Well folks what is even more distressing is that our account was
closed because "we no longer offer that program". But yet they still
have internet sites to "Apply for the Card".

I think letters to the BBB and Attorney General are in order

These people are the worst. I lost my job and several of my credit
cards let me make smaller payments, gave me 0% interest for a year
with no late or overage fees. This gives me a chance to catch up and
still pay off my obligation. This card is adding more than I can pay
each month to my balance and refuse to help me. The more I pay the
more I owe. So, I'm going to stop paying!

account was closed, no reason or explanation. I'm still receiving
bills for membership fees! Membership fees for what?? My statement
shows no available balance/no available cash. Also, no phone # to

I have or should I say had this card. After never being late and
paying it off and continuing to pay their monthly charge on time every
month I received a letter saying they closed the account. No
explanation just closed the account. I haven't checked my credit
report yet but trying to figure out why they closed it.

by Lisa O Posted Tue October 21, 2008 @ 7:32 AM

Well how about this one. I received the card very quickly, had it for
about 8 months, never late, never over my limit.

I had to go into the hospital, so I called and asked if I could make
my payment earlier, they said okay. I made my payment, when I got
home from hospital, i had a postcard from them, I was thinking cool
they raised my limit again.

Nope, I got a letter saying the cancelled my card. Why, because I
paid them early and then the hit my card with the annual fee, which
took me 10 dollars over my limit.

The response I got after calling them and asked them why they closed
my account. He told me because they could, oh and then said have a
nice day.

I'm am filing a compliant aganist them, and hope no ones else takes
their card.

I have the Salute Visa Card. I paid my payment via money order two
weeks before the payment was due. I checked the ballance a few days
later. They had received my payment, credited it to my account, and
raised my credit limit from $70 to $100. I made a $74 purchase, and
afew days later received a card saying I was over my credit limit.
When I checked, I was told they attempted to take another payment from
my checking account; after payment had been received. This was
declined, so they tacked on $35 for a returned check fee. This put me
over my $100 credit limit, so they tacked on a $20 over the limit fee.
Trying to talk to these people is almost impossible, as they can not
speak clearly with their heavy accents. It took 4 phone calls and
several emails to get a manager to call me, only to be told this was
all my fault. This account is supposed to be closed, yet they are
still tacking on a monthly $20 fee. Think again if your considering
this credit card!

I have read most of the comments on here, and am very surprised.

I have had this card for several months. I received the card within
10 days of applying, after making the initial payment, of course. The
card came with a $70 available credit, I made payments on time and the
limit has raised $30 each month. Just like they said.

I have not had to deal with customer service, because I pay on time
and online, but isn't customer service with everyone foreigners these
days? I know when I call customer service at my own bank, I get
someone I can hardly understand... heck the people that run the gas
station hardly speaks english. That's just the world we live in today
and they are the only people willing to work for crap-pay and put up
with customers callng in and yelling at them all the time.

Apparently there have been several problems with the card....
obviously you all are complaining, but I like it... I have used it at
restraunts, gas stations, stores, etc and it works fine everywhere.

If you are looking to apply for one, though, that may be hard, I'm
trying to get my bf one and can't find anywhere to apply for it
anymore.

Good luck!

I have to laugh at the folks on here that say "You can't be mad at the
CC Company." Well wait until you try to close it!!!!

I paid it way higher than was asked. Then after a year I closed it. I
got a zero balance and "your account is closed."

THEN WHAT DID THEY DO??????????????????

They re-opened it, put back on the credit limit ALL AVAILABLE NOW OF
COURSE and have sent it to me EVERY MONTH SAYING I AM LATE WITH A
MAINTENCE FEE OF $6.00.

I called the BBB they are indeed located in Atlanta, HOWEVER, I have
written to their State Atty General, The FTC and my state's Attorney
General and advise them to start a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT. They will
not be in business much longer.

