There should be a way for users to delete their own submitted letters or comments posted to them. As I read through people's comments and letters, I often wonder why certain things are said and if those who post them wish they hadn't.
While I agree PFB is a forum for airing complaints and getting advice, if people are simply posting to be argumentative or obnoxious, there should be a way to remove that concent if desired.

I cannot post here when I'm using my XP computer.
Is there something I need to do to fix this?
(note, if I'm on the Mac this works fine)
--------------------------------
Here's what I'm using
Computer: HP mini
OS: XP, Home edition (2002), Service pack 3
Browser: Safari & Firefox*
Other websites this happens on: none. It only happens here.
Locations: Mainly from my college's wireless internet. But even when I logged in on the old XP desktop I had the same issues. **
* And yes i've tried both browsers. (no i haven't tried IE, mainly because I refuse to run it)
** And yes I'm on the same wireless internet right now (on the mac), so it's not the network.
--------------------------------
So any ideas?

I have been sitting here perusing the Suggestion Box (I know, a pretty boring Saturday night), and I came across some ancient posts in the current thread. For example, Firebrat Tracy's farewell post is here (RIP).
I was wondering if a new archive could be created, as it takes a bit of time to go from entry to entry. My guess is even those fortunate enough to have FiOS experience (unexpected) delays.
Thanks!

My name is Louise and I am a Dunkin Donut customer. My suggestion is the flavor of Collata's. Why not have a Pina Coolata flavor. That would be very refreshing for summer.

How is it you can have a bunch of letters written to a particular company but yet when I tried to write one the site insists you have no profile for them? (And yes I was spelling it right)

First: If I see one more misuse of "defected" I'm going to scream and run in circles. It's a past tense verb, not an adjective.
Second: While we're at it, a functioning search engine that turns up current letters would be a very good idea. The Google option does not even do that. The company search is not particularly good either; if the name a user types in for a company is not exactly what's in Planetfeedback's database it comes back as Unknown. There are times when I've had to resort to an external Google search to track down a letter to the company on the site and use the Write Letter to This Company feature to get a letter through. Sometimes even that doesn't work, if it's an old letter.

I would like for there to be a bit more respect to the use of certain terms within letters. This has come as the result of the "Barclay raped me" letter. Yes, there are words that can have several meanings. Bitch can be used both as a negative term and can also mean a female dog. Cock can mean a rooster or male genitalia. As for the definition given in that letter regarding "murder", the use of the word as a collective noun is taught since grade school. The word "rape" is not. Ask any stranger on the street what "murder" means. They'll tell you that it can mean someone killing someone, or a murder of crows. The fact that someone may say "this is murder" while waiting around seems to indicate that they may use the term without thinking. Ask any stranger on the street what "rape" means. Given the emotionally charged use of the term, people are more likely to say that it's "forced, unwanted sex." Last time I checked, this was a community. Communities respect one another. So go with the more common usage of the term (there are other ways to say that they were ripped off or stolen), since I seriously doubt that a dictionary is mightier than the sword.

How about a report button, because some letters are racist, sexist, discriminory of people who are fom other contries and or speak other lanuages, or a certan age, weight, where they work.

Chad, December is the time when most retailers try to make enough money to stay open another year. Failure to perform in the Christmas season is a big reason a lot of company's go out of business or bankrupt. There is always a chance of running into unfair customers. Best thing to do if you value your position is to just agree and tell them you are sorry but that is the stores policy. Then refer them to your store manager or person in charge. They are the ones who can best defuse a tough situation. I talk from experience. 30+ yrs in retail service on both sides of the fence. I would also suggest you silently laugh it off until your break. Then when you come back you will be much better off at handling this sort of thing. This sort of thing is why company's can not just have a computer finish an order. Somewhere close must be a customer service person ready to turn a problem into an opportunity to keep a customer happy. IE: Repeat revenue. I totally understand what you are saying and it happens all the time just more at Christmas. Hope I shed some light on your situation.

Well right now I can't post from home.
(I know it's not any kind of banning since I haven't gotten any emails, and I can post from my college computers).
Anyway, the Mac's laid up for a few days - broken power cord, new one on order.
So in the meantime I dusted off the 5 year old PC and put the beast online.
Quick stats - HP running XP with a fresh install, surfing with Safari (primary) but I've also tried Google Chrome and Firefox. (I won't use IE)
I can web surf here but whenever I post it gives me "General error". Even on the suggestion board.
anyone know what I can do to fix this?
(and no i confess i haven't installed SP 2 or 3 yet, not sure if I will or not)

or wherever these pages are stored?
Quite often when I'm browsing, I'll click on a link here and my entire browser will start lagging.
I know it's not my connection though, simply because other internet based services aren't affected by this "pfb-lag".
For example...
If I click on a pfb link and start to lag, all of my other tabs or pages in safari will lag too
but my telnet mud (on a different port obviously) has no lag whatsoever. and believe me that MUD is a sensitive puppy, it lags for jsut about everything... except for this mystery PFB lag
am i the only one?

I personally think the link should go to *this* page, the "Current suggestion box" page.
It's a bit confusing the way it's organized now
and new people still post their suggestions to the archives because they don't realize it's not the current suggestion box

I have a suggestion, and I'm making it here instead of the KT because it is something that can't wait till the next meeting.
Maybe PFB could forgive any demerits that were handed out to people whose comments were removed relating to the KT. I think that would be fair and possibly help restore some harmony around here.
What do you think?

Is there a way to keep the letters on the Read all page longer? If seems that there is only enough space for a certain number. ( I count 25 right now) If you write a letter, then there are a bunch more by other people written that day, your letter wont be seen on that page. If it isn't in the 15 minutes of Fame, you might never get seen. If it doesn't get seen (with out having someone search for that topic), how can other people know about the problem?

