The rest of you people should be ashamed. The store has an obligation to help the customers, even if it's only to help get in touch with a manufacturer (yes ALL products are manufactured by someone!). So what if the store return date was expired, they sold it, they know who made it, they can help by telling her who to talk to. They weren't even polite. I don't shop at Target, partly because of the rude service, mostly because of their corporate attitude. They don't support the Military in any way, in fact they have policies and practices that border on anti Military AND anti America. If you can't see that, time to get some glasses, or maybe an education.

With all due respect (no matter how much or little that is), your son was coming home for ninety whole days? And in that case, seven dollars isn't worth spending time with your son?

=0.o= you waited too long to return the thing. Deal with it. and just because you're pissed off about them not honoring your tardiness to exchange your product, don't start whining that Target doesn't support the war in Iraq to get everyone else fired up about Target. You broke the product, it's too late to return it. Just buy a new one and move on. Jeez!!
this is clearly your own fault and Target is not to blame.

Why didn't you write this letter at the end of Oct? It is dated 12/10/2007. Why the delay?
Also I just wanted to see the item you are talking about and went to Target.com. I can't find an electric one at all under that brand. Perhaps the item is very old and was on clearance. Anyway most things have a warranty. Did yours not have anything for a warranty? If not I would not have purchased it to begin with. 90 days was your warranty in that case and you missed it.
Think of it like a rental 2 dollars a month. What a deal!

I'll send you a check for $7.00 if you promise not to ever post anything on the internet again...especially the foolishness about not supporting the military. What in the world does any of that have to do with anyhing???

Let's just blame the entire world for your problems! No one cares about your little problem. Least of all the CEO of Target. Warranties are dated for a reason. I'm pretty sure you could have found the 2 seconds it took to return your defective can opener if you wanted to. And stating that Target doesn't support the war is ridiculous. You really made yourself sound particularly foolish on that point.
Your letter has no basis for anything other than the fact that you made a fool of yourself. Proof read before you send something like this out too. That was pretty terrible too!

Ms. Connie.. you obviously don't know how to write a business letter. The military info has NO place in this letter. Also, if you write a letter to a business.. SPELL THE NAME OF THE PLACE RIGHT! :: Shakes my head::

1. What store do you have an issue with? You taled about Targe, Targer and Target.
2. Kudos to Target for standing up to the customer
3. Why would you think that you could return something after the 90 day return period
4. Why would you make a sticnk 2 months later
5. In the big scheme of things, is $7.14 really worth all the hassle that it is causing? I think not.

And it begins...
You say you saw the receipt expired October 8, yet you still were upset when you went at the end of October to get a refund. Is there something you don't understand about 90 days?
Then you say you tried to call corporate but no one would give you the number, but the next sentence says they were no help anyway. Obviously you got the number. If not, the 1-800 is on the return policy sign behind Guest Service and on the back of the receipts to name a few places.
And where in the world did Target "not supporting our military men" come into play? Besides being completely false, it doesn't relate to your letter at all.
You want them to refund you the item so badly, and yet you say you weren't a fan of them in the first place, and even if they do refund you, that you will only be an occasional shopper. What kind of incentive is that?
"It is not like I came into the store 6 months later and expected you to do something about it." But it is like you came into the store almost 4 months later and expected them to do something about it. If they granted an exception for you, where do they draw the line? 5 months? 6 months? A year?
Have you ever heard of the saying "You get what you pay for"? An electric can opener for $6.69 is not going to last long. If you want quality, you'll have to pay more for it.
Target did not make this item. It is under the Chefmate brand. Try calling 1-800-303-0308 (Target's Guest Relations) and asking for Chefmate's information. Maybe Chefmate will be able to help you.
And please leave the military excuse out of it. It is not a reasonable excuse and to use it only takes away from those who actually have it as a reasonable excuse.

1. In what way was the can opener defective? You make no mention of what the problem that made you decide to return it was, or even that it was defective until well into the letter.
2. Did you literally not leave your house the entire time you were waiting to find out if your son would be coming home? If not, you could have run by a Target at any point in the 90 day return period and I'm sure they would have been happy to exchange it for you.
3. Target not allowing you to return a product outside of their return period does not equal Target not supporting, "our Military men." Surely you're not trying to use your son's incredible bravery to get special treatment for yourself from a store? If you have some other issue with Target's support of the military that should be stated in the letter. By the way, what about military women?
4. I doubt they will be too upset about this letter. Target has stuck to their return policy in spite of many letters like this, and the threat of losing you as an "occasional customer" is not likely to change their minds.

"I purchased a "CHEFMATE" electric canopener from you store in Morrow GA. on July 8 2007 my 90 days were up on Oct. 8 2007. I went back into the store the end of oct to get a refund or exchange..."
"blah blah blah how could you do this to a military blah blah blah"
You were over the 90 day period, period. One day, one week, one whatever. You missed it. Military service is irrelevant to this complaint.
All this for a $6.69 item? Please. What incentive do they have to break their policy on your behalf? You are never going there again. You are going to tell everyone you know how bad they are. I wouldn't send you as much as an empty envelope.

Connie, please rewrite this letter. Spell check is your friend.
"I even offered to pay to return the product to have it fixed or replaced ". It would cost as much to ship as you pais for the thing.
Also, the return period was up. One day, one month, one year, it is all the same. Time is up-time is over.
