empty lunchable box

Posted Fri November 16, 2007 9:19 am, by Carrie K. written to Kraft Foods, Inc.

Write a Letter to this Company

I sent my son to school with a mini hot dogs lunchable, and when he got to school, all that was in the lunchable box was 2 drinks!!! Absolutely NO FOOD!!! Luckily my son was able to eat a hot lunch from the school, but that means that his lunchable, or lack thereof, cost me the $2.00 for the lunchable, and another $4.00 for the school lunch! So the way I see it, Kraft owes me $6.00!!!!!! And I'd like to tell parents to double check their childrens' lunchables before sending them off to school, to make sure they actually have something to eat!

Send me a check for $6.oo.

$2 *or* $4.

You bought their product and it was defective. So you could
reasonably ask for your money back.

Or I'd think you could make a convincing case that because the problem
couldn't be seen from the oustide of the box it wasn't discovered
until lunchtime, and therefore the school lunch was the least
expensive way of ensuring that he didn't miss lunch, and you wouldn't
have had to spend $4 if you hadn't spent $2 buying the defective
lunch. You could convince me that $4 is the appropriate amount for
reimbursement.

But to give you $6 ($2 *and* $4) means that essentially you should not
have had to make any arrangements to get your son fed that day. It's
not the case that if the Lunchables box had had the correct contents
your son wouldn't have eaten and you wouldn't have had to spend any
money at all. His lunch for the day wouldn't have cost you $6, but it
would have cost you $2.

Now, if they wanted to give you coupons for 3 new boxes of Lunchables
($6 of merchandise), I'd think that would be a very nice thing for
them to do. If they were only to give you 2 coupons, on the other
hand (or $4, the cost of the school lunch), I'd think they did right
by you.

Refund for the empty lunchable, yes, refund for the school lunch your
son ate, no! He did eat it, didn't he.

I would venture to guess, that if Kraft had an inspection problem with
a whole batch of product, there would be something on the news about
it or a heck of a lot more complaints. I can see maybe one or two
slipping through as a pssibility. I don't think they owe you for the
lunch your child purchased, their only responsibility would be to
replace the product or to refund your money.

Send them the lot number on the box. They may have an entire batch
like that. Quality control may have been snoozing that day lol.

Yowza! Where do you live where it costs $4 for a school lunch? That
has to get expensive.

While I don't really think you'll get the $4 back for your son buying
lunch at school, I think you should get back what you paid for the
Lunchable since it was empty except for the drink. Good luck!

Breakfast 'and' lunch and my kids school comes out to be about $1.75
(not reduced) combined. Four dollars is a lot for a kid meal, even
McDonalds and Burger King isn't that much for a kids meal.

The lunchables that I have seen in the stores can be checked, they
either have a clear wrapping or there is enough room to look under the
paper wrapping. Although I rarely buy my kids lunchables, have you
seen what is in those things, and not to mention the salt levels,
there really not very healthy for kids.

I will keep this letter in mind the next time I do buy one and make
sure to check it very well. Good information, thank you.
