A Letter from an Unhappy Customer

To Whom it may concern I was at the Applebees in Pikeville, Kentucky last Friday night (8-10-07). Me and my boyfriend both order drinks I ordered a main street rita. After the waitress brought it to our table I took a drink of it and I didn't taste like it had any alchole in it. So I take a few more drinks and still the same thing. I let everyone at the table taste it and all 4 of us didn't taste any. So I finish the drink only because I was thirsty and it tasted like Limeade and the waitress comes back to take our order and I tell her about it and she said im sorry for that. She asked me if I wanted another drink and I figure sure why not give them another chance they wont screw it up a second time. So this time I get a strawberries Dacarie and it was the same. So I said something again and I figured the drinks where not gonna be on my bill but sure enough they where I was just soo fed up by the end of the night I paid for my bill ($43 by the way) and just left very unhappy because I just didn't feel like dealing with it.
thanks
Jimmy

I would like to get something for my trouble. I have been going to applebees for over 10yrs now in different locations in the us and this one had to be the worst.

sorry that the taste of alcohol in your mouth means so much to you
that you decided to waste your time writing this letter.

You really are stupid. You did not like the drinks, yet drank them
anyway? Secondly your spelling is horrible! Third, you left w/o
talking to a manager, when you do that, you lose all power in the
complaint! Next time, act like an adult, and deal w/ your problems
accordingly.

In a good mixed drink you shouldn't be able to taste the alcohol. if
you want to taste it just order a shot.

Just because you said something doesn't mean they were going to get
taken off the bill. What is a dacarie? Are you sure your 21 or older?
And alchole? I don't really think anything was "trouble".. you just
expected her to take the drink costs off. Don't be so greedy.

Part of the weak drink could be explained by the fact that Pike
County,KY is considered a moist county. In other words, some cities
have legalized the sale of alcohol, but the county is still mostly
dry. In fact most of the state of KY is dry, so it would seem to me
there is a genuine concern amongst the citizens of KY regarding the
use of alcohol. There is also very likely a limit on the amount of
alcohol in a single drink.

As those before me have said, why didn't you try to speak with the
manager at the time? It's always best to do that because sometimes
problems can be handled there.

Now, I probably have a little more sympathy because being the Pike
County girl that I am, I'm familiar with that Applebees and I know it
has a bit of a bad reputation. I've never actually eaten there myself.
However, if I did and I had a problem, I would still at least try to
talk to the manager.

All these chain restaurants make their drinks weak. If you had a
problem with it, you should have addressed it with the manager while
you were there. That was the time to "get something for your
trouble".

What's alchole?

You drank a cocktail you were unhappy with -- by finishing it, you're
saying it was acceptable to you. Then you ordered another one. Did
you finish that one as well?

You could have contested the drink charge of your second drink if you
didn't finish it. But if you drank it down and expected it to be
taken off your bill, you were mistaken.

For the record, Applebee's corporate policy is to pour very weak
drinks, to avoid liability for the actions of drunken patrons. A
standard long island iced tea should have 4-5 shots of liquor in and
it should knock most people on their butts. An Applebee's LI iced tea
has the equivalent of two shots of liquor (half-shots of four kinds of
booze).

The time to "get something for your trouble" was before you paid the
bill and left the restaurant. the fact you "didn't feel like dealing
with it" at the time says that the issue just wasn't that important.

Not that I drink that much or anything *eye roll*

Daquiris have rum.

Margaritas have tequilla.

Martinis have vodka.

Usually.

At least that's what's in my glass right now. One of the above... ;)

She's 17. Don't blow her cover!

Mostly because Dad 2 is allergic to tequilla and whenever we buy rum,
it disappears too quickly.

Come to think of it, when in doubt we usually use vodka. We've got
about sive bottles of the cheap stuff under the pots and pans from the
last party they hosted, and we- er, they- don't drink that often.

Martinis are usually gin but can be vodka...
