Wowed by the Bakery Staff at Jewel-Osco!

Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing to tell you about my experience with your bakery at 2485 Howard St. in Evanston, IL..

I ordered a sheet cake and asked for green roses and green lettering on the cake, but all else white. You can not imagine my surprise when I saw an all-green cake--EVERYTHING on the cake was green. Apparently, there had been a breakdown in communication when I ordered the cake. The helpful (and very sympathetic) bakery employee quickly got a manager, whose name (I think) was Rob.

I can not even begin to tell you how quickly this man and this woman got to work to make my experience better! Rob reassured me that if I gave him a few minutes, he would fix everything. That's exactly what he did! They refrosted my sheet cake in record time, gave me a small discount on the cake for my "trouble," carried the cake out to my car, and apologized so many times that I had to reassure him that everything was really okay. These employees instantly understood my dilemma and not only fixed it, but exceeded my expectations completely with what they did to make everything better.

I just want to tell you what valuable employees you have at that store. I didn't get the helpful bakery employee's name, but she was terrific too. I hope you will share this email with the General Manager of the store, as well as with your other store employees. I have emailed this letter to your store via your website, in addition to sending it on planetfeedback.com.

My experience with your store far exceeded my expectations, and by the way--the cake was delicious!

This is a terrific letter! Great to know the manager was so helpful
and fixed your problem! Glad everything was fixed and turned out ok
for you!

Thanks for this letter Margo. It demonstrates how customer problems
ought to be handled - right on the spot, where the employees can fix
it and make it right.

That's great! I grew up in Illinois, I miss Jewel. Their California
counterpart Albertsons is just not the same :(

That's what I call customer service! It's so nice to know there are
employees who aim to please, and customers like yourself who
appreciate it. This incident could have easily gone the other way,
but this particular bakery staff obviously takes pride in their work.
