Either this is complete shenanigans, or the management of this particular restaurant is so disengaged or uncaring to allow an employee to try and sell counterfeit purses or shirts behind the counter.
I have heard of many things going on at fast food restaurants, but nothing like this.
That said, this letter is tacky because you evidently did not care enough to notify a manager or walk out and eat someplace else. You were willing to put that aside so you could have your lunch, and then chose later on to write a letter to KFC asking for freebies.

You could have done one of two things:
Spoken to a manager immediately.
Picked up the phone and dialed "9-1-1" to report them.
Either way, I'm sure the suits and other items would have come down off that counter pretty quickly.

If I went into a restaurant and an employee there was selling illegal counterfeit stuff and trying to be pushy, making me buy it, I'll sock her in the face.

You didn't call the manager or the cops, but instead stayed and ate a ten pc meal and a popcorn chicken combo and were irritated with the entertainment and your husband was furious. And went on your merry way.
You see a bag lady with scalp distress and don't offer her scalpacin or Head On? What's wrong with this picture? Wow- I want to know what's in their "Secret Recipe".

I went into a Target, somewhere near JFK airport - I think is was Northern Blvd location. After asking an assistant for help finding cat litter, I noticed that she kept kicking herself. Instead of leading me to the cat litter, she took me to an area in the back (I believe it was actually in one of the rest rooms), and she offered to sell me Chicken McNuggets. I suspected something was wrong, because she took off her red Target apron, and donned a McDonald's cap. She didn't have a nametag either, but she is the one who kicks herself. I was surprised to have an offer of help in the rest room, because I had heard Target employees don't offer assistance in the rest rooms.
I demanded Target provide me with a year's supply of cat litter as compensation, but they told me I was crazy and laughed at me. Imagine. I feel your pain.

You really blew it on the reimbursement for your lunch. Everything else about your letter was great. Now I question the validity of your letter. You seem as slimey as the lady selling counterfiet items.
Shame on you!

I wonder if the manager permitted solicitation and sales by this girl. Why was she smacking her head, and with what, her hand? Maybe something was not right with the girl and the manager let her see if she could sell a few for a short time to help her out.

Holy crap! Usually complaints about employee conduct are pretty frivolous, but if the letter is true the employee is WAY out of line and could get KFC in a crapload of legal trouble (due to the items being counterfiet).
I usually don't side with "give me free stuff" posters, but in this case it might even be deserved. I hope this gets acted upon ASAP!

Complaining to a manager would have done nothing. It's clear that since the employee was doing this so openly and even using counter space that it was allowed by the manager or at least whoever was in charge at the time.
The letter writer is correct to bring it to the attention of KFC itself.

The selling of these items was certainly allowed by whoever was in charge at the time.
The way that the employee was doing the selling, however, is something else.

Could I have the exact address and the employees name, please?
I would have been running to the ATM!! Darn my bad luck!
Kidding aside, I concur with the other remarks - it was tacky and illegal, but I don't know what that has to do with getting free food. Other than the fact that you're just a drama queen looking for handouts.

Why in the world do you think you deserve free food because a KFC employee tried to sell you a purse or shirt? You bought food and ate it - - transaction complete.

I absolutely agree that the employee was acting strangely; however, like Jeffrey, I do not see why you should get reimbursement after the fact.

It's no doubt that this employee was not acting correctly. However, I fail to see why this deserves a 10 pc meal.
I have to assume that the manager knew about this. However, speaking to the manager might have helped. If not, take... your... business... elsewhere.

Sounds like the employee was a bit off-kilter, but how do you deserve a comped meal?
The Entitlement Fairy knows no shame, it seems.