In the past, I and others have suggested omitting the portion of the letter generator where the writer is prompted to fill in what they would like the company to do. I always felt it was the reason for some requests that almost seem to be added as an afterthought or because it's required, and not necessarily what the letter writer intended to ask for when they began writing the letter.
I don't recall seeing that part of the letter generator the last time I wrote a letter. Was it indeed eliminated?

I don't know that this is a suggestion, but rather an observation. I was going to write a letter to Tropicana Products, and I noticed the CEO listed, Brock Leach, left in 2002.
Mr. Leach is evidently now off doing community service and studying in the seminary.
I saw an angry letter a month or two ago from someone who was incensed that the CEO information was not accurate for a company they wrote to. I'm not incensed, never over fruit juice, but it made me curious. With all the companies in your database, how do you keep it updated? CEO's often come and go like the wind.
I'd prefer not to write a letter to Mr. Leach, since the topic is not related to his tenure at Tropicana. His mind is on less consumer related matters these days.

I've seen several letters where the letter writer is clearly complaining... but had clicked on Compliment... and so they had a giant smiley face next to the letter.
Perhaps in the coding it might be possible to change the color of one of the words to help people see the difference... or maybe that giant smile/frown face next to it.
granted there will be some still who won't read the difference.
and for those.....well they'll just amuse the rest of us when their complaints are smiling. :)

I just happened to come across a discussion in Venice's blog, in which Mr. Helpful addressed the content of blogs. It surprised *me*, because I had never seen any such discussion or this issue discussed in the past. Maybe I missed it. In my experience, the blog area was strictly hands off in the past.
In reading a couple of Mr. Helpful's replies, it became evident that the blog area is not the Wild West that I am pretty sure it used to be. In the past, as far as I recall, you could post just about anything imaginable. While the discussion I read seemed to focus on criticism of this site or its management, it naturally leads one to wonder about what other behavior may be inappropriate.
For example, in the mid-distant past, a member could say just about anything about another member, but not in the letter area.
What I was wondering is if there is some way to bring the current policy on blog comments, if it differs from the past or for that matter letter comments, to the attention of the community at large. If there is a difference in the scope of blog comments compared with letter comments, could it be somehow described?

This may have been suggested before, but here goes....
Have you considered adding a third option to the site in terms of sharing letters? I'm thinking perhaps an option to keep the letter private, an option to share the letter (feedback) but not allow comments, and an option to open your letter up for discussion?
After reading the numerous attempts the OP of the Qwest letter has made to explain that she really just wanted to put the feedback out there for others - maybe this would encourage others with similar issues to write as well - but really was not interested in the opinion of everyone who read her letter, even if the intent was to help (no digs here, I see why she would want others to be aware of the issue she has had), it occurred to me that maybe a third option was a good idea. You could give letter writers an option to avoid the (sometimes) drama and still cultivate the diverse discussion this site seems to be known for, for those who want it.

What exactly is the point of this section? It's called the suggestion box and you get a lot of really excellent ones but every single response is the same "We can't do that at this time."

I mentioned this in the TOS blog but I figured it might be good to suggest it here as well.
Could we perhaps have a limited ability to edit our own posts?
Perhaps 5 minutes of edit time allowed, like what I've seen on other sites?
That way those of us who are contentious about our spelling errors can fix our mistakes. Personally I'm usually embarrassed when a simple spelling error slips by me, & would love to be able to fix those errors.
Or, perhaps, considering the new TOS ... one can save him or herself from issues by editing, or even deleting posts that they have second thoughts about.
Granted, yes... it would be nice to always think things through 100 % before hitting the "post" button, but... given that we're humans and prone to mistakes... It would be nice to have a limited option to fix our own mistakes before PFB fixes them for us.
And of course, the "edit" function would only be limited, so people can't go back and change history.

The search returns have little if any relevance to the search terms.
Search for United Parcel Service and you'll see what I mean. You get random letters about bad service, but none about UPS. I'd just written one to the company on Monday, but the search box didn't turn it up. I did get complaints about Burger King, a company that doesn't even take email complaints.
On a related note: If you try to write a letter to UPS, which is what everyone calls it, the system doesn't know who UPS is. You have to type in United Parcel Service, even though no one calls it that. UPS.com doesn't come up either, even though that's their official website. And forget trying to write to Land's End; I can't get Planetfeedback' site to admit the company exists.

What happened? Your database of letters disappeared and all that are left are old ones. For example, Costco now only shows a handfull of 5-8 years old letters. Other brands too. Looks like someone accidentally deleted the wrong end of the spectrum!

I would like to see something happen when people repeatably go off topic on posts. There are many people that will do posts about the Government/ on every topic.
I think a Warning First, deleting the posts, then if it keeps going, suspending the account for a while.
(Now, If the Original post is about the above topics, then, of course the posts are on topic, so they are still with in the TOS.)

This may well have been suggested before, but I was thinking it would be pretty darned convenient to have the company name a link in the way a user's name is (if they are shared). That way you wouldn't have to go find the Shared Letters link and type in the company name. You could be viewing a letter, and then, if it struck your fancy, you could click right on the company's name and see their other letters.

my president wouldn't send his kids to my kids school. why is it that the person in charge of public school policy on the federal level afraid to send his kids to public school. are the secret service unable to protect the first children in a public school? what does this say about my children's safety. maybe the education isn't up to his standards. what about my children's education? what will motivate this president to fix public education if he has no personal stake. if being an american gave you a personal stake in public ed. than past presidents wouldn't have failed our children so miserably. it seems like obama is all talk. did anyone see their childrens menu on the news? organic this ,organic that! what did my child eat? a packed lunch, cause the school food is atrocious!

On Monday afternoon I posted a letter to Rite Aid. Everything went through and the letter showed up right away on the widget, in my e-mail and in my profile. However, if you click to read the entire letter, you get an error message that the requested page is not available. What happened? You can even do a search on key words in the letter and find it but you cannot access the entire letter.

