You know what lady, the men on their break were not being rude. They can actually loose their jobs for doing any work or customer service while on their break. That is walmart policy. I work for them so just chill out and it is not a big deal.

You tell me if this happened to you that you all would be just tickled pink just waiting and waiting
and those people on break I just found out did not
want to help, that was their excuse because they were
not on break, they just did not want to HELP now tell
me your reply. I was not rude to them either I nicely
asked for help and was ignored. I also all you know
at alls thanked many times the woman who did help me
and also told the manager that she was wonderful so
now whats your great smart alec response. were you
there?

I guess I understand your problem, but you need to give some more thought the next time you type out a complaint letter. Your letter gives me a headache just trying to read it! There are so many sentence fragments and run-ons. The last paragraph is just one long run-on sentence! If you want Wal-Mart to take your complaint seriously, then you need to type your letter out in complete sentences.

I don't believe I was being presumptious at all, the OP stated exactly 8 people came out of the back and said they were on their break. That is a poor work ethic. I stand with it, say it together, "I'm so sorry, I'm on break! Let me call and see if I can get someone to help you!" Now, time yourself, how long did that take? I do think it is bad work ethic, I understand Walmart takes a stand on things like this, from what one of the other posters said. But I would never let someone walk into any place I have worked and ask for help and then tell them that I couldn't help because I was on a break. So maybe you should rethink the self-absorbed comment. The biggest problem with this site is that so many people resort to insults.

show me where i my comments show i am "self absorbed". When you only get 20-30 minutes to go to you car, get lunch, come back and eat it too then i say its quite alright to tell a customer you're on your break. Plus, im assuming that the OP gave the employee attitude, and you get the respect that you give. You catch more flies with honey then... well you know the saying.
And i think people really forget how much work a retail employee really does. when i finally got out of retail, i think i did 10-15% of the amount of work i did, and about 5% of the stress. I think its disrespectful to ask an employee who is not on the clock to miss possibly half of their lunch break to do something you are perfectly able to do yourself.
I would say that calling employees "useless and rude" counts as name-calling. especially when a problem like this could be avoided if the employer was given a better payroll budget so they can keep the floor adequately staffed. THAT would be a valid complaint.

I used to work full-time retail, and it always seemed that as soon as I started walking to the breakroom, at least 10 people would stop me for help. Apparently I exuded some kind of "on a break" aroma that made people want to interrupt it. The problem was that I was usually on a strict time schedule, whether for lunch or otherwise, and even a few minutes on the floor meant a few minutes less for me to get a break.
However, I do agree that the least the employees could have done was called someone to help. That takes what, 30 seconds? When I was stopped on my way to a break, my usual response was, "I'm sorry; I'm actually on break right now. However, I'd be happy to get someone else to help you."

What in the world is up with the spacing? (it gave me a headache too!) But yea... its usually company policy for employees on break to BE on break.. what if they were to get hurt helping somehow? When I worked at Walgreens, I was supposed to stay in cosmetics 100% of the time during my shift (yea like THAT happened) and was supposed to call someone for other areas of the store (yea I know its not THAT big but ... yea) Companies have their policies.

When I worked in a large electronics store, complaints like these we VERY common. Mainly because we DID have designated departments that were we not supposed to stray from. Plus, I could tell you anything you needed to know about computers, but im just stupid when it comes to TVs or car stereo. Yes, departments should have the appropriate amount of employees, for the customers sake as well as the employees. Often times to cut costs, especially during the day employers dont staff the appropriate amount of people to work... it a no win situation for anyone!
Judging by the writing of this letter (and a few of your other letters) this seems like it was exaggerated.
however, its tasteless to complain about people on their well deserved breaks. No matter where you work, how much you make or what your position is, you deserve a break.
Walmart will never change. ever. as a company they care little for customers and even less for their employees. "if it wasnt for me and others there would not be any walmart for them to work." Quoted from you directly. Best advice, dont stand for it, stop shopping there.

I agree with PaintedLady. You have a valid complaint, except for the part about the people on break not helping. Those employees likely work VERY HARD for their breaks and are entitled to them.

I agree that you should have been helped sooner, but NOT from the employees on break. First of all, they deserve an uninterrupted break, and second, this is a firing offense (working "off the clock" in any way, shape or form) at many stores these days, and I'm sure you don't want causing someone to lose their job on your conscience...right?
