Stop the Pain, Verizon!

In October 2006, I fell for a door to door scam from Verizon where they were going to provide me with Fios (fiber optic) television, Internet and Phone service for "one low" monthly fee. The Fios Internet service is slower than when I had DSL, the television user interface is extremely poorly constructed and the telephone service costs are outrageous. Today, I called them about a bill that was about twice of what it should have been and inquired about getting rid of all Verizon services. I was informed that I would have to pay a total of about $160.00 in early termination fees to get out of the contract. I can get the same service I have now with Comcast for around $110.00 per month (inclusive of taxes and service charges). My latest "one low" price fee from Verizon is $187.90. Since October, when I got scammed, I have paid Verizon well over $1400.00 and it will cost me another $160.00 to stop the pain? I fully intend on posting my complaint to every blog, website, and Internet chat room I can find. I have had it. Repeated calls do nothing, their customer service is poor and they do not care about service, all they want is your money.
Stop the pain!!! Let me out of the contract which is no less than a bait and switch scam without paying you anymore money.

Sorry you were treated so badly by Verizon. Be sure to place a consumer complaint with the federal communications commission. You can do so here:

Verison sounds like they are from the Devil! I don't live in the US, but from what I've read here on PFB, sheesh!

They're charging you more than your contract says? If so, then you definitely have a case for demanding that they charge you what your contract says.