Right now, there's a letter on the main page to Best Buy, complaining about the Geek Squad. It says there are four comments/replies. But there actually are only two--mikethornton's and my own. Does this mean there were two other comments, and they were removed?
I'm just curious. No biggie. Thanks much.

Dear Ford manufacturers,
I'm glad to see that you do not need a loan right now
from the government.
I would like to see you manufacture 2 more types of
cars for good mile/gal. If you could build a 1200cc
model and a 1600cc model. They would give more than
35 miles/gallon (city driving). 8 valves 4 cylinder.
To get good milage the valves should be small.
The price should be under $10,000 U.S.

I THINK SOME OF THESE RESPONDERS ARE TRYING TO PICK FIGHTS W/PEOPLE WHO ARE FED UP W/CERTAIN STORE POLICIES AND STUFF. I HAD A REAL WISEGUY WHO THOUGHT HE KNEW IT ALL RESPOND TO ONE OF MY LETTERS [IT WAS ABOUT TARGETS STORE POLICIES ON SIGNAGES [WHICH I COLLECT AND DO NOT SELL ]I THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE SOME KIND OF SCREENING OR IGNORE BUTTON ON THIS SITE AND I ALSO SUGGEST THAT YOU HAVE A LIST [FULL] ON RESPONDING COMPANIES AS WELL BECAUSE I NEVER GOT ANY RESPONSE AT ALL FROM TRU[TOYS R US OR TARGET ]AT ALL I KNOW I WROTE THEM THE RIGHT WAY IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT THIS? AND BY THE WAY I TOLD THAT WISEGUY OFF IN RESPONSE TO RESPONDER.

How can I find new letters that were posted in the last few days or so? All I see are the 15 minutes of fame. I tried putting todays date in the search. Is there a trick to seeing new letters?

The censorship here is getting ridiculous. I had a comment deleted for absolutely no good reason. All I did is tell the letter writer getting overcharges 60 cents is in no way horrific. From what I've seen only certain people get picked on and censored. The "regulars" are allowed to post freely but the rest of us are unfairly censored.
Thank you for letting me express my frustration. Happy Holidays!

First time viewer/registrant to your site and I think it's terrific!
And after reading so many "events" posted, I would like to propose that PLANET FEED BACK consider taking these issues to another level. Specifically, if one individaul has an "issue" it's just one person.......if 100 or 1000 have the same issue, then "its an epidemic!".....
Proposal: Establish a committee to begin handling "issues" within reason and. if validated, and necessary,initiate/approve action to take it to the next level.......and by that I mean, what would 100 or 1000 phone calls/or e-mails do if they all were initiated simultaneously? Or, if it were just KNOWN by the contributor that the "possibility" existed? And, no, I'm not proposing violence at all but, remember this, somewhere right now there is a helpless individual who's a victim of the present indifference by corporations/government and although we're all potential "victims" where are our friends?
Thanks for listening/viewing.........let's all go forward! I'm for it!

If you delete my response...I want to know why! Sometimes I spend a fair amount of time replying only to have it deleted.
It makes no sense to me. Any other board I am on will talk to me if I have done something wrong...not PFB!
I want to know why you delete my posts! EVERY TIME you delete one.

Would it be possible to add a way that we can follow up or show resolution on our complaints. For example, Verizon responded very quickly to my complaint, and worked with me very quickly to see that I walked away from the situation.
A poster feedback section allowing us to show that the company either..
1. Never responded back at all
2. Responded, but not to our satisfaction
3. Responded and made everything right.
It just seems that credit should be given where credit is due, and unless a user takes the time to read all the replies, they have no way of telling (by just reading the initial complaint letter) if the situation was resolved in a positive manner.

Is there a reason that the same 25 profiles show consistently? I understand that it reads that these are randomly chosen by a computer program, but I think the program is either turned off or just not working.
I think everyone's names/profiles should be rotated on a regular basis.
I have never seen donno; Nate; and calmsly listed on there at all along with many others who consistently post comments in here.
Maybe the name of this column should be changed to "top 25 who post comments and then let it rotate on a regular basis.

I just noticed that we have a second Michelle O here on Planetfeedback. I'm surprised that 2 users can have virtually the same name - only capitilization is different. Is there no cross check when new users choose their names? Although I don't yet disagree much with anything #2 has said, I have been very careful not to get involved in the political conversations and don't want anyone to confuse our opinions.
I assume my only option here is to choose another name. If the spelling or spacing was different I wuld understand, but simply a lack of capitilization shouldn't allow identical screen names, IMO.

I'm having problems receiving RSS feeds through Bloglines. I have deleted the feed and tried resubscribing to it but Bloglines keeps saying there is a problem with the feed. I don't know if this is a problem on PFB side or Bloglines, but this has been happening for the past couple of weeks.

I purchased a range on 10/08/08 and was told that on our sales slip that we could go on line and fill out a questionaire with a chance to win a $4,000.00 gift card. I have been on the internet for l hour and I still have not been able to register. My wife and I have purchased many items from Sears and this is the first time that we have been disappointed. We have had to travel to Sears twice and have many problems getting our range delivered. Now, we can't even get to sign up for the gift card. What is happening to Sears - we are so disappointed. Fix it, or you will not be in business for another 50+ years. Ronald C. Thompson

I don't even know if you guys look at these suggestions any more, but I just had some feedback I wanted to share, and I didn't think it warranted writing a letter for it.
I wanted to say that I'm glad that PFB is sticking true to their TOS and enforcing things better. I like that they are protecting letter writers' opinions. I think this is a good thing.
However, I think some things have gotten out of hand, especially with the recent Lowe's letter. The huge exchanges between commenters, the OP and the PFB team has just left a bad taste in my mouth. I get why people are mad at the letter writer for some of his or her's comments. I totally agree with the PFB team and them trying to get people to stop nitpicking the OP on that issue.
I am just getting this feeling that the PFB team is out to get some commenters. I mean...the whole PFB experience seems to have changed for me--and it isn't for the better. I do like the new rules, but all this squabbling and fighting...it's getting annoying. It seems like it pops up on more and more letters. I don't know how to word it any better...I understand that naturally, the team would always be on the letter writer's side, no matter want...since this is your website and it wouldn't be good for the PFB team to disagree with a letter and say so, I just think that you guys are really forcing it sometimes. Ah, I don't know how else to say it, sorry.
I wanted to tell you guys all of this and I hope you don't mind. Please keep up the good work.

