Pfizer, Travel Sized Bottles of Plax Rinse Should Be Smaller

Write a Letter to this Company
I would like to make a suggestion regarding one of your travel size products that I recently bought for a weekend trip.
Generally I like to use some kind of rinse for my mouth and so I've used much to my delight your product, Mint flavored Plax. When I recently was getting ready to make a weekend trip, I found Plax in a 4 oz bottle travel-sized. So I went ahead and bought it.
Anyway, when I got to the airport and had my luggage scanned in, the security guard warned me that the Plax bottle was 4 oz (since I had it with my carry-ons and I did not check anything in) and the most one can take with them on the plane is a 3 oz bottle. I was able to take it with me, however.
Here is what I am suggesting...take the travel sized Plax and reduce it to three ounces or less. I'm not going to stop buying the product as it has been very useful to me, but I may thnk twice before purchasing it for a future vacation.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I hope that you will take this into consideration for your future products.

Mike, you make an excellent suggestion. I think companies should be made aware of travel restrictions. I do know, also, they take away any unlabeled bottles...so if one was to put three ounces in...they have the right to confiscate it if anything looks suspicious. I was even thinking, while reading the letter, if it would be possible for them to somehow make the product in a powder form...but maybe it's not possible because of active ingredients and stability, quality control, etc.
I especially like that it's in the form of a suggestion more than a complaint. Great Letter!!!

You cannot have more than a 3 oz bottle of anything that you carry on. I think they base that on what it would take of the right ingrediants to mix up a solution on the airplane to make an explosive, but don't quote me on that.
Not only can it not be more than 3 oz, it cannot be more than a 3 oz bottle, though I think they let 3.5oz go through in most cases. For instance, I had a bottle of hair gel that was nearly empty. It had maybe an ounce in it at most, but because the bottle said 7 or 8 oz, they would not let me take it.
Now, an easy way to get around and follow this policy is to simply check your bags, which I typically do anyway because I tire of my fellow business travellers trying to stuff the world into the overhead bins. There are no restrictions on sizes for items packed in your carry-on.
With all that said, I think it would be a wonderful idea if the suppliers of travel sized items started making them in the 3oz or less range as much as possible. I can see that this could take awhile though as it would be a re-tooling of various bottle molders as well as re-tooling up the plants filling equipment to accept the new bottles. So maybe they are planning to do this already and are just waiting for normal "upgrade" times for each product to move to the new size.

Great idea. You'd think that the companies would move to make travel sizes of all liquid/gel products in security-compliant sizes.
