyed their games and the badge challenges. However, I've always despised the chat feature. To me, it was disruptive to the game, as a constant scroll of chatting kept interrupting my concentration on the game I was playing. But even worse than that, is when you're playing a game against the other players in the room (e.g. Bingo, etc), most people like to congratulate the winner, which in itself is fine. The problem is, if you don't congratulate the winner, some people can start giving you a hard time. That's absolutely ridiculous. I came to the site to play games, not to chat. If I want to chat online, there are thousands of chat rooms available on the internet for me to do just that.
I don't care to be shamed into chatting.

I never use that site, but a friend recently sent my hubby a trial use invitation, and he's been using it for the past few days.
I was looking at the screen when he was playing, and I saw how it was set up.
I thought it seemed silly to combine chatting with game playing. When I'm playing a game, all I want to do is concentrate on it, especially if the game depends on timing.
I think it's a poor design.
Chat should be a completely different page on the site.

Hi.
Pogo has a featured page called Miss Netiquette. In there your very issue is addressed.
Unfortunately, as you know, there are a lot of trolls there. SOMEHOW these people don't violate the TOS. But, others, who have to put up with them, because they dont know the TOS as well as the trolls do, are actually the ones who get suspended. (This, by their own admission). Read it. It's very sad that Pogo cannot figure out how to deal with trolls.
Also, I have seen a website devoted solely to people who have been banned or suspended by Pogo, claiming without explanation. So, no, it would seem you are not alone.
Whether you did anything wrong, I don't know. I do know I find it rude to be in a room and say Hi, and nobody responds. But, I have come to realize that Pogo's design is to blame.
By design, Pogo sets people up for failure. If I am in Pogo, but in private chat, usually because I'm getting sick by the perverted conversations, and if you were to come in, I would have no idea you said Hi to me.
Others, may just be so engrossed in the game, they dont even see you. You know it happens, you've done it yourself. We all do.
Still, others disable the chat windows altogether.
Sometimes people are in the room, but not at their computers.
The worst scenario, usually late at night, I'd suspect, are those who use programs to play for them. This is a clear violation of terms, but, I suspect a very large number of people use them, and the reason they dont respond, is because they havent been in chat for hours!
Unfortunately, it seems as though Pogo (and other websites) feel justified in suspending people based on one sided investigations.
I wont comment on whether I think you were right or wrong. I have no idea. I do know Pogo seems to suspend people without cause, and I know they do suspend people with cause. I will state, again, that I think it is wrong to do so without proper investigation, and without telling the user why. While it may SEEM like a person should know what they did, perhaps they did not. And, when the suspension is over, they will undoubtedly repeat it, because they did not know what they did.

I just have to say this. You swore at a roomful of people because they didn't answer your question yet you wonder why you were banned? Oh, and by the way, swearing at people is..yep that's right..rude! Saying "well so and so swore too, why aren't they banned?" is just plain childish. I feel sad for you, I really do.

An online gaming site. Does it really effect you that much that you got banned? If it does, I belive that you need to rethink your prioritys.

I don't usually mention my life story because I have never wanted people to feel sorry for me - - in fact, my goal has always been to have those that do know to only think about how well I've handled my losses. If I've learned anything it's to be grateful for what I still have and not sweat the small stuff because it's just not worth it.
Have a great weekend!

You know, nothing anyone here says is going to get through to the O.P. I can't imagine how the poor thing was raised if humiliation is the punishment for every offense, intended or not.
The fact is, it's rude to point out others' rudeness. Even Miss manners says so.
I feel sorry for her. Unless that's rude. In which case, I feel totally humiliated. Really.

This may have been stated by another reply, and I apologize if I'm being repetitive, but I haven't read through all the replies.
I've been on Pogo for several years, and I generally not only ignore the chat, but I use the option that actually turns it off entirely. If I had been in that room, I would have had no way to even see your question, never mind answer it.
I assume many others utilize this option also, and therefore wouldn't have seen your type at all.

While I think having one side of the story (and embellished at that)...it's basically much ado about nothing. Some people just want to play games. Some are playing games against the clock or against the computer and don't want to be bothered with the "chit chat" and someone's need for a yes or no answer, civility, approval of their moral standards or manners at the risk of losing the place or the honor of putting their name in the winner's list.
I would LOVE to see all sides of this issue to see what REALLY was said....just calling other people rude is rude and sometimes it's the MANNER and TONE and CONTEXT of the communication and not just the content...
Anyway I love to play Mah Jong, and purchased it from Game House for this exact reason... everywhere that had this version had chats where people were trying to hook up, yak, convert me to the one true saviour, or refer me to another site....I ignored them and got accused of being rude (yes rude!!) but I never got booted because I simply didn't answer back. The way the OP is answering everything anyone says leads me to believe that something more innocent than calling someone "rude" went on. Just a hunch.
Anyway I doubt you've been banned forever, like others said, and you mentioned you were "tempoarily suspended" which is not total banishment. Perhaps some patience is in order.

The OP was suspended from an internet game site for admittedly using bad language in a chat but feels it's unfair because she doesn't believe that the other chat participants, who used language as bad as hers, were also suspended. She feels that because she has told Pogo her side of what happened that she should be instantly reinstated. Although this was the original content of the letter, somehow the whole thing has boiled down to a debate on what is right and wrong in human behavior.
The OP can say whatever she wants about manners and civility and preach until she's blue in the face about how horrible it is for people to be rude to one another. But the fact remains that there never has been and never will be any justification for humiliating another human being.