I wondered if there is a way to maybe have the option to archive older postings in blog areas? When I try to go into blogs belonging to Venice or LadyMac, for example, it takes a long long time for the screen to load - I assume it is because there is so much info there. Typically I end up hitting control/alt/delete and exiting the site rather than wait.

On August 25,2008 I was in the Colonie store purchasing a television through an extended warranty.
I would suggest very strongly that your employees that work on the phones, dealing with extended warranties attend training classes on attitude and courtesy.
A more efficient solution to that problem might be to send Bryan from your Colonie store to train these nasty people.
Having had to make three trips to Colonie because your employees that work on the phones are somewhere in never-never land left me in a less then happy frame of mind. Had it not been for Bryan and his professionalism this may have been sent to the attorney general and not you.
Sincerely,

Currently, a letter writer can choose to have his/her letter shared and publicly viewed and commented on, or keep it private and only the company sees it. Given a recent site member's frustration over every single kind of comment people make, maybe one solution for sensitive people would be to offer a "post my letter so people can read it but don't allow comments" option.
*I* don't like it, but it's a possible solution. Just a thought. Thanks.

I think it would be nice if there was an option on "shared letters" to view the newest letters [in addition to the option to search companies and view the most popular]. I can only read the same discussion a few times before I get bored. I really like the site and spend more time here than I should!

I have a suggestion. for many of the bulletin boards I belong to, I get an automated email whenever anyone replies to anything I post.
I realize PFB uses a very unique format, however, is here anything in the software that would allow at least the letter writer to get an email notification that someone has responded to their letter?
This is in response to my own comments in my blog a few months ago, as well as a PFB reply today. Many, many letter writers never come back and post. I have to wonder if they are even aware of the responses to their letters and how much quality interaction is being missed?

You have been instrumental in helping consumers with contacting and addressing issues. The results obtained by Planet Feedback sending out the letters is something I feel should be shared on your web site. I had been addressing an issue with T-Mobile for months with no results. Two days after Planet Feedback sent my letter, I was contacted by three individuald from T-Mobile, and the issue was solved that day. Incidents such as this should be posted. Thanks again!

OOPS, I posted this in what I later realized was an archived suggestion box. PFB, you may want to lock or close that thread. Anyway, here is my suggestion:
Hi, I have a suggestion. Not sure if it has been posted in the past.
I am wondering if it is possible to ignore a specific member's
comments?
For example, on many bulletin boards/forums I belong to, you can
"ignore" a member. this means you never see any comments from them.
Sometimes, it makes threaded conversations look odd, however, it cuts
down a lot on bickering,etc.

I posted a letter tonight, and when it was all done, the informational box to the right of the screen indicated that the letter had NOT been shared. Hmmm. I could have sworn I checked the appropriate box, and one purpose of the letter was to spread the good word about a wonderful product.
I decided to start over. I copied the body of the letter, zipped through the initial "start a letter" process, pasted in my letter w/out a hitch, carefully checked the "share my letter" box, and the same thing happened: The site said my letter hadn't been shared. But when I checked the widget, the first one was posted.
Just thought I'd give you a heads up about it, in case you were unaware.
Thanks!

Where is "THE Complaint Box??" Why is it so easy to complain and nearly impossible to report back action taken on the complaint?? And what is with the cryptic navigation options??? I went in to read my complaint and update the action/response and can't seem to easily do so.
I then went in search of "help" do you have a help button?? Do you have an equally responsive feedback system?? Should members create a feedback site to complain about you?? Why do I have to BLOG my concerns in hopes of a repsonse?? who runs this site?

How does one use the avatar function?
I see how to click to pick a file. I see that it has to be a JPEG or PNG. I see that it has to be less than 2 MB. I presume that it can't violate anyone's copyright (although there are plenty of people's avatar's that do). I see where it shows the file I selected and says "Pending Authorization." I see where, a day later, my old one is back. Even if I select to remove the old one, the old one comes back.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, so is there a place I can go to read further information on the rules and procedures for avatars?
Thanks!

So that I can stop harping on it, I'll ask: are people required to register with their real names?
There have been a few letters, recently, posted with obviously fake names (e.g., "OhYeah B.") or without names (it just shows as " ."). These are letters that have been popular and have been seen (and even commented on) by PF staff.
I don't care. Actually, I think it makes sense NOT to display someone's real first name on a shared letter. If people can comment with a nickname, you might as well let them post shared letters with that nickname.
Obviously, whether PF choose to send letters with fake names (I'm aware that you give letter writers the option to withhold their contact information from a letter) is a decision that is none of my business.
I just want to know what the policy is.
Thanks.

On Feb. 11 I sent a letter to united airlines about the bad experience my sister had at the LA airport. Besides being delayed for over 11 hours there were no customer representatives available and the gate agents were rude and did not seem to care about the passengers that had been delayed and missed their connecting flight. United Airlines responded right away and offered her a voucher for her next travel. Thank you planetfeedback. You have helped me in the past and have come through again.

