Popeye's Chicken Kept us Waiting!!
Posted Wed March 28, 2007 12:00 pm, by Dawn S. written to Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits
Write a Letter to this Company
On 3/27/06, I went to Popeye's Chicken at XXXXXXXXX in Jacksonville FL, at approximately 7:00pm. It took 30 minutes for me to order and receive my food; checking my bag when I got to the car, I found I had not been given my biscuits; and, when I got home, I found I had been given spicy chicken, not the mild which I had ordered.
However - this is NOT a letter of complaint!!
Popeye's was busy when we arrived. There were about 4 cars in the drive-thru line so we decided to go inside. There, we were warned by the manager on duty, Brenda, that she was the only cashier there. She was working the register inside, had one employee filling the orders, and another employee was working in the kitchen.
To watch them work was amazing - Brenda flew back and forth between the counter and the drive-thru window, greeting each customer pleasantly and apologizing for their wait. Brenda was proactive in letting the man in the kitchen know that he needed to make more chicken, biscuits, etc., while he also kept up with requests for fries and sandwiches. The gentleman filling the orders did so quickly, moving on to the next slip as soon as the previous one had been taken care of.
At no time did any of the staff seem frustrated, irritated, or short-tempered with the customers. One woman in line stormed out after waiting 5 minutes, huffing "This is ridiculous!", but myself and the other 5 people in line waited patiently. I'm assuming, like myself, they felt that waiting was no big deal when they could see that Brenda and the other two employees were doing an incredibly efficient job with the limited resources available to them.
When I went back for the missing biscuits, they were given to me quickly, and with a smile. The spicy chicken was a hit with my family - they generally don't like spicy food, but recieving it by mistake gave them the opportunity to discover that this preference does not extend to Popeye's chicken!
I will not hesitate to visit this Popeye's location again. Brenda is a very valuable asset to your company.
Sincerely,
A VERY satisfied customer!

Wow... A letter of real understanding. of what a understaffed and overworked have to go thru.
The letter writer is a true gem and should be cloned for compassion and reality sessions for the rest of the general public..
This is the 1st time I've felt compelled to write something here that was negative due to a somebody wanting something for nothing, making unreasonable demands or just being stupid.
This young lady has made me smile and wish there was more like her.

Great, but if Popeye's reads this Brenda will probably be fired for not managing the staff and having the proper number of employees working at that time.

You get my award for best posting and understanding person of the year. I kept waiting for your letter to ask for something free, but you didn't. I'm glad that you're a parent. I'm sure you're bringing up children that will turn out to be very good citizens.
You are a breath of fresh air on this site which can get really, really nasty at times. Posters and repliers the same.
If I owned a company, I would love to have you as a customer. You rock lady!

Congratulations Dawn on turning a disastrous evening into a positive experience.
Not everyone is able to see that sometimes slow service isn't due to incompetence on the part of the employees, something as simple as someone calling in sick can throw the major wrench in the gears (is that the expression?) Anyway I'll bet when Brenda hears this compliment she'll be floating for days.

Good for the OP for recognizing the hard work of the employees that take their job seriously enough to show up for work.

Dawn, I have to say your letter just blew me away! It's refreshing to see someone putting themselves in other people's shoes and seeing that difficult times CAN be worked out with teamwork and a good attitude. I do hope they get a copy so they know their hard work was noticed and appreciated. While most people WOULD overlook things you mentioned and complain, You actually took the effort to commend good customer service under difficult conditions.
This letter embodies everything a good letter should include.
Excellent Job.
This one deserves an award!!

This is one of the best letters I have ever read on PFB. It contains great points that people need to understand. Brenda and the staff demonstrated the perfect attitude and behavior in a "crisis" situation, which allowed you to make a choice as to whether or not you wanted to stay and order or go elsewhere. And because you chose to stay, you really don't feel like you have the right to complain. It's perfect.
And I learned something from your letter. Popeye's has spicy chicken! My family (not me) loves spicy food, and we have been looking for an excuse to try the new Popeye's where we live. Thanks for the recommendation!

This is an excellent letter. (Is this DawnieDawn?) Just excellent. Thanks for taking the time to do this, Dawn. I hope you hear back from them. I also would suggest that you forward this letter directly to the restaurant so they can get the warm fuzzy feeling they deserve. Good job!
