bad dining experience and rude employee

Posted Tue June 26, 2007 6:55 pm, by Deborah M.

I feel that we were treated rudely by the cashier and given misinformation of company policy. Our family was entering the Hometown Buffet on Sunday june 24 at 7:45 pm. The cashier, who was having a smoke break outside, followed us inside and told us that they would be closing in 10 minutes. I asked if they leave the food out until the customers are done eating and she told me no, they remove all the food from the tables at 8 pm. I would like to know if this is accurate information from the employee and if this is company policy.

Most places will actually start removing the food 5-10 minutes before
closing time. She was not being rude. In fact, it sounds like she was
trying to be helpful.

Did you not understand the fact that they closed AT 8:00? Just because
you walk in before 8 doesn't mean that the employees get to stand
around and wait for you to finish. I'm always amazed at customers who
run into a place right before closing, thinking that as long as they
enter before the doors are locked, they are free to stay past close.
That isn't how it works! Would you want to try to snarf down your food
in 7 or 8 minutes? I think that employee did you a favor. Just because
you don't like the answer doesn't make it rude.

I don't see how she was rude, not giving you the answer you want is
not rude. Come earlier next time.

I sure as heck woulnd't want to be sitting there watching people eat
for who knows how long after the place was closed.

So, how is this rude? The employee was trying to do you a favor by
letting you know that the food was going to be brought in at 8, thus
saving you money that otherwise would be wasted.

Wouldn't you say its rude to expect people to stay later because you
wanted to come ten minutes before closing time, and expect to eat long
after they are closed?
