FORD MUSTANG GT

I purchased a 2006 Mustang GT last dec. It was the my Christmas present...I absolutely loved
my car,it's beautiful. Then it started to leak every time it rained...it took the dealer 4 times before they finaly found the problem and got it fixed. I had just picked my car up and had it less than a week when it needed to have gas put in...it would only take $6.00...so,I called the dealer-they had me bring the car in. The dealer called me and said Ford said that it needed a new tank...so,they put a new gas tank in it. Well, the next time in needed gas it would only take $5.47 in gas before it wouldn't take any more. Called the dealer again...brought it back in. The dealer says that they cannot fix the car & have had several Ford engineers out to look at it. They cannot figure out what to do. They have had my car for a month now! I have called Ford several times and have gotten the run-around. Either they can't find the file or they say it's up to the dealer to call and keep me informed...what the heck is that!!!! I am paying a car note to drive a !@#$ rental car and I'm paying the extra insurance for a GT. How do you not stand behind your product? I don't know what else to do,but to get a lawyer, this is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!
I would like them to buy the car back and give my the value of what I have in the car (minus the depreciation,of course).

I am in the same position with my 2005 Mustang as serena z was in her nov. 26th posting. The gas tank will not fill. I've been to dozens of stations. Finally after 2 calls to ford I received a call from a "northeast rep." Within a week she got back to me and said it was all of the gas pumps and not my car. ALL of the pumps I've used in the last 7 months!! They will not help me. I have one more dealership to try. (the other couldn't find any problem). Any suggestions that won't cost me more than the car did??
**a word about lemon laws...in ny state you have to have had 3 or more attempts by the dealer to fix your car to qualify. Ford avoids lemon laws by not making any attempts to fix it, just giving it back and saying they couldn't find a problem.

I see that you are having the same problem as I had with my Mustang and just thought I'd drop you a note to let know how things are going. As of this point, I still do not have a vehicle-the Mustang is sitting at the dealership. I am still making the payments and paying extra insurance for the luxury of owing a Mustang GT. I have continually gotten the run around, from the dealer as well as from Ford. But, I do have a meeting on 2/08/08. They are going to buy the vehicle back, but at how much of a loss to me has yet to be determined. They are going to charge for any mileage, tire wear, etc, because this take away from the value of the car! Gee,I would think not being able to drive a car that will not take more than a few cents of gas would devalue it more than anything I could have done. I probalby should have filed the "lemon law",but that takes a lot of time and the possibilty of being out even more money to a lawyer did not appeal to me. I did think of just letting the car go and letting the finance co. come and get it,but that would affect my credit. Anyway, I would continue to take it to the dealer-they should still have to give some paperwork regarding the issue. I would also go to every site where you can post negative comments and see if you get anywhere. Ford is well aware of the problem-I have read of several others with this problem. Needless to say, I will not be getting another Mustang, even though they have since changed the design of the gas tank. This has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had to deal with & I have come to realize that the joy of a new vehicle is nothing compared to the nightmare of a lemon!!

I'm not exactly sure where to post this...but,here goes. I want to thank Planet feedback for offering this platform for consumers. I received a letter from
Ford less than 2 weeks after posting on this site. When speaking with their rep. it was obvious that they had seen my post. After speaking with her I received another call from her in a few hours stating that she had spoken with the regional Ford rep. and that he should be getting with me in the next day or so. While I do not yet have a resolution to my problem - I feel that Planet Feedback had great influence on getting a response. Thanks and have a nice day!!!!

Someone said it before, check your state lemon laws, but the next time you call the dealer and get the run around, ask them if they have a 1-800# for the state. Most states have this and the dealer can get in a lot of trouble depending on the state. It might move things along a little if you request that.

Okay, this might be a stupid question, but does the discrepancy in the dollar amount of gas your tank would take from fill up to fill up have anything to do with the constantly changing gas prices????
Two years ago, my gas tank would take about $18. Today, it takes about $26...

It sounds like the system that handles fuel vapor pressure is not functioning properly. They should be able to fix that. When the gas goes in, the air in the tank needs to escape. If the air can't escape, the pump shuts off.
They have had your car a month? Wow. Is there a regional Ford rep you can contact? You need to elevate this over your dealership, evidently.

You need to research (online should be sufficient) your state's lemon laws to see if your car qualifies. A good source is your state's attorney general's office.
