Iced tea at TGIF's is no longer potable

Write a Letter to this Company
I visited your Easton, PA location last night. This was my fifth visit in five months. The previous visits have been most enjoyable.
When I took the first sip of my iced tea, I was shocked. It has been consistently excellent, but this was absolutely horrible. I took a few more sips, and tried to figure out what was wrong.
The first thing I noticed was it tasted like it had been shot out of a gun. There was a mix of flavors, with a tinge of possibly flavored tea. It also tasted somewhat like an instant mix. The bottom line was it bore no resemblance whatsoever to the fine product delivered on previous visits.
When I began to question the server, she immediately nodded and said "I have heard a lot of complaints. They switched from fresh brewed to the beverage shooter." I switched to the flavored tea, which was much better than first drink, but not something I enjoy drinking.
I noticed when I paid that the price for this vastly inferior product is the same as the orginal. This really galls me. The current product isn't even as good as what fast food restaurants serve, for much less cost. Not that I would buy theirs either, but the point is that what you are serving is unacceptable.
Switch back to fresh brewed tea. While TGIF's is not fine dining, it is a far cry from ordering off the value meal at a fast food joint. I paid $17 for an entree and the tea. I should get a decent beverage with such a meal.

I had a similar experience with another resteraunt a couple years back. Turned out they made tea and coffee ont the same machine and forgot to switch out the coffee grounds and another employee added more tea to what they thought was tea. Yuck!

This gun they use...it is attached to the bar? If so, perhaps you are getting the remnants of soda water or alchohol or something else along with the tea. Sometimes soda fountains that have a drink next to the water dispenser come out watery flavored, becaue the tubes sometimes leak into the adjacent flavor.

Excellent Letter!
Was Dixie still working there? or was it a different TGIF?
I noticed this myself. I usually drink coffee and recently started drinking iced tea. I noticed a difference at TGIF near us, it's a strange metallic after taste. I'm glad they at least responded but it is kind of lame to wait before switching back.

I understand where your coming from, I am a avid "real" tea drinker, and I can smell the powdered stuff a mile away!

It turns out (Tracy was right again) I should have found the manager of this location before writing here.
I just got off the phone with the manager, and his comments were:
"We have to serve the Mango-Strawberry brewed tea because Friday's tells us to. An additional urn would cost $1000. Our group decided to move to a [brand] product that could be served out of a gun for regular tea. In the past, we changed our coffee. I complained for 6 months about it and we eventually switched back. We do value our customer's comments, and I will mention this at our group meeting. Hopefully the Mango tea will be a trendy item, and it will go away."
This was informative, but frustrating. Because they have to serve a new concoction, a staple like brewed tea gets shoved aside. Fads, fads, fads. Sigh.
"I mean, this move is no good, Jerry. It's just taking up a lot of my time. And I...will not stand by and allow him to perform this move on me, when a perfectly good move is just sitting in the barn doing nothing!"

I love iced tea, so I'd be annoyed to find out they changed the flavor to something less palatable.
Since even the server said they've received a lot of complaints, I wonder if they'll consider going back to the original.

Good letter, good complaint.
When I worked at Hardee's in high school/college, we made brewed iced tea several times a day, and people loved it. It isn't that expensive to do, and from everything I've heard, it's just so much better than instant tea that I don't see why more restaurants don't offer the brewed version.

Totally off the topic, but I can't stand Sweet N Low. It tastes bitter as sin and it just struck me that enought people would prefer it over Equal to cause y'all to switch! Nothing wrong with that, mind you, it just shocks the heck outta me!

Sweet n' Low leaves the nastiest aftertaste. I actually buy a really yummy Pepermint Mocha creamer this time of year, and made my first coffee with it yesterday. I made the mistake of using a Sweet n' Low in it, instead of my Splenda, and it ruined the whole coffee. Yuck.

Being someone who carries a gun on a daily basis, I am yet to shoot a drink out of it yet, so I do not know what it tastes like! But, in all seriousness, I agree, I think they should be consistent in how they make the drink, or at least post some sort of a notice.

Ah, crap. I misread "potable" in the title of this letter as "potato" and got all excited. Turns out you're not supporting my cause after all.
Oh, well. Good letter anyway.

TGIF is a Hack Organization, they cut corners and I haven't eaten their SLOP in years.
If you want some really good tea, go to Olive Garden and order the Peach Tea!

Actually, I think this is a valid issue, but I find the tone of the letter a bit off.
Instead of being galled, you should simply state that you prefer the old tea and would, respectfully, like them to consider bring it back.
Anger has no place in an issue like this. Simply state your preference and, hopefully, when combined with other feedback, they're make the right choice.

This is a great letter and if they get enough complaints, as they may from what you describe the servers comments were, they may consider changing back. I hope they respond to your letter and please share it if they do.

Good letter.
I would have mentioned it to the manager, though.
