was at my in laws house on saturday 3/10/07,we all decided to order out and we choose the chilis in rosemont,il. we ordered 2 mushroom burgers with fries,a chicken fajitas and also the steak and mushroom. we picked it up and brought it home we only live about 5 mins away from there when we brought it home everything was cold. first of all the steak and mushrooms there was hardly no steak and a half of a mushroom but there was about a pound of onions, the chicken fajitas there were about 4 pieces of green pepper and a pound of onions. the 2 mushroom and swiss burgers we cold. this was the first time that we all ate at a chilis and i beleive it might be the last time we do. i hope that you dont serve food like that always.

you tell me what you are going to do for us to keep us as a customer.

I'm not going to join in on the grammar-bashing, but a better-written
letter would probably receive a better response from Chili's.

I agree with the others who said you should have complained then. That
being said I don't recomend Chilis to anyone. Infact I tell people to
stay away from there. I used to eat a Chilis alot and the food was
okay and the service was decent but both could have been better. Then
the service and the food both slowly got worse. We complained and were
told it would be taken care of and even given gift cards to come back
and try again. We tried again and it was worse, finally we gave up
trying to get them to fix the problems and started going other places
instead. Even with that experience I would still say that you should
have called the manager and you should give them another chance.

I agree with the others who have said that the best time to confront
issues such as these is right then and there with the manager. At
least give the restaurant you used a chance to make up for their
mistake before going to corporate.

how long did it take you to pick up the food. did you go at the quoted
time, or were you late. that can explain why your food was cold.

Jenny,

While I sympathize that it appears you got a bad meal, the way you
wrote this letter is far worse than that mushroom and HEAVY onion
burger could have been.

When you write a letter like this to a company, it says, "I didn't
really care enough about the bad service to write a decent,
professional looking and sounding letter - I just want freebies."

I have to question how long the food sat in the window (i.e. between
the time you called it in and the time you actually got there to pick
it up.) If you are truly only 5 minutes away, it would have been
difficult for this to happen.

And the last line cops some serious attitude for someone who wasn't
even concerned enough to bother to take the issue up with the site
when she was only 5 minutes away.

Also, if you are willing to write off a restaurant over one bad visit,
you surely don't deserve any freebies.

Horrible, horrible letter. Capitalization is a good thing, Jenny. So
is punctuation, and so is grammar.

I normally don't pick on things like that, because all of us make
simple mistakes when typing. However, when a business letter is
written the way yours is written, one can't help but point out all
that is wrong with it.

"A pound of onions"?
"..there was hardly no steak"?

You tell ME what you are going to do for US to keep us reading any
other letter you might post.

I see. You've already gotten your pound of onions, and now you want
your pound of flesh.

Reply

by donno Posted Thu March 15, 2007 @ 12:35 AM

That is one heap of onions. Are yuo sure it was a pound? Now there
were two mushroom burgers. Do you mean each burger had a half a
mushorrom on it, or was there a half a mushroom on one and none on the
other?

This is the first time you all went to Chili's? Were any of you there
previously in smaller groups? Was the experience any better?

You may have a valid complaint, but gosh it is hard to read your
letter.

Finally, if you live 5 min away, why on earth did you not go back and
throw you food in a manger's face?

e.e.cummings is one of my favorite poets but i wouldn't try to emulate
his style. why? i'm not a poet.

I can relate to being disappointed with the quality and quantity of
the food order you received, but, as others have stated, the location
isn't too far and would it have been possible to bag everything back
up and explain it to a living, breatheing manager?

And you really should try to look at your letter from the reader's
point of view. Plenty of lower case letters, typo's, grammatical
errors, etc only takes away from the issues being discussed.

Your complaint is exaggerated, not particularly well stated, and a
mess, in terms of capitalization and sentence structure.

I have to agree with the other posters as well--you should have driven
back, or immediately called the restaurant and asked them to rectify
the situation. You could have asked to have the food re-made, or to
have the bill refunded on spot. This is not something that should be
addressed later, but rather should be brought up immediately so they
have a chance to SEE what they did wrong, and to fix it.

Some time ago, there was a magic thing invented. Its called a
microwave! *dun dun duuuuunnnn!*

Seriously, you only live 5 min away, why not go back and say
something, or at least call and speak to a manager?

Oh, BTW, Ill take some of those onion. I

seriously, i agree with everyone here - you have a problem? call back
and since you only live 5 min away, you're lucky and can return!

earth to you - chili's doesn't need to do anything to keep you as a
customer, they have plenty of monkeys.

Why didn't you check your food before you left? If you would have,
you could have fixed the situation right them.

by Quasi_Mondo Posted Tue March 13, 2007 @ 2:29 PM

I've had Chili's more times than I can count and the food is always
great.

My solution to this problem would be for you to decide what you would
have done if there was no internet and no Planet Feedback.
Wow. How did we handle complaints back in the day?

If you can't do the simplest thing (and the RIGHT thing) and phone the
manager when you discover your bad food, then you don't deserve
anything at all from Chili's.

And hypberbole helps your argument ZERO. "a pound" of onions? I
doubt it.

And what did your inlaws say? Had they eaten there before? Did they
comment on this being a freak incident? Because they live only 5
minutes away, I'm guessing they've eaten there and had a good
impression, which is why they chose to order from there while you were
visiting.

All you had to do was pick up the phone, call the restaurant, ask for
the manager, express your displeasure and ask for a resolution.