Newfie questioned far below all of these comments whether the chat was scrolling too fast for people to catch the question, and I responded with this:
This is exactly correct. The chat field at Pogo is extremely small -- only a few lines of short text can be seen at any given time. It also can freeze up on a person, then everything will scroll by fast all at once.

1) Were the other people you were arguing with temporarily banned? I know this may be a pointless question since you cannot log in there, but it's food for thought.
2) Perhaps all of you that were arguing were banned until they review the conversation and make a decision.
3) I have no problem with them banning you for that. I am sure you will get your priviledges back, but you can't call other people rude for not answering a question in a gaming room. Personally, I never talk on those little chat rooms because all I want to do is play the games. I am not there to make friends. I think that you need to take a deep breath and re-think the whole situation. I am sure that there were others on the site acting inappropriately, but it doesn't sound like there's a halo around your head either.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you are not presenting all the facts, and I also doubt you were suspended just because you said someone was rude. If you didn't like what was happening or what was being said, there is a mute button.
They are not going to extend your badge time because you violated TOS. How is that fair to others? If you didn't finish the badge, you didn't finish it. You can always go back and finish at another time as a Personal Challenge.

Ok, Marcy,
I was with you until I read most of your responses to the other commenters and now it's becoming a little more clear why you got banned from Pogo.
If you responded like this to Peregrina . . .
"People NEED to have their rudeness exposed, to be publicly humiliated for it, otherwise they will not realize they are being rude and go on being rude.
I really hope that you aren't the doormat like you made youself sound like with that comment. Because only doormats let people be rude to them without doing anything about it."
They NEED to be humiliated for it? Oh my!
& I would tell you what I think of your "doormat" comment, but the "kinder, gentler PFB" will not permit it, so, I'll refrain.
Based just on those comments, I can only imagine what you must have said to the "non-responders" in the game room that caused them to report you.
I realize I don't do online gaming and perhaps there is a differing protocol of etiquette that exists there, but, again, if the other site participants were irritated enough to report you, perhaps it wasn't them that went against that protocol.
Red suggested just re-registering with a new handle, but again, if you are this angry to dig in your heels and angrily respond to just about everyone who has commented here, I doubt you'd be willing to find any other way of dealing with the situation.
Good luck with your demands.

Ma'am, i have a feeling that this letter all comes down to manners, yet i do not believe that your manners are as great as you claim. i am not here to attack your manners, but you seem to be attacking everybody else who disagrees with you, and im just going to give you my personal opinion.
"This sounds alot to me like that BS xtians love to spout from the
bible. "Turn the other cheek"..Uh huh."
sound familiar? did you realize that when you publicly insult an ENTIRE religion, that is considered rude? it may not be your religion, just as it isn't mine, but it is somebodies religion, and i believe they deserve enough respect to not have it called "BS".
you have gone overboard, in insulting a religion that didn't even need to be brought into this post. personally, i believe calling somebodies religion "bs" is worse than not answering a question. maybe you were taught not only manners, but ignorance as well. no, this isn't an attack, but when somebody cannot respect somebody elses religion, then i think it is ignorance. you do not have to believe their religion, or like what they preach, but respect the fact that people out there DO like what they preach, and DO believe in it. i do not know what your religion is, but beleive me, i would never resort to calling it "bs". it is your religion that you believe in, and you have the right to believe in it, and that, is not "bs".

what the heck is pogo?
That being said, what difference does it make if you get an answer to a question? Is that a reason to get upset and start calling people on it? It worked out well for you. I feel bad for you getting 86ed and all because you sound like you really enjoy this thing. Consider this a lesson you won't repeat.
Plus, going onto another internet site and bad mouthing them probably won't do much to help your cause. It may make them extend it.

I do use pogo, however I NEVER partake in the chat feature that plagues the games. I'm not there to socialize, and frankly don't even pay attention to the chat window. I'm not there to socialize, I am there to play the games and have some quiet time to myself. I think that it is rude to demand someone partake in your chosen conversation when they through their silence have explicity expressed an interest in staying out of said conversation.

I consider it rude to DEMAND an answer, much less civility and manners. By DEMANDING civility and manners, Marcy, you are showing that you have none.
I don't know the particulars of your situation, but simply from the tone of your letter, I am disinclined to have much sympathy. You might keep that in mind, the next time you DEMAND someone respond to a question.

You get booted from pogo when (1) enough people report you for abuse or (2) when a pogo rep catches you using foul language, etc. It's all in the TOS. I've been banned from pogo a few times over the years.
Here's the thing: Just your name was banned, not your ISP address (which they used to do, before AOL bought out Pogo).
So you can start over with a new name, or you can wait (usually, a person is banned for three days).
And consider your online behavior. I have been at pogo for 10 years. If you asked the 'room' a question and it was ignored, consider that no one was paying attention to you, or they didn't know the answer, or they were in the middle of another conversation and didn't feel like diverting from it to answer your question.
You called a room full of people rude, when all you had to do was simply repeat the question. Sorry, but if someone in MY room had done that, they'd have 10 people chastizing them.
And save your breath: pogo won't do anything to help you.