In April 2007 I purchased 4 tires from PepBoys. You had a mail-in rebate for buy 3 get 1 free. I have not yet received my rebate. Just like other customers, I received the same explanation that there wasn't any record of this transaction. Since then I have faxed a copy of my receipt to the Resubmit Dept and called to check the status of my rebate. I was again told that there was no record. I then went back to PepBoys to get another rebate form and sent it in as instructed by your customer service dept. It is now Feb 2008 and I still have not received my rebate. What is going on with your system and/ or employees that I'm waiting almost a year for $58.99?

Could the Suggestion Box link be made so that it jumps to the current Suggestion Box. As I write this, I'm thinking, "someone must have already written about this." I'm not up to reading the entire box, though I guess the powers that be have to do that.
It is fairly confusing to hit the link and be faced with all the old letters. Once you stumble across the link embedded at the top, you are on your way, but life could be easier...

It must be a very hard job to read every letter and every comment. (I'm not being sarcastic)
However, I've seen examples where something that's out-and-out offensive is left, while something that's borderline is quickly whisked off.
So that I'm not speaking for others, I'll give a personal example.
Rather quickly, a comment I posted giving the URL to Hallmark's web site (a known site that's not malicious and clearly is not me advertising) was removed within a matter of hours. Without notification or explanation.
On the other hand, a letter that uses profanity ("Lease Fiance LLC Fraudelent Billing/Accounting Actions") has been left standing for over 30 hours.
I'm not calling "unfair" because I admit I goofed up (albeit without knowing). I'm simply saying that removal of content appears random.
If you Google the f-word on planetfeedback, you get 72 hits. 53 hits for the s-word. And a small handful of that most-offensive c-word.
True, some are in the free-for-all "user blog" section. But certainly not all.
I will assume that someone complained about my use of a URL (for a well known company that was the subject of the OP's letter) and that no one has notified you about the letters/comments filled with racism, sexism, anti-antisemitism, and profanity.
So, I'd like to reiterate my suggestion (that Pete apparently liked) of having some mechanism for having content (be it a comment or a letter) that's offensive or otherwise troublesome. It need not be as complex as my bluesky proposal. But it should also not be allow for capriciousness.

I suggest you remove the members/posters who repeatedly insult and attack other posters. It really ruins the productivity of these site.
Understand, not the occasional rude comment but I see a few of the same names on every one of the top 20 shared letters, I read. The post inappropriate comments 98% of the time. It makes me dissinterested in spending time on this site.
Thanks for reading.

The "Pictures of the filth served as food to customers in Memphis" letter at first had a link to a personal photo website. Eventually, the link was deleted. This happened in another letter recently as well.
I'm just curious so whether this is against a PFB letter policy or something. If so, perhaps the letter-writing process could contain verbage to that effect?
I know that at one site at which I hang out, no links are allowed because that's the deal the site owners made with the advertisers -- so no one could post a link that competes against the advertisers on the site. (Makes sense to me!)
I'm just curious. THank you!

One was the recent drycleaning letter and the other was the "Do the employees think it's Happy Hour?" letter.
I don't remember anything particularly vitriolic (I hope I"m using that word correctly). I'm just curious as to why they were deleted -- they were on the site later last night (11 p.m. or so?) and this morning they were gone.
Thanks!

I have noticed the new survey function on a couple of the letters, and I think it's super cool. I just have one question. When I fill out the survey and click the button to submit, I am directed to the surveymonkey.com page and I can't find an easy way to get back to PFB other than using my bookmark. Is there a "go back to PFB" link that I'm missing? If not, no big deal, but it would make life that teensy bit easier. It just seems like that pushes traffic away from the site, which may not be the intent.
Love the new stuff, by the way!

I have a question. I know that you have the responses from companies that responded to the OP's letters, and I like that. They are letters that the OP's got the help they were looking for, but do you have responses from the companies that weren't so favorable, that didn't give the OP's the answers they were looking for or denied them there requests, as outlandish as some may be?

I recently visited Mervyn's in Porterville and friendly they are not. I was very displeased as I stood in line to pay for a half hour then was told very rudely to go stand in another line because now they were closed. So once again I had to stand in line for another half an hour which now I was very angry because I was dealing with another rude employee. This is ridiculous because us as customers go to stores to shop not be treated unfairly. One thing they got to realize is they are lucky to have our business because there are other stores who would gladly take our money with a smile. Whatever happen to CUSTOMERS SATISFACTION IS NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. I don't see them with my business any time soon which is a shame because I went there almost every day.

Is it a sign of things to come in '08?
I just wrote a letter, and instead of losing it when I was timed out, I was able to sign in. I hope it wasn't a fluke because losing a letter is one of the most frustrating things on PFB.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that this problem has now been fixed.

I would like to institute a holiday truce if you will from today December 22 to wendsday december 26, I want to see no flaming of the OPs no matter how ridiculous the request is.
Also this is two fold and I wish for this to be a permanent thing. I see alot of seniors on here writing grammaticlaly incorrect letters and in all caps. Lots of these oldsters don't have a PC at home, and rely on the library or senior center for internet acess. So possibly they are not very internet inclined, and are getting less than stellar help from the librarians or Aids. Don't flame the old people anymore just for grammer...they are people too.

Upon completion of the complaint,
PlanetFeedback gives choices where to send the complaint to. (Planetfeedback then forwards this complaint to the company).
This email address is no longer good & will not reach the intended party.
address = Resolution@amazon.com
I chose it for planetfeedback submission, now how can I choose another from the popup list ? And resend the original complaint to a different chosen email address ?
Or does one have open a NEW complaint to make this possible ?

I don't know if your team has seen my comment on a sears feedback letter. I think I know why people are coming to this site for sears feedback. Please view my comment in the link below for further information. You should go through the comments on the link that I provided on the following letter so you can remove personal information that people have accidentally posted.

