I think that charging for WiFi at a cafe is lame but at the same time not paying "rent" is lame too. If you are hanging out at a cafe you should be constantly buying a coffee or food while you're there (and tip well). Buying one coffee and staying for hours is what cheap fucks do.

I was a cafe lead at Starbucks, (in Barnes and Noble) over the holidays a few years ago.
People come in for HOURS. They order a $4.00 venti latte and expect to sit there as they work anywhere from 1-4 hours.
When B&N introduced the WIFI with fees, they were hoping to curb the (bring your computer and stay for 6 hours) crowd.
Nothing in this world is free. (Didn't your mother share that with you?) Just because you buy a $4.00 overpriced coffee doesn't entitle you to free internet as well.
(I know people who would come in B&N, and read a book a week, just by sitting in the big chairs.) The store encourages people to relax, and it's a great company. Don't be greedy, sir.

Chad (or NOYB) has decided that he doesn't want to be an adult and seems confused by the concept of sharing his letter.
So, lets not waste our time trying to help someone who clearly is beyond help. He doesn't want it. Nor does he want to be polite or civil.

A company who is in business to make money.. is actually charging a fee to ..hmm.. err.. MAKE MONEY. Go figure how that works, eh?
Ever think that Panara Bread offers free wifi because they want more clients..who will buy more products which in turn MAKES MONEY! Again, go figure how that works, e

Good Luck with your big poll/campaign against Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, and Borders Books.
I get it.
I agree, they really ARE the most "hip" and "happening" places to show off your latest gizmo's in public. One can drink tons of coffee and stretch out their free wifi time... but how much bread can one eat to accomplish the same thing.... and the people who go to Panera's aren't half as "cool" and "with it" (yet) as those at the other places.

If Panera Bread has free WiFi access, then go there instead! Problem...solution!
If you don't want anybody to comment on your letter, then don't share it! Problem...solution!
If you want Starbucks to offer free WiFi, then suggest you will patronize them more if they offer free WiFi, and don't call them greedy and threaten a boycott! Problem...solution!
If you want to be taken seriously and not dismissed as a troll, then don't cut and paste something that makes you seem to be as mature as the average 2-year-old! Problem...solution!

Get off your computer, do your social studies homework (did you make that diorama yet? your sister ate extra popsicles today, so you need to wash the sticks if you're going ot use them), and you'd better be in bed by 9:30 or I'm taking away your Richie Rich comic books for two months!

Maybe, just maybe, they are charging you to make up for all the people who camped out there all day (possibly in the parking lot as well)?

Yuck.
Does anyone else smell something? It's so bad it's almost as if there's more than one. It smells like the big monster guy that hides under the bridge and won't let you past. What the hell do you call that guy/thing?

You want a company to give you something for free, something that does have an expense tied to it. Sounds like greed to me.
Get your own ISP and stop with the attitude.

I hope you get honest feedback from them about your concerns. Maybe what they're really charging you are fees for using their space. Do you support them financially by buying their products? If you feel so strongly about this issue, then you should buy from other establishments. No reason to continue supporting certain businesses you think are greedy when you like other places better.

Didn't you write this same letter a week ago?
As I explained to you, then, your offensive tone isn't going to win you anything. I think it's fair to make a SUGGESTION that they consider free Wi-Fi. But to come out and accuse them of greed (true or not) isn't going to do anything useful.
My suggestion to you: If you want free WiFi, go to Panera. If Panera is so great (and I happen to agree it is), then go there. You don't need Starbucks.

You're right. People should not demand a business to give away something for free just because another business does so. He asked for honest feedback and you gave it to him.

No one asked you. The world does not resolve around your views and you do not own Starbucks to speak on their behalf so shut your crap and respect other people's feedback. I could care less for your lifeless blogging junk

There are already people that treat B&N and Borders like a library. If the attached coffee purveyer were to offer free WI-FI, that problem is sure to increase as the signal would not be confined to the Starbucks area. And Starbucks has a very good reputatiopn for being greedy in a positive way - they pass it on to their employees and to the people that grow their coffee.
