MY KIDS BOUGHT ME THE MAC DADDY IPOD, IT STARTED FREEZING ON ME ABOUT 8 MTHS AFTER I GOT IT, SO I CALLED THE STORE TO SEE WHAT TO DO, THEY TOLD ME TO JUST PUSH THE HOLD BOTTON BACK AND FORTH SOMETIMES THAT WOULD WORK, AND IT DID FOR A SHORT TIME. IT STARTED AGAIN, SO I CALLED AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME TO RESET IT, I DID BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. I THEN TOOK IT BACK TO BEST BUY WERE IT WAS BOUGHT, THEY WERE NO HELP AT ALL , THEY SAID "SORRY YOU DIDNT BUY THE WARRANTY SO YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK"! ITS NOW PAST THE WARRANTY TIME AND I AM STUCK WITH A VERY EXPENSIVE PIECE OF JUNK THAT I CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT,I HAVE THE RECEIPT AND THE BOX.

I WOULD LIKE APPLE TO REPLACE THE IPOD SINCE IT HAS NOT BEEN THAT LONG PAST THE WARRANTY TIME, I COULD SEE IF IT WAS A COUPLE OF YEARS OLD AND WAS ABUSED, BUT I TOOK GREAT CARE OF IT AND SPENT ALOT OF MONEY FOR THE BETTER IPOD, WHY CANT THINGS YOU SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON LAST!!!!! ! OH ONE MORE THING I BOUGHT IT AT BEST BUY AND THEY- PARDON MY WORDS (SUCK WHEN IT COMES TO CUSTOMER CARE) THANK YOU KATHY

but Ipods come with a 1 year AUTOMATIC warranty. Did you remember to
register it?

If so, take it into an Apple retailer - My Mac, Apple Store, etc...
and explain it to them. Some may charge you a small facilitation fee,
but if you registered your Warranty then that should be all you paid
(I cannot guarantee this though. For Ipods over 6 months old we have
to charge 40 dollars shipping and handling, but Apple replaces the
Ipod completely if its defective under warrant).

Good luck, I hope this helps.

Go on the Apple website, they should list something along the lines of
Genius Bar (or stores that have a genius bar) and then book an
appointment. I took hubby's ipod nano there when the screen started to
go green. I was in there for exactly 18 minutes, and came out with an
ipod that has worked better now then it did before the genius bar
visit. It has been 6 months.
It was well worth the visit and best of all it was free.

So, how long past the warranty expiration should they fix it? 3
months? 6 months? 1 year? It came with a one year warranty, that's
all the time you get.

Please lay off the caplock!

What is the idea of using all caps? Please turn them off when you
rewrite this.
A warranty expiration is on that date, not "a short time after". The
time limit cannot be extended just for you. Everyone else is just as
special and would want the same treatment.
"MY KIDS BOUGHT ME THE MAC DADDY IPOD"-"I TOOK GREAT CARE OF IT AND
SPENT ALOT OF MONEY FOR THE BETTER IPOD". Who bought it, you or your
kids?
I suggest a total rewrite, leaving off the caps and the snide remark
in the last sentence and be clear with your information.

OK first of all TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK!!!!

Secondly, what the heck is a "Mac Daddy iPod?"

Third "I WOULD LIKE APPLE TO REPLACE THE IPOD SINCE IT HAS NOT BEEN
THAT LONG PAST THE WARRANTY"

Not that far past the warranty? OK,so tell me,Kathy, why even BOTHER
to put a limit on a warranty at all?

Furthermore, Best Buy merely sold the iPod, they didn't manufacture
it. It's not their problem that it broke and it has NOTHING to do
with their customer service. They'd lose their shirts if they let
everyone return merchandise whenever they wanted. Therefore, there is
nothing wrong with their refusal to help you.

You didn't want to pay for the extended warranty and the free warranty
has expired, thus, you are out of luck, Kathy.