I just signed up here about 2 days ago and I am disgusted with the replies of negativity. Do you all even monitor the comments? Do you monitor the profiles. I have been reading the suggestions and I see I am not the only one who feels this way. If you all continue to let this happen, ie not deleting profiles of people who push negativity, your site will not serve it's purpose or mission anymore. Soon the only people remaining will be the ones who have nothing to say and companies will see this site as a joke. If that is what you want...continue to ignore those profile users who seek to do no good to anyone.
I will be closing my account. This is a waste of time. I would rather call the company and argue with customer service than argue with people who do not even get paid to argue the companies case. I wish I could get free help like that. I really need a good maid around my house.

I have a request to make of the PlanetFeedback administrators.
http://www.planetfeedback.com/index.php?level2=account_public&user_id= 658813
I'd like to know if the above linked profile of a Wayne Cuffley shares an IP address with the commentator who calls himself Cletus Johnson. If so, I have reason to believe that the person behind both of these profiles is attempting to intimidate me by sending me emails at my personal email address, which I have never shared on this website and is only available from my personal website, which is linked to from my profile.
He has been saying for a long time that this website is only a game to him. I no longer wish to play this game. The comments and statements I make on this site are limited to this site only, and I have no desire to have any commenters on this site crossing over into my personal life without my expressed permission. I do not want him to email me ever again, I do not want him visiting my website, and I no longer wish to have any contact with him on this website. He has crossed the line of decency.

Wasn't sure where else to put this, so I'm trying it here.
To everyone who I've considered to be a wonderful part of my day-to-day life, I want to thank you. It's been almost 7 years that I've been a member of this community and I consider many of you to be almost family to me. I love and respect you all.
It's time for me to move on.
I've never been one to storm off in a huff, as many of us have in the past, and frankly, I've never even been tempted to before now. But when it gets to the point that you dread going to a place that you once loved so much, you get to realize that it's time to say goodbye.
I can still be reached at my email and on my myspace page, and I'd be happy to remain in contact with (most of) you guys.
firebrat1229@gmail.com
www.myspace.com/firebrat1229
I'll also remain a proud member of mommage, for as long as I am able. Moms, check it out sometime. It's a great site!
Here's to hoping PFB can one day return to the spirit in which it was intended.
Peace out,
Tracy

I find the point of this web site very useful, I have had a few companies respond to my post and I value their custome service.
I don't vette my letters through lawyers or PHDs, I simply write letters the way I would like to receive letters. I imagine a customer service rep reading hundreds of letters a day, and I like to think mine stand out as informative, yet slightly out of the ordinary. I find this is a good way to get results and get noticed.
I also like to write lots of letters, I did so in the past using stamps and letters and I will continue in the future using the internet.
The administrators of this site provide a great service.
To those that don't like my post, I'm Sorry, but they were not written to you. Take a look at them though and you will see that every one of them is constructive and communicates a real concern.
By the way, I am not an idiot, but I take no offense to being called one.

Don't know if this is a suggestion so much as a comment but due to the new facetious atmosphere of the site, I no longer recommend the site to anyone I know. Before you turn around and point out that the letters are in the top because of the "regulars"... they have done all they can do to stop posting to a certain person who has made it their mission to make a laughing stock out of the site. He then started to push his own letters into the top just by posting in them over and over again. Then this person came up with other screen names or recruited friends to post more asinine letters to get attention.
Hasn't this gone far enough? It is to the point I rarely read the letters anymore and mostly visit the blogs. Since I talk to almost everyone that matters off the site, I don't know how much longer I'll bother doing that. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way...
The letters going through this site lately reflect poorly on it.

I am so fed up with this poor excuse of a website! Please allow me to vent!
First, to you "regulars" please don't attack me and tell me I should have contacted PF admin privately. I tried! THREE WEEKS ago I sent two polite messages to them. I was completely IGNORED.
So with that said, here are my complaints.
1. FIX THE SITE ALREADY! I constantly get the following error message:
Sorry, the requested page is not available.
Click here to return to the home page.
How incompetent are you people? Fix your site! And if you're doing regular and frequent maintanance, be PROFESSIONAL and give your members the COURTESY of an advance notice.
My other complaint is that the administration plays favorites. You let idiots like Cletus make a laughing stock of the site and let other people-we all know who-flagrantly IGNORE the "No one under 14 can register" rule. It is the height of unprofessionalism to play favorites and allow certain people to break the rules. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Vent over.

I was just wondering if all of these Hogan letters are really from different people or if they are just one person with multiple personalities. They all seem to be the written the same way, even some words are constantly misspelled the same way throughout all the letters. If they are from the same person they are flooding the site and cannot be a good thing. I get about 35 letters in about 4 hours through RSS feed and over half of them are to Polaroid about Paul Hogan. I think there have been 30+ in the past 2-3 days. I replied to one letter asking this and the poster was very rude, it was only a question.

There is something that needs to be done with "Clete", Cletus or his alter ego Fred Flintstone.
Seriously, he is making a mockery of this site and needs to be banned. Pretty soon all the companies he writes to are going to not take any more letters from here.
If he wants humor, make his own blog or something. This is not his own personal comedy stage.
And shame on Planet FeedBack for actually listeing his letters where they are noticed and commented on thus fueling his idiocy.

The address is from postmaster@iscgms.com

The TOS for this site clearly states you must be 14 or over to be here. Why then are PF staff ignoring that and letting 10 year olds here? Not only is he rude and wasting time and bandwith with stupid letters, but some of the subject matter dealt with in letters is very adult. I am also quite sure most members are sick and tired of having to explain everything to him. Please abide by your own policy and get rid of the kids!

I mean some of them are just terrible not many but a few are. For example there was one that all caps which I don't think is the proper way to write a letter. Also J.D the person that typed that letter did not like our opinions and told us not to post in his letter so I have a few questions.
1. If someone asks you not to reply to their letters do you have to listen? Because J. D said that his letter is not our business. But he shared the letter and was just hoping everyone would agree with him. I think that if you share a letter you then you should not get mad at people and call them names if you don't like their replys.
2. For letters that have many mistakes like that one to Wal-Mart complaining that his shirt ripped, do you actually correct the letters or do you send them as is, or a third opinion do you not send the letter at all until it atleast looks half decent?

