On the phone i asked for the price of a dog bath and grooming ;i explained he had some nodded hair;and he had not had a bath in several days he told me $60 and then at the store he say $80 because the dog hair was very nooded???.My dog is a yorkie and he is 5 pounds ;either way he kne he had to shaved him.He refused to do the job all together and i spoke with the managment that convince him to do it but for $80.00.I think is an OUTRAGEOUS amount of money to shave a 5 pound dog. They lost me as a client

i will like them to credit me for a free trim next time

They lost you as a client but you want to come back if the groom is
free? You do not deserve free anything. You chose to let your dogs
coat get severly matted and you also chose not to accept the quote the
groomer gave. Petco and their groomers did nothing to you.

Matted hair takes a longer time to shave through. Its hard on our
equipment, and its overall dangerous. We dont know what is under all
those matts, so we have to go really slow. Yorkies have very thin skin
and are very easy to tear. I know that at my salon, we have the right
to refuse a groom if we are not comfortable grooming the dog. Petco is
not grooming your dog, the groomer is. Typical grooming for a dog that
size is usually between 45-60 dollars, and thats without matting. Had
I been the groomer, no amount of money would have made me comfortable
grooming your dog.

Matting is very different than knotting. Matting is close to the skin,
and it actually tightens if you dont take care of it right away. You
chose to have a long haired drop coated breed, you should know what it
takes to care for thier coat.

I agree with every thing SiotehCat has posted. You are doing the
groomers at Petco a favor by not coming back until you understand and
know how to care for your dog. I would have turned you down as well
because even if I quoted you a lower price, ignoring the work, hazards
on your dog and our own equipment, the chances are there is no
pleasing you; losing money in the process. Of course, that is not with
solid proof but with experiance with other dog owners who happen to
act the same way and bring their dogs in with similar conditions. I
would rather make a living by booking dogs from people who can take
care of their drop coated breed or accept the concequences of not
maintaining their dogs coat.

How would they be able to give you a free trim next time if they've
already lost you as a client?
