What really gets me is that attitudes like this, and complaints like this, just tell me it doesn't matter what you do or how you do it, somebody has a problem with it.
If you have a commercial just showing a pizza and an announcer saying, "We have a good deal and our pizza tastes good", someone will complain the picture doesn't look the same in real life or they didn't consider the deal a good deal...Why pick everything apart? Find a hobby.
Pizza Hit's job is not to care about your kids, it is to make as much money as possible so their employees and owners can put food on the table for THEIR kids. Pizza Hut is a Pizza BUSINESS, not a children's learning and development center..

The only thing the commercial did for my son was make him beg me to order a pizza. LOL!

That commercial is obnoxious and stupid, but I doubt it has any impact on a child's behavior. The only impact it had on us is a race to the mute button twice an hour (somebody shut that dork up!) and to remind us just how lazy some advertisers are.

I agree with YOU!! I feel like Pizza Hut is saying the guy thinks its OK to rip off the place because he thinks the delivery guy made a mistake. That is not honesty nor is it anything I would teach my son to do. I would be teaching him to make sure of the price because you dont like it when you're ripped off, Why would anyone else feel different??

I agree with the earlier posters who point out that you're responsible for raising your children. Easy solutions to your problem have been noted below. Fine that you contacted Pizza Hut with your concern - now let it go and parent your children.

I really think you are out to cheat the system and get a free pizza because you think you can knitpick their ad. You might not even have children. If you did and youre this anal about a commercial you would not let them watch TV anyway. I cant think of ANY show or commercial that doesnt depict something that would offend you if youre this anal. Stop trying to get free pizza if you dont have a valid complaint (which you dont) I would be all for you if something happened to you and youre complaining about it. But youre just tearing apart anything you can. You obviously have DVR cause you must have had to watch this 30 times to find a reason to complain. Why not just prerecord the shows and fast forward past the commercials then you or your children wont be corrupted by make beleive lifes on TV commercials.

What's most offensive about this commercial is how incredibly stupid it is. It makes me not want to eat at Pizza Hut. The people in charge of this ad campaign should be fired. A trained chimp could probably write better commercials than this.

Here's the bottom line...no one but the parent, not even Pizza Hut, is responsible for the upbringing of anyone's children. It is the responsibility of the parent to instill values in their children and teach them right from wrong. A good or bad adult is not the product of what is watched on TV or listened to on the radio. A good or bad adult is a direct product of the upbringing they were afforded by their parent.
I think it is time for people to stop conditioning the outcome of their children's lives on things such as television shows and rap songs. Instead, we should take that commercial (or any other good example) and talk to our children explaining why what they are seeing is right or wrong. All it takes is a little conversation.
Pizza Hut is not responsible for the upbringing of this country's children, their parents are.
Just my opinion.

Bad example to children?
What about the fact the father essentially called the pizza boy stupid?
And sadly, the fact of the matter is, MOST customers are like this. While it is a bad example, it's not just for children, but for people of all ages.

It all boils down to this... Pizza hut is simply exposing human nature. It's human nature to want to "stick it to the man" because we all want complete control of our lives. That isn't possible when we have people making the rules around us. Someone is telling us how much we have to pay, where we can buy it and what to do with it when we have it... no matter how cheap an item is we all get excited when it's on sale. We all love when a loophole works in our favor. They aren't teaching your children anything new.

I never actually thought about it until I read this complaint.
While I don't consider it that "offensive" it is an irresponsible message to send to people that it is ok to "beat the system" and not be honest about errors like that.
While I don't think that is what Pizza Hut intended to portray, it is understandable that some consumers would take it the way of the OP (original poster)
What a lot of people do not know is that in many restaurants, the servers carry their own "bank" and if someone shorts their check or doesn't pay, or if the server makes a human mistake.. that money will come out of the server's pocket.

