Write a Letter to this Company

Flying in to the Dulles location towards the end of October. Tried to book the Hyatt Hotel in Dulles for 10/20/2007.
Lo and behold the hotel is completely sold out. It's great when a hotel can sell out but not for a sex party.
The strange part about this is after alittle investigation, I found out that this isn't the first time this hotel sold out for this particular group, APG or better known as Adult Playground. This group is a group of swingers, folks that are paying about 200.00 to have sex with other married folks or singles. When I tried to talk directly with the hotel about it. They simply was hell bent on the hotel being sold out and there is nothing we could do for you. I gave them the link to the sex site and they wouldn't even address the issue.
So I am guess the Hyatt is in on this deal too. I wonder how much their cut is? You shut down a complete hotel for sex.

I am sure nothing will be done the party will go on, because most businesses are in it for the dollar

The goal of the hotel is to put head in beds. As long as there is
nothing Illeagle going on, I do not see what the problem is. My wife
and I have had sex in hotels, I am sure most reader have had sex in
hotels. It is not any of my buisness who they are having sex with. I
ran into a similar situation with a group from a swingers web site,
they took over a hotel I tried to stay at. At first I was irritated,
then I though, why do I care what these people from are doing. It
could have been a convention of preists (probably more sex going on in
that convention) either way the hotel would have been sold out and I
had to find somewhere else to stay. As long as these people from , are
no bothering anyone, or breaking any laws I do not see what the
problem is

Dear (insert hotel name here):

I tried to book a room in your Rapid City, SD location for the week of
August 4-10, 2008. I wanted to take my wife, Muffy, daughter, Buffy
and son, Chad Jr. to the area to see some of the sights like Mt
Rushmore.

Imagine my suprise when I found out there were no rooms available. I
checked other hotels and found them booked also.

I did a little research and found that all rooms were booked because
of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. I am shocked that you would rent all
your rooms to those hard riding, rock and roll playing, leather clad
bikers and have none available for me and my white bread American
family.

I called and found that you would do nothing to help me book a room
for my family. I guess you are just in it for the money. What's your
cut?

How can you shut down an entire city for bikers?

That was just a hotel .. The SwingFest Swingers Convention takes over
an entire 1000 room resort.

And I'm soooooo going!

How did you find out what group had rooms set aside or reserved for
them?

There are TONS of hotels in this area (I should know, I work 3 minutes
away from IAD).

I'm sure you can find one nearby.

You may not agree with the swinger lifestyle, but just as any other
group that would rent out a hotel, they have every right to pick any
venue of their choice.

Look on the bright side, by telling you the hotel was sold out, you
got to sleep in a different hotel and not be subject to hearing your
swinger neighbors activities.

Get over yourself. Next you'll complain that they are renting to
blacks or gays!!!

PS...Just so you know, at some point in her life your mother had SEX
as well. Maybe she was at the party.

How did you know that this particular group rented rooms in the hotel?
And how did you find out about the website in such a short amount of
time?

Sounds like Fentress is jealous because they turned down her
application into Adult Playground.

I am SHOCKED that people rent hotel rooms for sex! Who Knew????

Did you happen to "investigate" the rest rooms at the airport? Post
back and let us know how it goes! ;)

"I am sure nothing will be done the party will go on, because most
businesses are in it for the dollar "

I always thought most businesses were in it because they like serving
people and taking care of those people's needs in return for nothing,
until either all of their employees starved to death or the bill
collectors took away their assets. I guess I learned something today.

The Hyatt is a business, and as such, they are eager to rent rooms so
they can make money. My guess is they really don't care who they rent
blocks of rooms too,as long as they pay.
That being said,I wonder why this seems so offensive to you?people
have sex every day..and you are going to be horrified by this, but some
people check into hotels for that exact purpose!
If you are this bothered by a hotel renting blocks of rooms to
swingers,then perhaps you shouldn't stay at Hyatts anymore....and I
wonder why you didn't just go to another hotel.I imagine there are
plenty of hotels in the Denver metroplitan area that would be willing
to cater to your stifled sensibilities.

by Mike Z. Posted Fri September 28, 2007 @ 1:03 PM

How dare they rent rooms in their hotel. Who do they think they are?

Id be willing to bet money that this isnt the first time people have
had sex at that hotel. Settle down, and check in to the Holiday Inn
Express or wherever. No one will definitely be getting laid there.

If you wanted my hotel room, all you had to do was ask. I could've
moved my sex party somewhere else.

Incidentally, I'm mystified by your statement about most businesses
being "in it for the dollar." That's kind of what businesses are for.
What did you think they were in it for? Hugs?

You know, my son's wrestling team and my daughter's gymnastics team
often book blocks of rooms far ahead of time so that the teams can get
the best rates, and teammates can stay in the same hotel and hang
together. I'm guessing that whichever parent books the block can give
any name he or she pleases. As long as I give the "proper" name, I
can get into the block and get the group rate. (For nationals in
2007, the hotel gave another group's name. I agreed to it, because
our coach told us that this was "the" hotel to reserve.)

Come to think of it, a wedding party can reserve a set of rooms, too.
Actually, any group can. I'm going to a work-related conference, and
all I did was give the group's name, and I'll get the special rate.

It just so happens that you tried to book a room at an
AIRPORT on a Saturday night. Some group got there before you did.
Live with it.

I'm not sure how you found out which group it was. I've certainly
never found out until I arrived and saw a bunch of gymnasts or
wrestlers or(ugh) hockey players at the hotel. Unless I was with that
group, of course.

