Please ignore this complaint, the incident was resolved and for you who were wondering I did not go to the bathroom until after I followed this gentleman, also I now realize asking for freebies is stupid, but who doesn't love a free taco here and there?

I totally agreed with your letter until I saw the sentence "I would like some kind of gift card or certificate for noticing this problem." Why do you think you need a gift card?! You're just trying to get freebies. Taco Bell won't take this complaint seriously with that last sentence.

Have you ever heard of "doing good, for good's sakes?"
Anyway.. why, I wonder, would you want a for a restaurant that you have personally OBSERVED with such bad hygiene?? hmmmmmmm .. Do you really think that folks who have such bad habits would change overnight..just cause you wrote a letter?
ewww.. I cringe to think about what other things they do that you didn't see!

You had no reason to get a gift card as compensation for what you saw and did. Maybe, a letter of compliment from the TB and a friendly thank you from management, but no gift card.

I think you are right to complain but you certainly don't have the right to ask for a gift card. It would be nice if they sent you one but it's pretty rude to ask for it.

We are all out of gift cards, and a silver star seems more appropriate for what you did.

So the employee was walking out as you were walking in. By the time you finished the employee could have washed his hands 8 times before you saw him again. Are you saying you went into the bathroom, sparked up a conversation with the guy and followed the him right back out? Stalker.

You had me right up to the freebie.
One more thing. What location is this? There are an awful lot of Taco Bells, you know.

There is something very funny about this story. First of all how did you get into Taco Bell's kitchen. Customers are not allowed in there. Second of all, if this incident disgusted you why do you want free food from them. Why do you want food from someone that uses the washroom and does not wash your hands. Did this really happen or are you looking for a free handout.

There is no excuse for not washing your hands after using the bathroom, particularly if you are handling food. There is no excuse for the manager blowing the incident off and there is NO, repeat, NO excuse for whining for freebies just for pointing this out.

Well urine is sterile so if any happened upon his hands your safe. The part of his body that he touched was presumably washed and sealed away in his pants all day so if anything his hands got that part dirty. As mentioned in another post, you ate the food then asked for give always. Case closed.

Lets break it down:
~Went to Taco Bell.
~Got food.
~Went to restroom and observed employee exiting
without washing hands.
~Confronted employee and manager about disgusting,
'dastardly' behavior.
~Ate food (presumably)
~Went home to report disgusting behavior to corporate and asks for freebies.
See the problem here, William? Your integrity took a serious nose-dive when you claim to have been repulsed and disgusted, but not so much that you didn't throw away your food and demand a refund. Which, by the way, is what I would have done.
Then, to further erode your credibility, while relating your 'dastardly deeds' story to corporate, you ask for freebies.
My question is this: Why, if you're truly as repulsed as you claim to be, would you want to eat there again?

I guess I need to go set up shop down at the local Taco Bell. Turns out if you ever witness an employee doing something wrong, you get free prizes!
Hooray! Free stuff for complaining! God bless America!

i work at taco bell here in missouri and i wash my hands in the bathroom and if i'm making the food i will wash again in the kitchen. but my funny story is one day i was on front counter. i was sweeping the dining room and a man came in so i went over to the register to take his order. he said aren't you gonna wash your hands? and i said sir i don't touch the food and touching money that's been to hell and back is a lot worse than touching a broom. he just gave me a dirty look. and then he stole a huge cup from me. that guy was a jerk.

I hear that a high percentage of employees are found to not wash their hands after using the bathroom. It is gross. But then you still want to eat there so apparently it isn't as gross as you thought at first.

Everybody already said it, the freebie grab's just you being greedy.
Aside from that, issues of cleanliness is just one of the many reasons I avoid Taco Bell (aside from the food, of course). Employees in all restaurants need to take a little more time, and managers need to crack down on it.
Through my strong will, I shall resist a rat-related Taco Bell joke...

Good letter...right up until the grab for Freebies. Sorry, this shoots your credibility out the window. I'm sure if this really happened, it is not the first time nor the last that this and other employees didn't wash their hands. It is a risk you take when you eat out anywhere.
By the way, if Dick Dastardly worked there, do you think they would hire Mutley too?

pity... when I read that there were "dasterdly actons", I expected to find that a villian with a mustache had tied poor Nell to the railroad tracks. But it turned out to be just another freebie grab.... life can be so disappointing....

The freebie grab did have me annoyed as well. The first thing that makes me wonder about this story is that the person was "walking into the restroom" when he noticed the employee walk away from a urinal and not wash his hands.
The person confronted the employee about washing his hands, and when given a reply, didn't goto the bathroom or wash his hands, or whatever he had come into the restroom to do, but instead followed the employee back out into the restaurant and watched him go into the kitchen and back to work.
So, either the person just goes into bathrooms for no reason, or they let the employee out of their sight for the duration of time they were in the restroom doing their business, and so their story is suspect and most likely just a grab to get free food.

the only reason I asked for a freebie is because I love taco bell so much, a bit of follow up, that employee was fired, and in the personal letter to taco bell corporation I included names and places, but if you ever posted before you would know you cannot include names on planet feedback.

The freebie grab aside (you're real classy, William!), you didn't tell HQ which Taco Bell you're complaining about, so they can't do a thing to help you. Other than give you free food. Which you'll get, I presume, at that same Taco Bell.
Yo quiero diarrhea?

A gift card because you reported that a worker didn't wash his hands after using the bathroom? Does anyone report anything for the good of all mankind anymore?
