Very Dissatisfied Customer

We arrived at the Fern Valley Road Outback Restaurant and was given a pager. The lady said it would be 20 - 30 minutes for the wait. After 45 minutes and seeing numerous people go in that came after us, we stepped inside to see a couple of booths open with no one being paged for those booths. My husband spoke to another lady and she said that the next table/booth that came empty we could have a seat. After standing for another 20 minutes, we sat at a booth that had stayed empty. The lady came over all mad and ask our last name which we gave, but they did not take our name when they gave us the pager. She got really mad and everyone that could came up from the back and she told them something about us, because they stared at us the whole time. We were afraid that they may spit in our food or something, so we left.

Pay me the $75.00 that I gave for my gift cards and give us compensation for the 45 minute travel there to eat and possibly pay for my $24.00 dinner at Frisch's.

OK from a servers point of view. If I am running around trying to
handle the tables I have why would they seat me another table that
will get sub-par service???? We have a set amount of tables we are
allotted. Usually with consideration given to seniority, ability, and
proposed amount of business for the evening. IF U HAD BEEN SAT EARLIER
U WOULD HAVE BEEN JUST AS UPSET. To many siting at one time means the
kitchen gets overloaded, servers take to long for your drinks, order
of food, and much less the ability to give you a great experience. 1
or 2 tables unhappy is a better situation then an entire restaurant of
unhappy diners and more then likely comped or discounted food. Seating
yourself is always a way to make sure your server is not happy with
you. Final note. Imagine your job (no I dont know what you do) Triple
that and thats what it is like to have 3 tables sit at one time in
your section!!

Outback Steakhouses are usually very busy. The reason why? They offer
good food at great prices (compared to other steak houses),have
excellent customer service, are consistenly great quality wise and
those blooming onions are absolutely addictive. I don't mind the
wait.

I think I have a solution.... give the cards to people you really
really really HATE and hope their food gets spit upon. And gloat to
yourself that they "fell for it" Well worth the expense!!
Come to think of it, people must hate me, I got their gift card for my
birthday. The compensation for the drive and the compensation for
Frisch's will fall on deaf ears, trust me, you're publicly accusing
them of gossiping about you and spitting on food,in an indirect way.
What guarantee do you have that someone at Frisch's didn't spit in
your food? Maybe send a letter there too...it's worth a shot!

Another thing if you're waiting a long time a quick double check at
the desk is a good idea.

Sometimes the thingamajib they give you that lights up gets programemd
wrong. That happened to me at Cheesecake Factory.

We went up to the desk and they said "We paged you on the thingamajob
and you never came up"

They tested it and sure enough it was boobed.

So they gave us the next table.

Stupid customers like you are the reason qualified and friendly staff
is hard to find!! I've actually had customers at our family staffed
restuarant not understand that people that arrived after them recieved
their food first because they had called an hour in advance!

I don't know where to begin.
The people who were seated ahead of you likely had reservations or had
reserved tables.Perhaps someone had reserved the table you and your
husband took it upon yourselves to sit at.That was extremely rude of
you (not to mention presumptuous).
Outback doesn't owe you anything. If anything, you owe them an apology
for your rude and stupid behavior.

Every outback that i have been to usually is pretty busy. 45-60 minute
waits are not entirely uncommon during a busy night. If it was mothers
day then expect an even longer wait. I personally think the wait is
worth it, but I always plan ahead enough to do call-ahead seating.

Outback offers call-ahead seating, which usually cuts the wait time in
half. This is probably what the other guests that were seated before
you took advantage of. Or maybe they were seated in a different
section, not sure if your state is all non-smoking yet. Or maybe they
had different party sizes. Dont (ASS)ume things. What possible
motivation would a host/hostess have to seat others before you?

It was highly inappropriate for you to seat yourself after you were
told you would get the next available table. Let me stress that again,
VERY very rude.

You are not entitled to anything.

OK, waitaminit, let me see if I get this correct:

You stood there watching people go in and get seated before you that
had arrived after you? Could it be very possible they had
reservations, or were going to go sit at the bar, like they do let
people do while waiting for tables? Did you ask the host/hostess
about what was going on and why people were "allegedly" being seated
before you?

You were told that you would be seated at the next available table.
So, instead of talking to anyone, you decided to take it upon
yourselves to go seat yourselves at any random empty table? Did it
occur to you that the table might have been held for a larger party
that had reservations (again, there is that magical word) and were
arriving shortly? Perhaps that section's server was on break, or
maybe they were shorthanded and tried to limit the number of seated
tables. Again, did you even bother to ask?

Gee, the hostess (I assume) was mad. Ya think? If you wanted to go
to a place that you could just go seat and serve yourselves, I would
have recommended your local buffet.

Outrageous freebie grabs like the ones stated above are just bad form.
You didn't pay one red cent for anything, you didn't get anything,
what do they owe you, seriously? And who travels 45 min. just to eat
at a restaurant? Do you live out in the sticks somewhere? Only
reason I have ever traveled more than 20 min. at max is because I was
meeting friends there who lived closer by.

You didn't ask any questions, you just assumed. You just helped
yourself. "Perception is the most flawed form of fact-gathering there
is." Bottom line, you get zip. Thanks for playing. Hope you enjoyed
Frisch's.

Yeah, you just might get $75 for your gift cards, $24 for dinner at
another restaurant and compensation for your time....NOT!

The reason people who came in after you got seated is that they
probably called ahead and their name was on the list before you. You
had no right to sit in the booth until you were escorted by a hostess.

Ok - the last paragraph - you're kidding right?

I was, unfortunately, drinking diet coke when I read this. It's now on
my shirt.