When I asked them to send a letter THAT IT WAS ALREADY CLOSED? I got a
letter saying, after threatening them with the FTC, Atty General et al
(they don't like those words) "we will no longer contact you about the
account." Did they ever say why THEY REOPENED A CLOSED ACCOUNT? Of
course not.

If you are crying you did not get their cards, I say, BE GRATEFUL!!

A word of forewarning, this company outsources to India when you get
behind even on one payment. The people who call and harass you have
such bad accents, I can't understand them mosttimes. This company will
not leave me alone. They keep calling my parents and asking if I am
home. My parents have told them countless times: 1.) He no longer
lives at this address, and 2.) Hehas his own phone number. My mother
asked how they got their phone number when I never gave the company
it. The man was rude and said something that angered my mother. Salute
Visa also has poted my payments late so the late fee and interest
pushed it well beyond the limit. Now they will not stop calling my
parents who are very angry. I would warn you not to get this card.

I happen to have this card and also an imagine card, and have never
ever had a problem with either of them. I make my payments and receive
credit limit increases just as they say. I think what you aren't
allowing time for is the fact that both of these cards have a 4.95
processing fee. That being said, they have to present it to your bank,
have your bank process it, and then post it to the account before they
even open it, and it clearly states this in the application. This is
to verify you have an open and active checking account. It states
right on the application that if it is returned by your bank that they
have the right to close the account. So I'm sure that is what was
taking so long. They aren't going to send you a card before they can
verify the payment has been processed........

I don't understand why someone would pay so much for a card that has
no benefit for them. I have very poor credit for learning lessons
(mistakes) which I have made in the past. I would not take this card.
The money you are going to pay for the card, you can put towards
something which is negative on your credit. This will help you slowly
improve your score.
I am not looking to insult anyone, I just wanted to give my opinion.

I just got the card. No problems and so far everything is just as
they represented it. The fact is I'm needing to get my credit back on
track and this is a decent start. I will be paying $269 in annual
fees plus 19% APR on the monthly balance. Alot of fees! But, I hope
this is just temporary, that is, for one or two years. If you don't
like the terms then don't agree to them. Americans today seem really
impatient and childish sometimes.

I have this card and it came in the mail pretty fast. I understand
about the high rates and low limits. But, If you are trying to get
your credit back together like me.Then you should just be happy
someone gave you a card. You should probably take some anger
management classes too. Then you wouldn't be so angry with your
credit.

I applied for the Salute Visa card as well. I had horrible credit due
to messing up big time with credit cards fresh out of high school. It
took me almost 8 years to pay off all my debt, and this was the first
offer i recieved.

I got the card about 5 days after i applied for it online. I made my
first payment like it asks.

Of course you are going to have a horrilbe interest rate, monthly fees
and an annual fee. These people are in it to make money and they
will. Especially if your the reason you have bad credit. The purpose
of the card is to HELP REPAIR YOUR CREDIT. They don't even have to
give you an account or a card.

If you are upset about the card, cancel it. Call the people at the
company. Request to have your information taken out of their system.
Check your credit. If it is on there, dispute it.

But a word to the wise.......don't talk to them the way you posted on
here. No one wants to be degrated or yelled at. And know that the
people you are cussing at or talking ugly to, are normal people who
are trying to do their jobs. Dont take your frustrations out on them.

First of all you should not complain about how long it takes to get
your card, ( it's not like there taking money from you and holding
onto the card) if having a credit card is so important to you then
try getting a real credit card that does not charge you and you start
with zero balance. You probably can't because your credit is shot so
just sit back and relax or when the card comes in the mail don't
acitvate it. Move on to another company or get a prepaid credit card
anybody can get one of them.

OK, I understand your frustration, Natasha. I don't know how you
talked to the customer service people, and while you should turn off
your caps, I do understand your plight. I applied for this card after
a bankruptcy to up my credit score. Yeah, it's got high fees and what
not, but when you have messed up credit, that's the price you pay to
get your credit back on track.

