Recognition of Same Sex unions.

Posted Fri April 6, 2007 10:28 pm, by Kenneth W. written to The Walt Disney Company

Write a Letter to this Company

I have just heard on our local ABC news broadcast that your company was changing its policy allowing gays or other same sex couples the same benefits as heterosexual couples in your theme parks and Disney Cruises. I am just old fashioned enough to think that his is somehow wrong for a company who was founded on wholesome family values. I assume that you are going to discontinue and drop this mantel in this regard?

I will not waste any more money on any thing associated with Disney Enterprises. I don't support this policy in any fashion. Sorry as I have been a Disney collector for many years and a faithful supporter in most all things Disney. This really hurts and I am very sad in that there are so many good things about the company to have it discolored in this way. I feel that the homosexual community has an agenta and you are a contributor to it.

I love the term "wholesome family vaules", because it implies that a
family can only consist of one man, one woman, and their biological
children.

My family consists of one man, another man, and their adopted child of
a different race (moi). I like to think I have a lot of values. I
would never do drugs or drink excessively. I do a lot of volunteer
work, which my parents have encouraged from an early age, and they
give quite a lot of money to charties that help with cancer, diabetes,
AIDS, and poverty.

You want to know the homosexual agenda? It's only got one item on it:
equality. The blacks wanted it a long time ago, and people didn't want
them to have it, but they got it. Gays have all the rights of
straights in Canada, and so far we haven't fallen into godless chaos
yet.

I support Disney for supporting same sex union. If Kenneth wants to
complain, he has every right to.

You're absolutely correct - - the homosexual community does have an
agenta (aka, agenda) and that is to be treated with as much respect as
heterosexual couples. I, for one, feel that this is well deserved and
long overdue.

By the way, I'm straight.

Instead of Mouse Ears, the kids get Adolf mustaches!

And instead of Mickey Mouse, they'd have 'Mickey Mengele'!

If WDW wants to support gay and lesbian rights, they have every right
to, just like you have every right not to visit there or complain
about them on this site for their support of gay and lesbian rights.

I've worked on litigation with Disney and followed Michael Eisner's
career for a bit, as I had a coworker who knew him and was a
consultant for in-house counsel at Disney. Disney has been giving
same-sex partners benefits for years now, in spite of an ongoing
boycott organized by Southern Baptists.

And yet you managed to muddle on through each day and survive, didn't
you? The Rapture didn't happen, the world didn't end, life went on.

You're a small person and I have nothing but pity and disdain for you.

why do people feel that just because they can't understand something,
there is an agenda?

i applaud disney for extending their benefits to the g/l community.
love does not see color, disability, age or gender. the g/l community
certainly couldn't do a worse job at marriage then heterosexual
couples have. "wholesome family values" have evolved over the years.
that term now includes single moms or dads, families who don't marry
but live committed and raise their children, men and women who never
have children, a mom and her mom raising one child, blended families,
families with adopted children... see where i'm going with this?

sorry to say it but disney is better off without you as a customer.
for every person who doesn't accept equal rights for homosexual
couples, i can show you 3 who do. you are welcome to have your
beliefs but you should also accept the beliefs of others.

Wow I think You're onto something BIG! I am amazed I never heard of
this before and I'm so happy you took the time and effort to step up
to the mike. Very courageous of you.

I don't recall Mickey and Minnie exchanging nuptuals so they're living
in sin. No one says a word.
I never saw Donald Duck with a wife,(makes one wonder) but he never
wears pants and hangs around with three nephews all the time. No one
says a word.
And that fairy Tinkerbelle! Dead Giveaway!!!

I'm sure there are many many more examples of the "gay agenda". Now we
can't take our kids to Disney land for fear that magic pixie dust will
make them gay. Can't watch ABC because they must broadcast
subliminally this gay agenda, again indoctrinating our children to Gay
Lifestyles.

Please research this further and post back. Perhaps drop the word
"ASSUME" from your letter because we all know what that means.

You know what I find surprising? That a gay couple would even want to
have a wedding at Disneyland.

If TV has taught me anything it's that gay men are extremly trendy and
cool in all ways and now some couple wants to come along and crush my
dreams by choosing to get married at Disneyland??

I do believe in total equality though so that should definitely extend
to tacky wedding ceremonies ;)*

*This post was ment in jest. No offence to anybody who wants to or has
already had a wedding at DL.

Welcome to the 21st Century. It's a shame you didn't bring along an
open mind

I am VERY old fashioned, but I know that "wholesome family values"
blossom and grow from love, compassion and understanding, and have
nothing to do with a person's gender.

I don't know why so many people have trouble understanding that.
