It begins with a simple letter to Target asking a question about the Salvation Army, a letter which generated 122 responses, mostly negative. Had I known what I know now, I would have just written a letter and dropped it in the mail.
This site provides a good service and an easy way to contact companies, but it has probably migrated into a statistic gathering device instead of the "voice it was intended to be.
I admit I got wrapped up in the game as well; I couldn't wait to "hammer" a letter writer or comment on a post. My level of one-upmanship grew to an embarrassing level.
I started writing letters with good content, but crafted them in such a way that they were sure to cause controversy, and it worked for a while. Not only was it fun, but it was a bit therapeutic.
Suddenly, I am banished and no one wants to post to my letters, this only gives me cause to post to other letters, and I post some doozies.
I have been referred to as a slack jaw, a yokel, a bumpkin, an idiot, an a-hole, etc.... Most of this was directed at the name I created, but a lot was probably personal attacks. I am amazed at the level of hatred generated by simple letters.
I have one suggestion. When a OP is creating a letter, he/she should be queried about their interaction with the manager. I can't start to count the number of responses that begin with "did you speak to a manager?"
I find that I am spending way to much time on this site; I am not leaving, but I am no longer going to fill this site with my writings, it just isn't worth it any longer.
I do wish you all well and urge you to examine your personal post over the past month or so and ask yourself "am I being helpful or spiteful?"
For the record, I posted on 57% complaints, 35% compliments, and 8% questions; 23 letters with only 2 responses. One from Dominoes and one from Target; I recommend you patronize these stores.
For all of you that think I am an uneducated hick; I have a college degree, as does my wife, I have made life/death decisions throughout my career, in 2005 & 2006 I made 36 platelet donations to a blood donation center, look up platelet donation on google to see what a huge commitment this was. I honestly feel as though my platelets saved lives. I don't let my kids kill anything they aren't prepared to eat, I believe every living creature has a right to live until it is ready to enter the food chain. Yes, I catch bugs in my house, but I always take them outside and let them go.
I have one more letter to write, then I am going to make cameo appearances, not the daily barrage I am known for.

While I think Citgo as well as most other Petro companies (insert suction sound here) and I think Hugo Chavez is a (insert multiple swears here) They both care nothing.... NOT ONE THING about you and your opinion.
If you want to really send a message to them, send it with your wallet.
I do not spend a dime in places I think stink, Citgo, McDonalds, WalMart being a few off the top of my head.
If you want to support a gas station you know is terror free go here for the list

Wait, we're all worked up over this letter for nothing. I misread and thought the OP was saying that McDs supports "terrorists." Instead, McDs supports a "Terriost," which is an entirely other matter.
From Dictionary.com:
"Terriost: ter-ee-ohst (n): Low-level-education trolls who post nonsensical, poorly thought out, poorly written letters by typing them in between rounds of crushing empty beer cans against their forehead and shooting rats."

I agree with Gino's post below. Everytime you buy gas, you are supporting terrorism. Where do you think Al Qaeda and the other groups get their money from? This country needs to get rid of its dependence on foreign oil. The people who drive hummers that get like 8-10 miles per gallon are not only destroying the earth, but are lining these people's pockets at the same time.
If I were in office, I would propose that everyone who buys gas for a car that gets under 20 miles a gallon receive a punch in the stomach. We could call it the mother nature tax. After awhile im sure people would drive more fuel effecient vehicles and not be supporting terrorism.

Here's a little bit of education for you Jay. Chavez (or I should say his country) does not own the Citgo station in and of itself. True, the oil/gas that they get comes from Venezuela. But that's it. If McDonalds is leasing the space the money goes to the owner of the station which is not Venezuela (Chavez).
But hey, I'm half way with you. I never get gas at Citgo stations.

Well, you'll certainly be healthier by boycotting McDonald's, no matter what the reason is. This could be a blessing in disguise.
Hah. Terrorist. You're ridiculous.

Jay,
Everytime you buy gas anywhere, you're supporting terrorists. Citgo is the lesser of all evils, at least they help people who can't afford to heat their homes. BP just got fined for cornering the market and artificially inflating propane prices, where's the boycott?

I don't think the McDonald's is supporting the Citgo. These two companies wanted to open in the same area, and teamed up. That's what stores do. People do it to live, as well, when they create a building with a common wall.
You can interrupt your life and launch a campaign against [?]. It sounds like your complaint is against McDonald's, which you called "an outstanding American company." So, you are threatening to expose an outstanding American company of doing something that you clearly do not believe is outstanding.
Do you have any proof the McDonald's restaurant is "supporting" the Citgo?

the violent death rate in Iraq is 25.71 per 100,000. That may sound
high, but not when you compare it to places like Colombia 61.7 per
100,000 death rate, violent death rate. South Africa, has a higher
violent death rate per 100,000: 49.6 per 100,000. Even Jamaica has a
higher violent death rate than does Iraq: 32.4, and Venezuela comes in
at 31.6 violent deaths per 100,000. "How about the violent death rates
in American cities? New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina was 53.1,"
violent death rate per 100,000. "FBI statistics for 2004-05 have
Washington" DC's violent death rate at 45.9 per 100,000; Baltimore at
37.7 per 100,000, and Atlanta at 34.9 per 100,000. The figure again
from Iraq, 25.71 per 100,000, and that includes the casualties of
war.
I wonder when CNN is going to report this?

Dude, I am with you on this one! I will not buy Citgo gas, even if it is a few cents cheaper than most others.
Hats off to 7-11, they actually stopped selling Citgo gas about a year ago.
Be sure to post a link to your pic!!
