FucoThin Did Not Work for Me, Vitamin Shoppe

Posted Tue November 27, 2007 12:00 pm, by Terrence C. written to Vitamin Shoppe

Write a Letter to this Company

The Vitamin Shoppe had a big promotion for a weight loss item called "fucothin" made by the Garden of Life company. They provided all of this advertisement that the product was clinically proven to help you lose weight. The instructions said that the item needed to be taken for a minimum of 6 weeks before any results would be shown. One bottle of the product is only a 4 week supply. I asked the store manager in Springfield, VA if I purchased multiple bottles of the product could I return them if it did not work and as I remember, he said yes.

Well I have been taking the product now for more than 8 weeks and the only weight loss I have experienced is the loss of approximately $150.00, the cost of 4 bottles of this product. I have not lost not even one half ounce of fat using this product. When I attempted to return the products (2 empty bottles, 1 half full bottle and 1 unopened bottle), I was told that I could not get store credit for the used products. I would not have purchased the product if I knew that I would not be able to return them if it did not work. I believe it was false advertisement on both the Vitamin Shoppe and the Garden of Life and just very deceptive business practice. I have been a loyal customer of the Vitamin Shoppe for many years, but this incident is making me reconsider continuing to shop there.

Please provide me with store credit for the cost of 4 bottles of this "fucothin" product because it did not work for me.

Jan to March 2011. I Purchased fucoTHIN from Vitamin Shoppee for
29.99 in January 2011. The product states you must stay on this
product for six (6) weeks thus causing me to purchase a large quantity
of fucoTHIN so I can see the weight loss start by week six. This
weight loss never happend and Vitamin Shoppee refuses to refund my
money stating this purchase is past 30 days and I must contact Garden
of Life for a refund.

I have been using Fucothin for 3 months now.
YES it does work, BUT..and there's a big BUT involved.
First you have to line up your energy about where you want to be
physically with your weight. It doesn't matter what product you're
using, energy alignment is the primary factor.
First..make friends with the food your eating.
Second, make peace with where you are...because if your not happy with
where you are, all the action in the world won't amount to anything.
Start visualizing yourself at the weight you want to be...THE BODY
FOLLOWS THE TRAIN OF YOUR THOUGHT...NO EXCEPTIONS...if you're taking
Fucothin, while your daily thoughts are: "I'm overweight, I need to
loose weight"...you'll always be in a state of trying to loose the
extra weight...start telling the story the way you want it to be..fast
forward to the end result..see yourself at the ideal weight,,,along
with incorporating some physical exercise..and then you'll be INSPIRED
to eat less and drink more water...energy alignment is the first
step...this is an inside job FIRST...then any physical action required
will come on the heels of inspiration. YOU HAVE TO LOVE WHERE AND WHO
YOU ARE FIRST....then it doesn't matter if you eat dirt...

if you get on a great detox system or go to a health store to see what
detox sytem is best for you then you will be able to get rid of the
trapped waste that is clogged around your colon. i have not tried
fuco thin as of yet, but i am going too. many different people
experience different things. when i purchased the almighty cleanse it
was not working right for me, but i did keep the detox system. after i
have seen a program by the guy who created the system i then did
exactly what he said to do and i have been having regular bowel
movements ever since. I am seeing a change in my stomach and i have
been only taking the pills for 2 days now. another great product is
Colonex (my sister recently detoxed with this system), she also had
great results. like i said every one is different. but besides
detoxing, you have to continue to eat healthy, exercise and drink
plenty of water, if you do not do these then nothing is going to work
for you.

Eww...I'm glad that they didn't take them back, I wouldn't want to buy
vitamins I know may have possibly been tampered with.
I'm not that into taking medicines for things either unless the doc
orders them.
I personally would never even think to try and bring pills of any kind
back. It's like bringing back underwear to a clothing store, sure the
tags still may be on, but no one knows for sure if you used it.

I saw on tv somewhere (cannot remember) that the two major money
makers in this world are diet plans/supplement and bottled water.
Oh to have had a crystal ball years ago...would I be rich now.
When are people going to realize that they have to take control of
their own habits and life to make things happen.
Try a little self motivation. It not only builds self esteem but a
healthier lifestyle.

if you are a long-term customer with VS you might have some recourse.
explain and show that you have a history as being their customer and
explain your situation in writing to them, via email. Say you will
never shop with them again unless they refund your money. its worth a
shot.

this was taken off the market by then. They used to sell them right
in woolworths on a regular shelf like they were nothing. I can't say
I lost more than 5 lbs ever with them and I stopped after only a
while, couldn't stand what it felt like but others lost with them. I
won't take any of these pills now. I just don't trust anything.

Have You Called Jenny, Yet? Or Weight Watchers or any program that
teaches lifestyle changes, exercise, and portion control?