I applied for the card about a month ago, and got a letter in the mail
a couple of weeks ago that simply stated, "We erroneously declined
your application due to a computer error, but you have, in fact been
approved. Your card, as well as a welcome kit, will be in your mailbox
in a few days. Congratulations."

Well, it's been two weeks since I got that letter. I checked my credit
report a couple of days ago, and it's reporting to the bureau with a
179.00 balance. Yet I have no card/ account number! I just got off the
phone with their customer service, and the woman (who I could barely
understand, go figure) stated to me that my "application is still in
process". I said, "how can it still be in process? It's reporting to
the freaking credit bureau!" She was very nice, but told me nothing
more than "it's processing and I must wait a few days and call back
again."

I'm as frustrated as you are. I don't even know what to say, other
than the card is, most likely, crap.

Let me know if anything happens... I'll repost if I get my card.

I have a Salute Visa and got it relatively quickly. While I do
understand the frustration with not being able to get any straight
answers, I do strongly suggest that some of the language be corrected.
If you feel the company you are dealing with in not conductiong
themselves in a professinal manner, you should not then sink to their
level and make seemingly belligerent comments about them. That makes
you no better than the company. By writing a letter in this tone, you
are not making them feel as though they are losing a potentially
valuable customer. You can say the exact same thing in a totally
different way and still get your point across. You should try that
instead.

with getting that one either. As a matter of fact, I was able to call
the customer service center for both and find out when they were both
processed and mailed out. Then after I got them and made four on time
payments, I received a credit line increase on both cards.

I think you misunderstand where you're posting this. First, you
aren't talking to the credit card company on this site, you're posting
information for other consumers, hopefully, to warn or enlighten.
Since you fail to say WHAT credit card company and then address your
profanity-laced, shouting (all caps) remarks to the company, you fail
to really achieve your goal and we aren't warned about the company you
had problems with because you didn't tell us the company name. Was it

Never, ever, EVER EVER EVER apply for a card with an annual fee.

I got my first credit cards in college with relatively low limits. A
few years later I have several cards with a number of different banks,
all with reasonable interest rates and some with very high limits. On
no card, EVER, have I paid even a single dime of annual fee.

How did I do it? Am I a zillionaire? An international banking mogul?
No, I'm a smart and SELECTIVE shopper. I've seen all sorts of crappy
offers, just like everyone does, and I pass them up because I know
better offers exist. I don't just jump on the first thing that I
see.

Of course, if your credit is so ruinous that all you get are dubious
offers with nasty annual fees attached, you probably shouldn't have a
card at all until you get your other circumstances sorted out.

Those cards are for folks with horrible credit. The fees, like the
posters below indicated, are INSANE.

Assuming they do mail the card to you, you will have somewhere around
$50 to use. However, i think you have to make at least one payment
first. You will most likely also have a monthly usage charge.

It sounds like you want a card right now this second, basesd on the
way you wrote this letter.

Not gonna happen. and please, locate and disengage the caps lock

Have you really read the terms and conditions?$29.00 application fee,
$150!!!! yearly fee - $79 activation fee- when you get the card it
ALREADY has a balance of almost $260 on it. 29% interest on purchases
49% interest on cah advances - $5 fee for atm in addition to whatever
tshe bank charges, etc.etc, and VERY shady business practices- for
example - they will send the paper bill, and the day after they mail
the bill, they add finance charges, late charges, etc - so you will be
overlimit - which means another fee. do yourself a favor - pay cash.

You applied for credit two weeks ago (with a holiday in the middle)
and are pitching a major, immature, classless fit because you haven't
received the card yet. It takes time to process an application for
credit and if you know so little about this subject, then you have no
business with a credit card. If I were Salute Visa I would take you up
on your request to have your application cancelled as you are
obviously going to be nothing but a thorn in their side.

First of all, if you don't understand how credit applications and
processes works, you have no business getting a credit card.

If you knew anything at all about credit, you'd know that it takes
time to process an application, even if that application was a
"pre-qualified" offer. They have to check your payment history,
verify your income, review your banking habits. They don't just wave
a wand the instant you sign your name on the dotted line and send you
a card!

