Awesome Black Friday Experience at Jo-Anns!

Posted Wed November 28, 2007 1:12 pm, by W H. written to Jo-Ann Stores, Inc.

Write a Letter to this Company

My mom and I shopped at your Carson City, NV store on 2/21/07 (Black Friday) to take advantage of the wonderful Doorbuster sales you were offering. Specifically, we were shopping for the Snuggle/Cozy Flannel offered at $0.99/yd.
We arrived at the store at approximately 10am (we live 70 miles away) and we saw the jam-packed parking lot. We figured that all the "good" prints would already be gone, but we decided to go in anyway since we had driven for over an hour to get there.
Imagine our surprise when we saw not one, but two aisles full of the fabric neatly displayed for our perusal! The store was crammed with customers, but there was such a large selection that we had no trouble finding a large quantity.
What impressed me the most was the fact that the four ladies who were busy at the cutting table all had smiles and were making pleasantries with the customers, some of whom had literally 25 bolts in their cart(s). The cutters quickly and efficiently snipped off the customers' yardage and the bolts were whisked back to the sales floor with alarming speed to be sure that all of us waiting in the cutting line could continue to shop while we were waiting.
Even though the cutting line was long (we were in line for approximately 90 minutes) the cutters still were able to be sure we received the advertised price. One of the associates even walked down the line offering cookies to all the people waiting.
Between my mom and me, we purchased over 30 yards of flannel. My sons and I will have some very nice jammies to keep us warm this winter thanks to your awesome sale and even better associates!

This IS an excellent letter. Ours recently closed and we're hoping
they open a new store someplace reasonably close. We have an aspiring
fashion designer in our family, so it's reassuring to hear that the
company must be trying very hard and is doing well for the customers.

They really do rock. by (What's With this Cheese Thing???) Peanut's Mom Sat December 1, 2007 @ 11:59 AM

I used to work at Hancock Fabrics and what you describe is very
(painfully) familiar to me. I remember several times not even leaving
the cutting table for my entire 6 hour shift. I went home and could
swear I was still holding my scissors. :) Sounds like they have a
great bunch at this store and they will appreciate this letter, I
promise. :)

They have better sales, but JoAnn has a better selection, at least out
here.
This store seemed to have an abundance of staff on hand to handle the
throng. There was one person even dedicated to returning the used
bolts to the floor. I think she was the busiest! She would roll the
cart along the line and let people shop off her cart before bringing
it back to the racks. It was truly great!

What a GREAT letter! What a great store! Those employees sound
awesome. Your letter put a smile on my face.

I would suggest you send a similar letter directly to the store, so
those wonderful ladies can know that their hard work, positive
attitudes, and willingness to work Black Friday were appreciated.

I'm really glad you wrote this!

People who work at stores deal with so many people on Black Friday who
are upset over things the stores can't control, and it will mean a lot
to them to know that there are people who appreciate the things that
go right.