There should be a way for those with accounts to be able to let someone know that they have been mentioned in their blog.

I have a question.
In my profile, there is an option to view all comments, but not all letters. Is there a way for other people to view all the letters written by the owner of the profile?

Today is my first time on the webpage and I am finding it very hard to navigate and find things that I am looking for.
You need to make the page user-friendly.

Hello, I was wondering if there could be a generic 'find a compliment' link that would list them for any company. I know you can search for a company and specify a compliment, but I think it be nice to have a general compliment link. Maybe like what is now in the 'Fun with Shared Letters' portion on the homepage?
Thanks!
P.S. Go Compliment Week!

I will like automatic spell check. If not possible be able to copy and paste.
Also, I remember that there was a link to resend a letter that has not received a response, I don't see it anymore. Can you please reinstate this option. Also, I don't see how to edit a letter if you received an answer from a company.

Your website has become confusing. When you do a search for a company you can not find the one you searched for, but you do find a lot of messages about companies you had no interest in to begin with. In the old days you entered a company name, the site confirmed who you were talking about and showed you feedback for that company. Today I did a search for Village Inn and found a whole list of company feedback for other companies with the word village in it such as Terry's Village, Village Modems...ect. Whatever upgrade you have applied to make this better, go back to the old way it was a whole lot simpler..

Once again I've read several letters today which were pretty well written until the last paragraph -- the one which tells the company what the letter writer would like to see done.
Just get rid of the prompt "Based on this, here's what I would like 'Company X' to do" and the requirement that the letter writer put something in it to proceed. I myself have simply just put a period in the box and when I went to edit it I simply deleted it. But I bet the majority of letter writers don't think or don't know that they can to it this way.
If the letter writer is even half-way intelligent and wants something done they'll put it in the letter without a prompt. If they don't want anything done (i.e. they just want to vent) at least the letter writer won't feel forced into writing something that a lot of times sounds dumb.

Hello, I am 56 years old, employed full time
at the same job for the last nine years. This is not an ordinary experience for me as I do not usually write emails to people asking for help but this is one time I am in great need and I am resorting to the net for resources that will help me find resolution with my problem.
I was met with some unexpected circumstances a few months back and found it necessary to trade in a vehicle in order to get more reliable transportation. A dealership in Ohio invited me to their showroom and I purchased a van. This was my first time ever to purchase a car out of the state of Michigan. The dealership gave me no options as to what vehicle I could purchase. I was presented with a Dodge Van, taken for a test drive gave a bumper to bumper description and landed at the desk of the finance administrator. They were very typical of any sales transaction; a price would be suggested, and then negotiated with the manager then back to me.
Because I had a balance on my trade in I expected my payment to be a little more than normal. I thought I covered all the bases by asking all the questions that I thought to be important. I asked about how I would go about changing the title from Ohio to Michigan and was told that it was an option. I would have to go to the Secretary of State and register the vehicle and get my plates established with a Michigan tag but that the title was optional. I took his word for it after all he was giving me all the details of the transaction as we went along. At the time of the purchase I thought my transaction included tax costs for Ohio, it wasn't until I returned home and tried to register the vehicle with the SOS that I had to pay the Michigan tax and register the van including the title which came to 1500.00.
Of course I didn't have the funds to pay the SOS that day. I told the representative that I made the transaction in Ohio and thought taxes were paid thru the transaction of the loan. She informed me that I wasn't charged a Ohio tax because on the title it had NR typed in for non resident. I didn't know that nor would I have guessed that NR stood for non resident.
I had to leave and tell her that I would have to come up with the funds. I called the dealership and asked why I wasn't made aware of the NR and the whole tax thing.
Why I even bothered I don't know because they said they told me at the time of... I'm sorry but they didn't and my son (23) is my witness he was with me throughout the whole process.
In April I had to have eye surgery something I didn't expect and I had out of pocket costs plus I lost a whole week of work. I contacted CPS and told them in advance that I had surgery and I would be late in making the April payment. The representative sounded fair and understanding and said ok, however shortly after that the phone calls started on my phone, and I overly explained the circumstances and who I spoke with, at work - early morning and I work for a religious community that should not have to be subject to rude and invasive telephone calls.
They would not stop until I sent in some form of payment which was my first pay check after I returned to work. That left me with nothing for the remainder of the week and as soon as they received the payment they began to call about the next. Because of the time frame when I was off the next payment for May came due shortly after that. I had to pay my rent which is 900 and again I explained the circumstances I was under and would fulfill my obligation to them ASAP.
I was only one payment behind and you would have thought I was six payments behind and choosing not to do anything about it. The car payment itself is 600.00 - so between my rent due the first and the car payment due the 12th - I need at least 1500 on hand to cover both costs. My budget was okay until I was hit with Michigan taxes and
surgery.
As it stands the car still is not registered in Michigan because the 1,000.00 dollars I was saving to accomplish that was used to make a payment in a half on the van or else they were going to send a driver to pick it up. I have tickets now and I have never been in such demanding circumstances as I am now with this finance
company.
Before this purchase I never heard of CPS and I did go to their web site and look it over after I knew they would be doing the financing but it wasn't until now that I discovered numerous incident reports and then discovered that they have an F rating with the BBB. Before I go any further I want to say that I took what measures I thought I could within my reach to ask the Michigan SOS
treasury in Lansing if I could set up a payment for the taxes and was turned down. I emailed Terry Lind the head of the SOS and she also turned me down for installment payments.
I went back to the SOS to see if they would accept some type of payment plan and again no was the answer. I wrote to the Attorney General and our Governor. I am really over my head now because I have been ticketed, my license is suspended and fines are due and trying to pay. I have no family resources to fall back on and feel like I was taken for the biggest ride ever by both the dealership and CPS. The payoff for this vehicle, a Grand Dodge Caravan 2006 is 24,000 and out of curiosity I had it appraised for a trade-in and the dealership quoted me 10,000 which leaves 14,000 negative balance, so I couldn't trade it in if I wanted to.
I realize that as an adult I have my own responsibilities within all of this however with all things considered I never thought that the outcome of all of this would be so extreme. Any type of major purchase is very stressful and when you think you covered all the bases and find out later you didn't it is even worse. I would be very grateful if you anyone could help or suggest something that will address these issues or if there is a way of getting out of the loan and then seeking auto financing Michigan without all the intimidation. Even with a repo, bankruptcy or bad credit I think I would still be further ahead - what happened to me probably happens to someone everyday somewhere and it is unfortunate.
Thank you in advance for your time.