The way I see it, you can't write a simple paragraph without using
profanity, you use caps lock which, in the electronic world, is
seriously rude and you're ranting and complaining about things that
you clearly don't have the first clue about.

What exactly did they put you through other than taking a reasonable
amount of time to process your application? If anyone needs to
apologize it's you for your immature, belligerent behavior and for
posting this garbage on a public forum.

Two people with the same complaint in the same day. Seems likely,
but...

Anyway, this card costs over $100/year. The company is known for
taking a while, with some people, to get them approvals. They are
also know for never getting back to you if they don't approve you.

I assume you have very seriously damaged credit and therefore need to
pay $100+ for a secured credit card with a very low limit. If not,
stay away from this company. There are plenty of other cards,

Besides the obvious problems with this letter, am I the only one who
reads the applications that typically say 4-6 weeks for processing? I
don't frequently apply for CC's, but I admit to reading every junk
mail CC offer just in case it has better terms/interest than my
current cards. The best timeline I have seen is 2-4 weeks IF you
apply online. The vast majority however usually say about 6-8 weeks
for processing. So despite the yelling, and overall hissy-fit, OP
hasn't even come close to allowing enough time to get the card.

It's rather scary actually, because someone who seems so desperate for
credit, is probably the person you should avoid giving it to the most.

How exactly were you "ripped off"?

Dear Natasha..

Your freaking card will take as long as it freaking takes to process.
You don't have a clue as to how long it takes to process an
application, especially one that's loaded with bull crap such as
yours.

You can contact the compliance officer as much as you want as he will
also tell you how long it takes to process an application completed by
a stupid idiot.

If you wish to cancel you damn application, please send us a freaking
letter via USPS and we will be happy to do so. Otherwise it will take
as long as it takes and it is not a rip off.

Sincerely,

Finance Department
Chief Freakin Idiot

So, Natasha, how would it feel to receive a letter like that. Not so
good.

This letter shows that you aren't nearly mature enough for a credit
card. And if you have to beg for one, you probably shouldn't have
one.

Grow up.

I find it interesting the OP seems to know how long it should take a
company for which she does not work to process and mail a credit
card.

If the OP spoke to the people on the phone the way her letter is
written, I would not feel inclined to speed up the process.

Name-calling in a professional letter should be avoided. I'm certain
the OP would not want Salue Visa to send her a similar letter.

As for it being a rip-off..I'm not certain how it could be since the
OP doesn't have the credit card and she should not be getting charges
for it.

He tried to pull it out of his hat.. however it seems Boris missplaced
your application, and put it in the ACME self-destruct bin not the
mailbox.

Salute Visa knows why there is a little "recycle bin" icon on Windows
desktops. It is for letters just like this one. A good example of
why complaint letters should not be written in anger.

Allow me to rewrite:
Dear Sir or Madam,

I am very displeased with the amount of time it has taken to process
my Visa application. I have contacted your company several times to
inquire about the status of my application, and each time I have been
told that it is being processed, and that the representative can have
the finance dept. send me a letter telling me of my status. I applied
on 05/21/07, and it has still not gone through as of 06/05/07. Since
it has taken so much time with no resolution, I wish at this time to
withdraw my application. I feel an apology is in order for the delay.
I also plan on contacting the compliance officer as well and
forwarding them this information.
Thank You,
Natasha B.

There. I think that's much better, don't you?

Take some deep breaths through your mouth and exhale slowly through
your nose. Go to your "happy place" and imagine reading this letter.
Feel your Blood Pressure soaring?

Salutation missing: Dear Sir/Madam, To Whom It May Concern

Rule One. Never start a letter with "I AM VERY UPSET" it can only go
downhill quickly from there.

Words and phrases to re-consider in a business letter:
Freaking
Stupid
Idiot
Don't have a clue
Heck
Crap

Key to avoid:

Caps Lock