I agree. I DON'T like the ad. I think it makes people look stupid. Also, it shows poor taste of the guy that is "buying" the pizza at what he thinks to be at the "wrong" price. It also makes the wife (although you don't see her) look stupid that she LETS her husband do something like that. After the first time, I would have questioned him. Also, (and I haven't ordered pizza deliverey in a LONG time) don't they tell you when you place the oder the price? Wouldn't you question it then?
A bit off the subject, but the commerical I REALLY hate are ANY of the Geiko ones that DON'T have the lizard. (Like the caveman ones.) I think THOES should be pulled. But that is just because I think that they are REALLY stupid.

I disagree.
If it is offensive you have the option of not turning on the TV or tivo'ing through commercials.
There are plenty of commercials that are particularly not suited for kids - but it's not the company's responsibility to monitor what my kids are wathcing - it's mine.

I agree, Dan.
I have some experience in advertising, and it's made me very critical of bad commercials. I particularly loathe commercials that make the wife, husband, or parent look stupid. I just hate it and find it to be condescending and just not funny.
Pizza Hut needs a new ad agency.

Dan, I appreciate your concern. I would be concerned about what my children are witness to as well.
However, I think that your concern over this commercial is a bit of a stretch. Children are not so weak-minded that their perception of right and wrong will be changed over viewing a commercial.
Eventually, the popularity of the commercial will subside and you will not have to worry any longer. Until then, teach your children right from wrong and have a little more faith in them.

Pizza Hut mocking people who try to "cheat the system".
They are saying, "This fool thinks he cheated us and doesn't have the sense to check our prices".

I don't interpret it as he cheated them, obviously he doesn't and the delivery guy knows it (or he'd have said something). I think it makes the buyer appear dumb, as if he THINKS he cheated him. He rattles on like the fool he is. I think most kids, including mine, understand it. And mine are pretty literal but even they see it's just a joke. It could even be interpreted as customers are dumb too instead of fathers are scammers if you want to take it in another direction.
If my children didn't understand it though I would explain it and with the humor it was meant to present.

I saw that commercial, he DIDN'T cheat Pizza Hut, he only thinks he did. What they are trying to say is that the pizza price is so low that you think they made a mistake.

If I could sum up the reason that kids are soooo out of whack in today's society is because too many people take their intelligence for granted! Today's kids are alot smarter than most people give them credit for! But, by coddling them so much "we" (as a society) are raising a bunch of ADULTS who can't handle anything in the real world. There is no critical thinking abilities, no problem solving skills, definitely no ability to think for oneself and no real values.
Did you ask your children if they were offended? They are probably very aware of that fact that this is a commercial and not a documentary!
Besides, as a parent you have two options: turn off the TV or change the channel!
Please remember you are raising adults not children! You have children now, but, your goal as a parent is to have well adjusted adults in the future. Take the opportunity of an "offensvie" thing to talk to your child(ren) about your values! Tell them why you believe this man is wrong and ask what they think about it. You would most likely be surprised by their reply!

Uh, okay. It isn't really "offensive." Actually, children with the menatal capacity of a seven year might actually, wait for it... LAUGH. Yes, I said it, and I meant it. If they're old enough to like pizza, and they've watched TV for over 30 minutes (ever), then they're smart enough to know that commercials, you guessed, lie!

While I see your point, I also see it in a different light. When something a parent finds "objectionable" comes up on a television commercial Parents have two choices. Ignore it hoping the child glossed over it too or use it as an opportunity to teach a child what it means to lie, cheat etc and that there are consequences to certain actions. Depending on the commercial, it's context, and the age of the child.
What offends me is the medical commercials for certain prescription "recreational drugs" who's possible side effect is "an erection that lasts more than four hours") Kind of makes Pizza Hut's commercial a non issue.
But I'm glad you brought this to their attention, I'm sure they were targeting adults and didn't think of children watching TV unattended.

I understand what you're saying but honestly think you are taking this way too seriously. My kids know the difference between right and wrong, and that commercial certainly is not going to change anything. They view it with a complete undertsanding of the humor intended.
