What I have to say about your posting is that you have to be an
ignorant person to be calling Spanish speaking people Mexicans. First
of all, if you didn't know that South America and Central America do
exist. There are over 20+ countries around the world that speak the
language "SPANISH". Before you post anything, please know what you're
typing so you won't make a fool out of yourself. People like you just
make me want to laugh. I'm from Argentina by the way, and I speak

I totally agree. I had the same thing happen to me. For about a year I
had telemarketers calling me, asking for me, then speaking in another
language. Finally I got annoyed and told them if they are going to
call me to speak english. I work in retail and I am sick and tired of
people not able to speak english then get mad at me because I cannot
help them. If I moved to China...... I WOULD LEARN CHINESE FIRST... IF
I MOVED TO MEXICO..... I WOULD LEARN SPANISH FIRST... I WOULDN'T GET

I think that your lack of knowledge is killing you. First, not
everybody that speaks Spanish is an illegal alien in this country.
Second, Mexico is not the only Spanish speaking country, have you ever

While the complaint is valid, I find the tone utterly embarrassing,
from one American to another. This is a country where one is presumed
innocent until proven otherwise. The caller's manners may have been
bad, but you have no right to accuse him of breaking federal laws
(working here illegally) - just because of his language!

you called that other person a moron for spelling illegel wrong but
you spelled something wrong to in your letter, you spelled the sware
word wrong, it has a i in the middle not a star in the middle, the
only word that has a star in the middle is wal*mart. if you don't
believe me then look at harry potter book 7 on page 589 and they spell
it with an i not a star, but if you are from us it is from another
page.

I think that was done to avoid spelling out the entire word. I think
it was done that way on purpose and was not a misspelling.

We should not have to be teaching such things, if he were actually the
age of 14 or older as required by the TOS he may have understood what

I did'nt know telemarketers could call people in spanish...i know my
company does'nt allow that and others don't as well. First, if the
caller in question was illegal, he would'nt get that type of job bc
they do a social security check and require id and everything...thats
why alot of illegals work on farms and under the table at local
restaurants. Those jobs really dn't care one way or the other whether
you're illegal or legal.

Sounds more like a crank call to me. As others have pointed out before
me, how do you even know it was from dish?

Most of the time calls like that are farmed out to companies that
operate call centres. The person calling on behalf of the comapny,
could be sitting beside someone else who works for Sears. It is not
the companies fault if they farm out the work, who the call centre
hires, and who called you. How do you know that there aren't other
english speaking people there.

Also, I noticed that you mentionned that you speak Spanish, so then if
that is the case, what is the big deal, just talk to the person in
Spanish. I often get phone calls in French at work, and while my
french, isn't 100% perfect, I will speak to them in french instead of
insisting that since we live in Canada that they speak English.

Despite your demonstrated linguistic prowess, is it possible you
provoked a bad reaction from the caller? I mean, what you say here is
so hysterical and deeply irrational, I can only imagine what you would
sound like in the heat of the moment (in any language). In the end,

1. How in the world did you deduce that this person was from this
company? It doesn't say anywhere that he claimed this, unless you got
it from the caller ID. It sounds like a prank call. Actually, this
sounds like a prank call I'd make... Do you live in TO, by any

2. You're implying that only illegal aliens speak Spanish, and
therefore anyone speaking Spanish must be an illegal alien. He might
be a legal American citizen. I speak French, yet I am not an illegal