I'm sure that, as long as the group members are discreet, "the party
will go on". If you owned a business, you would certainly accept
guaranteed business(reservations with credit card numbers) over
non-guaranteed business. First come, first served.

For many people one of the biggies is s-e-x. Sex. Straight, gay,
whatever you are into unless it involves underage people.

Who the heck cares why they sold out? It isn't any of your concern,
other than they have no rooms available. Boo-hoo for you.

Businesses are in it for the money. Yes, that is why they are in
business. To provide rooms for a price. That's another thing that
makes the world turn - money. Get a grip.

by ColoradoCOP Posted Wed September 26, 2007 @ 7:32 PM

Your complaint has no merit. They have the right to allow whomever
they want, so as they are not violating the law. It is a business
after all.

Sweetie, unless they hogtied you, dressed you up in a dog costume and
forced you to watch them do jello shots, it's none of your business
what they were doing. They called the hotel first and got all the
rooms. Imagine them standing in the lobby going 'neener neener neener'
because that is about what they think of you.

Wow, imagine a hotel wanting to attract a lot of guests and make a
profit off of them. What a slap in the face to our communist way of
life. Wait a minute... We're not communist. Yet...

It's not the hotel's business what goes on in the rooms as long as it
doesn't violate the TOS or bother other guests. If you saw naked women
running around in the hallways, that might be a problem. If they were
keeping to themselves (and for two hundred bucks, why wouldn't they
be?), it's none of your business.

I go to about six conventions per year; granted, they are gaming
conventions, and they sell out the hotels every time. I'm sure that
pisses someone off too, but there are events like this for EVERY
SUBCULTURE KNOWN TO MAN, and their money is just as good as anyone
else's. In fact, three of them I regularly attend ARE at Hyatts.
They have a great convention business.

Or do we sense a little jealousy here? Maybe you should get laid
yourself before you condemn other consenting adults for having a good
time. Like other posters already said, being politically conservative
is your right, but you have absolutely no say in how other people
conduct their private lives and spend their money, nor do you control
what customers businesses decide to serve.

And so this is me and not just common sense, HAHAHA MORON. Your
husband/wife is probably ready to take a lead aspirin if this is how
you feel about sex.

Too bad you didn't get a room while the APG was there. You might have

If you hate this type of group so much, why would you want to stay
there while the convention was there? Methinks you protest too much.

So, Really...would you have stayed there anyways? I DON'T think so.
Its possible that APG payed for FULL use of this hotel! Hyatt is a
business and they are allowed to treat it as such, right? Isn't that
why most people have a business to make money, pay bills and follow
our dreams?

Gosh, thats awesome that they sold out to the APG...people are always
happy after sex! Could you even imagine all the happy customers they
had running around their establishment! WOOHOO! I'd want happy
customers too...there's only so much negativity that can be tolerated!
Lifes too short...

MA Loper brings up a good point. And it's people like THIS that give
conservatism a bad name. I might be politically conservative, but IN
NO WAY do I feel that anyone's sex life is my business. Also, most
conservatives that I know most certainly DO NOT feel this way.

Who CARES why the hotel is sold out??? Even if it was for a cause you
'approve' of, the end result is the same. Sold out. Sold out.

Say it with me: There.are.no.rooms

Very simple.

Sold out. No room.

Your little rant here only served to make you sound like a right-wing
kook. Mind your own business and stay somewhere else.

Reply

by MA Loper Posted Wed September 26, 2007 @ 1:06 PM

that because YOU don't approve/agree with the lifestyle choices these
people have made and they got to the hotel and booked their rooms
before you did that YOU have the right to decree whether they can
stay?

Get over yourself! I am so sick of the holier-than-thou, right wing
conservatives!

Maybe I am tired of you and your judging and your hypocritical
(usually unfounded) rhetoric. If I can't ban you from this website
because I don't like what you stand for, then you have NO RIGHT to
tell anyone else where they can and cannot stay. The freedoms and
rules apply to EVERYONE equally, not just you.

I hope Hyatt tells you to take a flying leap you narrow-minded drone!

Hotels are often used for sex.

People have honeymoons in hotels.

People have extra-marital affairs in hotels.

Married people have sex in hotels.

People do swinging in hotels.

In other words, it's not really the hotel's business to monitor
people's sexual activities. Their job is to provide a room with
various hotel-related services.

They are doing their job.

And...NEWSFLASH...they are a BUSINESS! They ARE in it for the money!

If you have an ethical or moral problem with people having sex in
hotel rooms, then you should never stay in one.

The hotel is in the right here. Suppose the hotel did not restrict the
rooms to the general public and you booked a room for the weekend the
swingers group was going to be there. How upset would you be that you
were not informed before hand the hotel would be filled with this type
of group. You would be outraged and demanding your money back because
you or possibly your family was deeply offended.

Grow up, I am sure the Dallas region has alternate hotels you can stay
at.

Fentress J.,
You must consider that businesses can not discriminate, pick and
choose what oprganizations they will accept or deny doing business
with.
Plus I might detect a bit of shenanigans going on here the way you
banter about their internet site and appear to have keen insight into
their method of operation.
I must wonder if this is a bit of self promotion going on here or if
you missed the cut off date for booking within the group block and are
just plain put out that you are going to miss the event.

judging others, just find another hotel to stay at. Easy as pie.
Hyatt doesn't care who stays there, honestly, as long as the bill is
paid. And I personally think the only reason you care is because you
couldn't get your way and stay at the Hyatt. Why else would you do a
'little investigating' and try to get corporate involved? Geez.
