What a nice thing to do, Payless!

I just want to say that my trip to the Payless Shoe Store in Liberty, MO didn't start out to be an exchange. I had taken my step-daughter to get a pair of tennis shoes because she had left hers at her mom's. No big deal, we just wanted her to have a pair at her dad's house. So I asked her to wear a pair on mine up there and she could wear the new ones home.

I had purchased the shoes she was wearing at the very same Payless a couple months prior, but the shoes had developed a split near the front so I hadn't been wearing them.

We found an acceptable pair of shoes and I had found another pair quite like my old ones, and proceeded to the cashier station.

I asked her if they had any complaints or problems with the shoes splitting, and I showed her what happened to mine. She took my off guard by asking me if I wanted to exchange the old ones with the ones I had picked out for myself. I told her I didn't have my receipt, nor was that the reason I had asked her the question. She said it was ok, she knew they sold those shoes at one time - they still had some in the store.

I told her I appreciated her kindness and told her to go ahead with the exchange. My step-daughter and I discussed this event on the way home, and how you don't run into people like that very often. I'm glad my step-daughter was able to see how nice it is when something unexpectedly nice happens.

She didn't have to exchange those shoes but she offered, and I thought it was very professional of her to do so.

And she doesn't want to get her in trouble?