Did the idea of speaking to your doctor before buying 150 bucks worth
of false promises ever occur to you?

These supplements are not stringently tested like drugs are, and we
all know how many bad drugs have been taken off the market. I wonder
how many of these supplements should be banned? Why is Trimspa still
on the market?

I myself don't believe in diet pills or those so called 'miracle
diets'. The only sure fire way to lose weight is to cut back on
portions and foods high in fat and exercise.

While I am not disputing that some vitamins pills etc have their uses
and work for somethings, they are the current age of the snake oil
from yesteryear.

"I asked the store manager in Springfield, VA if I purchased multiple
bottles of the product could I return them if it did not work and as I
remember, he said yes."

As Franese said below, my impression from what was said is that
unopened bottles could be returned. Unless there was a money back
guarantee, I don't see why they would take opened product back or
reimburse you for used product. Also, I would think you would have a
definite memory of whether this product was guaranteed to work.
Especially at its cost.

I notice that you said the product claims to have been clinically
proven. I hope you didn't put much faith in that or use that as an
indication of the manufacturer guaranteeing the product.

It doesn't make sense that you take a pill to lose weight. If you are
predisposed to weight gain, what makes sense it to exercise and watch
what you eat.

by Rhet Canter Posted Tue November 27, 2007 @ 5:22 PM

Did you do some physical exercise, decrease the amount of fat and
carbs in your diet and ALSO use the product? Because if you didn't,
essentially you're just taking vitamins and they alone would never
work to reduce your weight. Actually, if you exercise 3 times a
weeks, get your heart rate up over 100-120, sustained for a minimum of
20 minutes each time, eat less, cut out fat, sugar and most complex
carbs, guess what? You'll lose weight. And feel better. Without any
type of pills.

I'm sorry you were suckered in by the "no effort, just swallow this
pill" theory to losing weight. But if it were that easy, America
wouldn't have the obesity problem that it does, and all you'd see is
Twiggy walking around. And when you look around, you sure know that
isn't happening. Now is it!

Peace!

There is no magic bullet for weight loss and all carry the caveat that
they are to be used in conjuction with a reduced calorie/fat diet and
exercise.

Reply

by Becks Posted Tue November 27, 2007 @ 4:30 PM

With any weight loss product there are usually disclaimers on the
package that state, "You must still eat a sensible diet and engage in
regular excercise"

Big revelation; there is no 'magical' cure for overweight conditions.
You have to consume fewer calories and increase how much you burn.

Most 'weight loss aids' are either appetite supppressants or
diuretics. They are not a quick fix.

You cannot just take a pill and lose weight, if you could there would

First of all how do you pronounce that? And if it's sounds anything
like it works, that says it all! Like everyone else says, try
something more realistic. Weight watcher does work, and it's the most
forgiving of them all.

I really think they meant unopened products.

And there is no magic pill for weight loss...if there were, we'd all
be thin. Try Weight Watchers or South Beach (or another legitimate
diet) and of course, exercise. You were watching what you were eating
and you were excercising, weren't you?

by Blackrack Posted Tue November 27, 2007 @ 12:28 PM

You know, I think you have to combine pills like this with a healthy
diet and regular exercise. Of course, these two things would eliminate
the need for a pill.

Being that I work in the store that sells these stupid "magic pills"
the major thing that I've learned is that as soon as a diet pill is
taken off the market because it didn't work, there's another pill that
won't work coming to takes it's place on our shelves at Walgreens.

Pills don't work. A lifestyle change DOES.

by Adam D Posted Tue November 27, 2007 @ 10:56 AM

You bought into the hype, and now you have to pay for it. Did you
work out, change your diet? Did you do ANYTHING other then take these
pills? If you did not change anything then you will not lose weight.

by Gizmo. Posted Tue November 27, 2007 @ 10:46 AM

Maybe the store manager assumed you meant you wanted to return any
unused, unopened bottles you had? That is what I thought you were
asking him when I read your first paragraph. It might have just been
a misunderstanding on his part.

I don't believe that ANY weight loss company that makes these type of
pills guarantees they will work for EVERYONE. Like another poster said
below.. if you don't change your eating habits...

Wouldn't it be great if one of these so-called magic pills actually
worked? Heaven knows I'd take a pill that could get rid of these
extra 10 pounds myself, but I'm not holding my breath! Unfortunately,
no weight loss treatment is going to work nearly as well as exercise
and a healthy diet. In more extreme cases there are surgeries that
mainly work by limiting your food intake, but having seen my
father-in-law go through that I can tell you it's really hard work
too. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

I do hope they honor their verbal agreement and let you return at
least the unopened bottle. Good luck!

Try buying lean cuisine and eating those everyday. I lost alot of
