Rude Staff

I wanted to replay what happened during my visit to the Victoria's Store located in the Jacksonville, NC mall. I overheard two of the floor reps making fun a heavier women for shopping at their store. I believe in free speech but they were speaking loud enough for the heavy lady to overhear them. I could see it crushed her, she put her stuff back and left. I brought this to the managers attention, who said she would take care of it. I walked out of the store but stopped just around the corner to see if she would in fact speak to them about it. Well she did, she said something to them and all three of them broke out in hysterical laughter.

Some sort of sensitivity training. Heavy women like to shop at Victoria's Secret too. They shouldn't have to fear ridicule from your store employees.

I completely agree! I work at a Victoria's Secret myself and I NEVER
discriminate customers due to their weight! I help every customer that
walks into my zone with whatever they may need regardless of
weight/height/ethnicity/whatever. It seems these girls need some
tolerance training!

good for you. if you are going to talk about something like this it
needs to be done in private. not in front of the customer! that is so
mean. kudos to you for complaining. but when you left they might not
have been laughing about the situation.

It is sad when people feel the need to be petty and mean like that!
But we also have to look at the lot of (mostly) bimbo idiots hired to
work in those stores; there is a reason they are the ones working in
them and ladies like the one you mentioned can at least afford to shop
in them (even if they can't fit into most the clothes); who knows she
may have been just trying to find a gift for a friend; it really
doesn't matter. I think I personally might have said something
directly to those girls, afterall, tanorexia and heavy liner won't
look so good when they are still making minimum wage in ten years!
Good for you for trying to say something!

The manager might have spoken to theem later about it. It doesn't mean
because they were laughing they were laughing about that. They
shouldn't have made fun of the lady, but you really can't be sure what
they were laughing about.

Good for her then. Hopefully she found what she wanted where people
don't make fun of her. Send her to my school and the principal will
have the guidance counsellor give her a lecture about respecting
people even if they are different.

I'm glad you brought this to their attention. I agree when it comes to
intimate clothing shopping, sensitivity is a must.

That was terrible, and it's good to see that you are trying to do
something to correct it.

That's horrible. I really hope something is done about this.

It was nice of you to try to set things right. People can be very
cruel, and it's not right to hurt someone's feelings that way. It's
just bad business, I'm sure, even though the store may not cater to
larger women, she could have found something she could wear or have
altered.

Great Letter!

I don't think any amount of sensitivity training would help these
women. They were not exercising free speech, but being gossips. And
obviously the manager is a cohort instead of a real manager.
It was nice of you to report this incident to Victoria's Secret. I
hope that poor customer doesn't dwell on the actions of a couple
judgmental, shallow jerks.

I agree with you.

VS caters to thinner women but larger women will shop there, too. I'm
a larger woman and I've shopped there for presents at Christmas. If I
want something on the sexy side I go to Lane Bryant.

One more thing. When I've shopped VS they've always been very nice to
me.

Thank you for saying something. People can be jerks, but sometimes
they can also be very nice. :)
