Very visible misspelling at El Pollo Loco Drive-Thru
Posted Mon November 20, 2006 3:09 pm, by M H. written to El Pollo Loco, Inc.
Write a Letter to this Company
Dear El Pollo Loco,
I paid a visit to your store (13357 Riverside Dr., Sherman Oaks, CA 91423) on Saturday November 18, 2006. For the record, my visit was pleasant, the order perfect and I had no problems at all.
I was a bit taken back, however, upon entering the drive-thru area. In large white letters, painted on the pavement, it reads, "DO NOT BLOKC" instead of "DO NOT BLOCK."
I snapped a photo while I was there, and the photo can be seen at:

I understand that mistakes sometimes happen. I would think, though, that such visible traffic control direction be spelled correctly in order to be properly effective.
I would like to suggest that the area be repainted so that it is spelled correctly.
Thank you.

"Taken back"...don't you mean taken aback? Someone needs to be "taken back" in a time machine, and fire their English teacher...

I'm glad the service and food were good. I think it's nice of you to bring this to their attention..
I bet you'll always remember this with a chuckle. I went to a store once- a famous donut store with a drive up window (Yum Yum) and their sign said "Buy one coffee get a free Ginger nap. That's what I need to stay awake... coffee and a nap. They did change it but I still chuckle... in a way it works... I'll not soon forget the name of the store!

OMG, I almost wet my pants and fell off my chair when I read this!
I'm glad you let them know, but for the sake of the store, I certainly hope the paint was recent and not around for quite a while - otherwise it calls into question why no one who WORKS THERE managed to notice it!

Maybe some of you all posting don't think this is a valid complaint, but to me it is! I've seen fast food places with stuff on their signs misspelled, but that's kind of the norm to see a "brekfast" sandwich or "sallads" or something advertised. But to have something PAINTED on to the drive-thru like that (and don't get me started on "thru")? That's horrible! I certainly wouldn't think highly of a fast food place that had that kind of blatant error.
Maybe it's because I'm an English grad and currently a writer and editor, and to top it off, I have OCD - but that kind of gross misspelling really bothers me! I don't know that I'd have written a letter though (even as a suggestion) - but you can bet I'd be talking to a store manager about it!
My favorite misspelled sign? PNC Bank sponsored the entryway ad/sign to a big shopping plaza in Erie, PA a few years back around high school graduation time. I watched a young man put up the letters, and it ended up saying: "Congradulations to the GRANVATING class of 1999" - LOL! I first thought they were out of the letter "U" and put in the "V" as a substitute, then forget the "D". But so many people called PNC to complain, it was fixed a couple hours later, "U" and "D" and all : )

Now you know the pain we all feel over some of the letters that come through here!
LOL, I would have taken a picture of that too. I sometimes wonder how things like that get past people.

This is a very nice letter. You didnt say anything mean or bad and you're bringing something to their attention! If you went inside and talked to someone there's no guarantee they would bring it to the proper attention but this way the people up top will see it and something will be done!!

It's great that you told them about this! Sometimes things so obviously are so hard to see. :)

If this is all you have to complain about, consider yourself lucky.
Honest to God, I can't believe you wrote a letter over this.