I just posted a compliment that I thought I agreed to share publicly, but when the summary appeared at the end, it indicated that the letter was NOT shared. I suggest that you show this summary page before finalizing the communication to give the writer a chance to review and accept or change the details.

There should be a way for a PFB user to delete unwanted and/or offensive comments, as well as removing old sent letters from their accounts. I've got a couple of rather controversial letters on my account that have an unvelieveable number of comments, most of which are not supporting my letter and just bash me and the other commenters.

I handle marketing for a web retailer, and just learned of your site. I really like the idea of being able to send organic and direct customers to a rating site that is not affiliated with a comparison shopping engine.
I am concerned that the tone of the site seems overwhelmingly oriented towards complaints. At this time, I would definitely not send them to your home page. However, if your rating page is encourages objectivity and balance, it could be a great resource for us. I'm looking forward to seeing the rating page when it becomes active.

I know I've mentioned this before, but it's worth saying again. The more letters I read, the more I'm convinced that one of the reasons some people make a demand at the end of their letter, sometimes even spoiling an otherwise good letter, is because of the section in the letter generator that asks what you want the company to do. People either think they're required to put something in there, or it puts the idea in their heads even if they had no intention of asking for something in the first place. It's not true in all instances, but I think a good number of letter writers end up asking for something just because they're asked.
Now, I could be completely wrong about this, but I could also be right. Pay attention to the last paragraph of some letters and see what you think.
So I guess my suggestion would be to eliminate that section of the letter generator, if possible, and see if it makes any difference. It might help to eliminate some of the crazy demands people make, almost as an afterthought, at the end of the letter.

There should be a way for us to provide an update to our complaints. For instance, I have not received any email from a company that I have sent a complaint to. Another company sent me an email "thanking me for my feedback" - I sent a complaint, not feedback! As a consumer, I want to be aware of those companies who listen to consumers and work at correcting the bad service given to consumers.

I looked all over and couldn't find this on your site. It would be nice to have a search feature by company name to read/research other's experiences with a certain company. I have a horrible experience with non existance customer experience with GE and I want to see how many others have had the same problem.

Could you provide a way for an offending company to contact a person who posts an issue on this site, short of replying to a comment? A company that wants to address a problem is not always willing to post a contact number or e-mail address on a public site, to avoid creating a "back-door help desk."
I've worked for more than one company that monitors this site and I think they would gladly reach out to help consumers if it can be done one-to-one. I'm thinking of a personal message feature like those available on many online forums.
You provide a valuable service and I think this could make it more valuable. In fact, you would be inviting companies to put their money where there mouth is by removing an excuse not to act.

I have seen a few people complain that they felt pressured by the "time limit" while writing their letters. I'm sure you've noticed that, if you take longer than 15 minutes or so to enter your letter, the server seems to time out and prompts you to log back in effectively trashing your letter. Some people on the site have written and submitted letters with useful details missing, because of this.
I'm sure that if you could fix that you would, but it might be helpful to point out the time out period and suggest that the letter writer select and copy their letter before hitting post, just in case. That's what I do, and it's never yet failed me. Also, I know that the formatting in Word makes it problematic to copy straight from Word, but will copying from a .txt program like Notepad have the same problems? That way, people could draft their letters at their leisure, without fear of losing it when they hit post. Just a thought. :)

I'm going to again plead my case to add a rule to the TOS that only a maximum of two accounts per household and/or ISP address be allowed.
Seriously, other than possibly a husband and wife having two accounts and using the same computer, I can see no legitimate reason for one person to need more than two accounts. I have yet to see a person who has more than one (possibly two) accounts that uses it for any reason other than to inflame, harass and incite other posters.
Has the Poetry-Babe (and her names), katzeyes (and her names) taught us a lesson at all?
Please, PFB management - I implore you....PLEASE consider this.
It seems to me that it would benefit you as well, because it would cut down on the drama that you ultimately get pulled into.
I'm not going to take the liberty of speaking for anyone here except myself, but suffice it to say that I am one of many, MANY people who strongly feel that this a TOS adjustment that should be considered.

Excellent idea! Right on top of the home page where you'd have to be blind not to see it! (No offense to blind people.) I just couldn't seem to remember to check ShopperCast and the Letter Writing Help blogs on a daily basis. This is a great reminder. Thanks!
Also, while I'm here, I would like to suggest that more people remember to post company responses in the section under PFB Insider. It's a good central place for everyone to check on companies, and it's a valuable part of the site.

I have had it with this site. The people that run it are lazy and inept and couldn't care less about the flamers, the personal attacks, or the cliques. What started as an amazing resource for consumers has turned into an exclusive club for a few hateful and snotty people who think they are better than everyone else. The staff can't even be bothered to update the 15 Minutes of Fame regularly anymore and refuse to do simple things like fix an url so all the links to the Suggestion Box go to the current one. I'm fed up and I am far from the only one. Planet Feedback is nothing but garbage. Goodbye and Good Riddance!
